The dark room was filled with sound of sweet moans and pants along with the sound of bed creaking. Two beautiful bodies were thrashing on the white bedsheets, crumpling and creasing the sheets as their bodies moulded together perfectly.
"Seph… urgh," Zack moaned in ecstasy as he clung to Sephiroth. His fingernails digging into Sephiroth's back. The huge bed shook as Sephiroth thrust himself hard inside Zack, hardly feeling the pressure Zack's fingernails caused.
Sweat trailed down the sides of Zack's cheek, every thoughts was broke into bits and pieces as Sephiroth rammed him hard again. And again. Mmm. It felt great.
"I–I'm co–coming!" Zack cried out as Sephiroth hit his good spot.
"Me too," Sephiroth grunted above him. "So. Tight."
Hearing the moan from Sephiroth sent him over the edge. "Seph!" Zack cried out loudly as something hot spilled out between them.
After a few more thrusts, Sephiroth groaned and stilled above Zack, letting him have a perfect view of those perfectly sculpted chest. Hot liquid filled inside Zack, stoking the fire inside him further. Zack wrapped his arms tightly around Sephiroth, sighing in consternation as he savoured the feeling of Sephiroth all around him.
Zack fixed his gaze tenderly upon Sephiroth, drinking in every single of his features hungrily, not wanting to miss an inch of his perfect lover. It had been so long since he last saw him. Zack had fretted for days that Sephiroth forgot all about him or he found someone new and then he turned up suddenly outside his dormitory late at night like some kind of gorgeous angel.
Zack barely got time to greet him when Sephiroth slipped inside his room, pressing his whole body against the wall and kissing him passionately. As they kissed, Sephiroth's fingers were already working on his belt, his other hand slipping under his shirt. Zack was more than willing to oblige, his fingers roamed Sephiroth's chest and it wasn't before long both of them were on bed, their clothes threw askew on the floor.
"Seph," Zack murmured lovingly, running his finger through Sephiroth's long beautiful silver hair.
Sephiroth's lips crooked into a smile – Zack's heart nearly stopped beating – then he leaned in to kiss Zack again, his cock still embedded deep inside Zack.
"Mmmh," Zack moaned blissfully, opening his mouth so Sephiroth could slip his tongue inside. "I love you, Seph," Zack murmured between kisses.
The smirk on his face widened as he continued to kiss Zack passionately, his kisses getting wilder and rougher.
Zack gasped in shock when he felt Sephiroth's cock hardened inside him again. "So fast?" Zack whispered, staring seductively through half-open eyelids at him.
"What can I say? You're just too good," Sephiroth muttered, placing kisses all over his body.
Zack's heart filled with warmth when he heard those words. "Let's continue," Zack said, burying his head into the crook of Sephiroth's neck, inhaling in his sweet floral scent.
Sephiroth smirked then he started to move again. Zack clung tightly to him, moaning in ecstasy, wishing that morning would never come, that this happy moment would last forever.
The morning sunlight filtered in through the glass windows, shining the cafeteria with natural light. SOLDIERs and Infantryman alike were all scattered across the cafeteria, gabbing away before they started their duties.
Choosing a corner at the end of the cafeteria, Zack sat alone with a faraway blissful look on his face, stirring his cup of coffee with the plastic spoon for the hundredth time. He was totally absorbed in his own Sephiroth's fantasies, oblivious to the sound and chatters of the crowd.
Aaah. Sephiroth.
They kept making love until dawn. Zack must have passed out by then because he didn't remember Sephiroth leaving. When he woke up, he was all alone. If not for the love-marks on his body, Zack would have thought that yesterday night was but a sweet dream.
Zack continued stirring his coffee as he gave another contented sigh thinking of his relationship with Sephiroth. The greatest 1st Class SOLDIER, Sephiroth was his lover. His lover. Sometimes he couldn't believe his luck, it seemed too good to be true. But when he saw the packed breakfast box on the table, his happy spirits plummeted downwards. That pulled him back to reality from his sweet fantasies. He had forgotten all about that. Damn. Just looking at that made him sad.
Zack had decided to make a quick breakfast for Sephiroth. Sephiroth was always so busy with work, leaving him hardly any time for meals. Besides Zack wanted to solidify his lover's position in Sephiroth's heart.
With his heart full of love, he skipped over to Sephiroth's office only to find out that Sephiroth already left for a mission. Why didn't he mentioned anything when he was ravaging him last night? Zack shook his head. No. He should stop thinking like that. Their minds were otherwise occupied with sex, and that's good also, right? Perhaps Sephiroth wanted to tell him later but then he passed out. A small voice spoke up at the back of his mind, he could still text you right?
Zack shook his head again, forcing him to remember all the good things instead. One of the best thing that happened between Zack and Sephiroth was the time in Junon when he first confessed to him…
Zack had been chasing Hollander across Junon, and just when he thought he got him cornered, somebody came and rescued Hollander.
"Tch! Should have known," Zack cursed to himself, feeling the sting of his failure in the mission. All his efforts gone to waste just like that. At least, no other SOLDIERs were around to witness this humiliating incident…
"Mission failed, this goes on your permanent record," Sephiroth's curt voice sounded behind him.
