Disclaimer: Young Justice isn't mine *sob*.

Summary: Speedy asks Robin to join him.

Speedy POV

I ran from rooftop to rooftop, the wind rustling my hair. It's an unusual feeling without my hat on, but I don't care.

It only shows my attachment toward the Green Arrow. I don't want him to hand-feed me petty villains to "fight".

He has never understood why I left, but…I don't need anyone to understand. I am saving people now, showing him…no…showing everyone that I was no longer a sidekick. I am a hero.

Finally, I skidded to a halt, Mount Justice.

Robin POV

I tapped on my keyboard. Speedy's rebellion against his own mentor bugged me. I mean, it's a bit whelming to discover that you weren't taken to the REAL Justice League head-quarters, but all it means is that we have to prove ourselves to them that we can handle that sort of thing…right? That's why I was here in Mount Justice, to prove myself to the Justice League, and harder yet, Batman.

I rapidly typed in some last installments to my hardware before closing it with a satisfying snap. I sighed and lifted my aching body from the couch.

I am so ready to call it a day.

I froze when I heard the nearly silent footsteps in the hallway. Silently, I pressed myself against the wall and pulled a batarang from my belt.

The footsteps became louder, and I tensed to attack. Launching myself at the unknown assailant, it was a mess of limbs before I straddled the intruder.

I pressed the batarang against his neck. "Who are y- Speedy?" I gasped.

"Yeah, hey Robin. Mind if you put away your sharp …erm…envelope opener?"

I gracefully leapt from the ground and sheathed the batarang.

"Hey! It's not a letter opener! It's a deadly weapon." I grinned.

Speedy POV

It was nice to see Robin again. Looking up and down, I saw that he hadn't changed a bit. His lean, flexible body was leaning nonchalantly against the wall. His eyes, of course, were hidden behind pitch black sunglasses.

"You're probably wondering why I'm here." I stated.

He scoffed, "Yeah, Captain Obvious. Who wouldn't be?"

His voice was dripping with sarcasm. Typical.

"Why are you here Speedy?" He cocked an elegant eyebrow.

"I want you to join me." I said, dead serious.

Robin's laughter echoed through the empty cave.

"W-wait, ar-are you serious?" he clutched his stomach. "What else do you want to ask? 'Please embark on this wonderful journey with me, and we shall skip off into the sunset holding hands!" His smile turned into a frown.

"You know that Batman would never let me."

My sigh pierced the awkward silence that settled between us. I leaned over Robin and put my hands on either side of his head.

"You don't always have to do what Batman wants you to do." Our foreheads touched. "Let's go together. Then, we won't have to care about what anyone thinks about us anymore. We can just be lone vigilantes. You know? Like the movies." I smiled.

"Roy, you know- "I pressed my hand against his mouth.

"Richard, I know." I lifted his glasses from his face. His crystal blue eyes swam with emotion as they gazed pleadingly into my own masked eyes. He barely made a move to stop me.

His shorter arms wrapped around my neck.

"I missed you, Speedy." He whispered.

I wrapped my arms around his small waist, and breathed in the scent of his hair.

"I did, too." I whispered.

I chuckled, "I feel like we're saying goodbye."

Robin ducked his head. "Because we are." He tore himself from our embrace and hugged his torso.

"I'm sorry Speedy. I can't. Not with everything that's going on right now."

"Fine." I seethed. "I see how it is."

I could see him flinch as I pushed past him.

"I thought you understood." I whispered.

Robin POV

Long after Speedy was gone, I said, "But I do."
