Disclaimer: I do not own The Last Vampire series. I do not make a profit from this poem.
Title: "Sita's Song"
Author: Stardust of Orion
Rating: K+
Warnings: Pretty much nothing bad here. SPOILER ALERT- Not really, but it would be better if you read the last book of the series.
Summary: A quick overview story-poem of Sita's life, though not much specifically pertaining to the events in the series.
Author's Note: I wrote this several years ago. My poetry has vastly improved since then, although let's face it, I'll never be a great poet. Still, I wanted to get people's opinions before I began rewriting this one, so I'd appreciate any reviews.
"Sita's Song"
I was there when the pyramids
were built beneath the moon
and I was there when bombs
fell on peaceful London.
I've watched the sun set a million times
and heard the cry of war.
I've had a thousand lovers
and known the beautiful Lord Krishna.
I've been with the living
and watched them leave with Death.
I've walked this earth for centuries
and seen the dawning of an age.
I've longed for life to return-
for Rama and little Lalita.
I've hoped for Death to come
but he's always passed me by.
I've hungered for things which cannot be
and cried a river of blood.
And now, as gracious Death
finally comes for me,
I lift up a song of thanks
to the one who said he'd always protect
and I pray that I might be able
to embrace pale lonely Death.
