The Auction

Gwen couldn't believe that she'd let herself be talked into being part of the auction. Morgana had come to her pleading and begging two days ago; "It's for a good cause, think of all those hungry and naked children and besides maybe it will make Arthur man up, finally."

Gwen had reluctantly agreed, it would be good to help those children and she'd been waiting for months for Arthur to ask her out. She'd tried to ask him out but he was so taken up with Melinda 'Stick Insect' Barlow to notice her.

Morgana, Helen and Miranda were also going to take part so she wouldn't be alone.

It was time for the auction. Gwen fidgeted with her dress. It was too short, too tight; it made her look like a dog in a dress. "Its fine," Morgana told her for the tenth time.

Morgana went first.

"Ladies and Gentleman, presenting Dr Morgana Pendragon, OB/GYN, the bidding will start off at a hundred pounds. Do I have one hundred pounds?"

A hand went up in the crowded room.

"Two hundred pounds."

"Three hundred pounds."

Merlin watched all the men bidding for Morgana and walked up to the front, "One hundred thousand pounds."

Arthur and Elyan who had been standing at the back with him gasped. They had known that he would bid some money but not that much.

The auctioneer looked at Merlin and said, "One hundred thousand pounds going once, twice, sold, to the gentleman in black."

Morgana smiled at Merlin and walked off the podium to him.

Miranda and Helen followed and were quickly bought by their boyfriends.

"The last lady up for auction tonight is Miss Guinevere Leodegrance, an interior designer and Olympic gold medalist. What a combination, her accomplishments speak for themselves. May I remind you that whoever 'wins' one of these lovely ladies gets a chance to spend a weekend with her at an island resort in the Mediterranean.

The bidding will commence at one hundred pounds.

Do I hear one hundred pounds?"

A hand went up and it was followed by more hands in quick succession. The amount went up to five thousand pounds.

Gwen stood on the podium looking at the men bidding on her, wondering why Arthur wasn't making a move. He didn't even seem to be watching the auction; he seemed occupied with his phone. 'It was a stupid idea,' she said to herself. 'I should never have let Morgana talk me into it.'

Arthur watched all the men bidding on Gwen; he wanted to put his hand and was waiting for an opportune moment. Gwen had told Elyan to have some money on him to ensure that she didn't get 'won' by a creep.

When the bid went up to ten thousand pounds, Arthur decided that it was time to act; he began to walk to the front and got ready to put up his hand.

A blue box crashed onto the podium.

In the silence that followed they watched as its door opened and a man walked out. He waved at them.

"Fifty thousand pounds," he said smiling.

The auctioneer looked at him, winked and said, "fifty thousand pounds, going once, twice, sold to the gentleman in the blue box."

The Blue-box gentleman gave the money to the auctioneer, smiled at Gwen and took her hand. He led her to the box and she followed him inside.

Arthur, Merlin and Morgana watched the blue box disappear into thin air with their friend inside.

"Thanks for coming to my rescue," Gwen told the Doctor.

"Told you I'd always be there to help you."

I know absolutely nothing about auctions and auctioning so forgive any errors.