Zack turned behind in the utmost astonishment and mortification but then his feelings gave way to happiness. He was truly elated to see Sephiroth yet at the same time, it was so embarrassing to be seen as a failure in front of the person he loved.
"Sephiroth! Long time no see!" Zack greeted him casually. Yes! His voice didn't crack from the pressure he felt inside him.
Deep inside, Zack had secretly harboured feelings for Sephiroth for a long time, but he could never find the chance – or the courage – to express his feelings. Besides, wouldn't it be awkward if Sephiroth rejected him and they still have to work together in the future? It would be better if he just shoved these feelings deep down inside him.
"Let the Turks take care of the rest," Sephiroth said smoothly, walking over to him. "I was on my way to Modeoheim, but I heard you were in the area."
Those words sent Zack's heart racing like mad. Sephiroth made the extra effort to come here to see him? How lucky he was. Although… Zack tried not to flinch at how bad he must smell now. All sweaty and salty for chasing after Hollander. He hoped his spikes still looked good.
"Lucky me," Zack said absent-mindedly. Oops. Did he really said that out loud? At least his tone sounded normal. Luckily, Sephiroth didn't notice any peculiar about his behaviour. Zack kept his back towards Sephiroth so he couldn't see the red flush across his cheeks.
Zack wanted to defend his pride as a SOLDIER and make himself looked less bad in Sephiroth's eyes, but he could only stand there like an idiot with his mouth dropping open as he tried to formulate the words. It wasn't his fault. Sephiroth just looked even more stunning under the bright setting sun, with the golden rays making his silver hair sparkled like a river of diamonds.
"Permission to return… granted," Sephiroth said abruptly, breaking Zack out from his reverie.
"Uh… yeah…" Maybe Sephiroth thought that he was tired and needed some rest, after all, he did looked and acted a bit… awkward.
"Take care."
"You too," Zack was really amazed at how calm and composed he sounded, he half-thought that he was dying from his nerves by now.
Zack turned to leave, but then he stopped, using the chance to take a deep breath and steel himself for his next statement –
"Hey, what's going on in Modeoheim?"
Zack nearly cringed at his own stupidity. Stupid stupid stupid! That wasn't what he wanted to say! Urgh! He was such a coward! He wanted to confess to Sephiroth. The words were already in his mind but somehow he just couldn't mutter those words!
"The device Hollander was using had been stolen…" Sephiroth explained, launching into a detailed explanation about his mission while Zack just listened half-heartedly, his brain racing with a million thoughts elsewhere. The war in Modeoheim didn't seemed to be as important as the war going on inside him.
When Sephiroth reached the end of his speech, Zack paused, ducking his head slightly from embarrassment, the desperation evident on his face. He raised his right hand in earnest, wanting to finally tell Sephiroth how he felt but the words wouldn't come out. In the end, his hand was left hanging awkwardly in mid-air. The longer he stood there under Sephiroth's curious stare, the darker the shade on his cheeks. And yet, no words came out!
Sephiroth glanced at him, the smile on his face was encouraging as if he knew that he had something important on his mind.
Zack took another deep breath and was about to blurt those words when –
Sephiroth cocked his head slight to the left with a smile. "We'll meet again soon."
Aaah. Just when he was about to spill out his guts, Sephiroth interrupted him, now he had to start the process all over again. His courage melted away under Sephiroth's intense gaze and scorching evening sun. Was it him or was it getting hotter?
Left with nothing to do, Zack could only nod his head, his mako blue eyes fixed upon Sephiroth with adoration and desire. He slowly backed away, holding out his right hand and pointing at Sephiroth, "I'll hold you to that."
He turned and walked away, again, but then he planted his tracks on the floor and turned back with grim determination.
"I like you, Sephiroth!"
The smile faded from Sephiroth's face.
Zack turned scarlet and steam almost shoot out from his ears, he was looking at anywhere but at Sephiroth. Even so, he could hear soft footsteps coming his way. Zack squeezed his eyes shut tightly, his hands balled up into fists by his side. Damn. Damn. Damn. The pair of boots halted right in front of him. His heart was pumping so hard that it almost stopped beating. He was shaking so bad now.
Sephiroth raised one hand towards him, Zack flinched, thinking that Sephiroth was going to slap him. The effect was far from what he imagined. Zack felt the brush of the leather gloves against his skin as Sephiroth lifted his chin, he shyly flashed his eyes upon Sephiroth's face, glimpsing the confident trade-mark smirk on Sephiroth's face before –
Sephiroth kissed him passionately, those cold smooth lips pressed against his roughly and urgently like he couldn't get enough of Zack. Zack was stunned at first, but as his senses slowly came back to him, he replied those kisses hungrily.
Their first kiss.
The orange sun was just setting down by the sea, showering the whole world with bright orange, yellow and white light. It was the perfect romantic backdrop. And then – that very night when they arrived at Shinra building, Sephiroth pulled him into his house, taking him as his own for the first time.
Pleasant shivers travelled through his body at the memory. He was transported back to the present and then Zack's brow furrowed as he remembered one thing. Though they had been going out for some time, Sephiroth had never said that he loved him, not even once! They never went out on dates either. With all the missions, duties, trainings and their tight schedules, it was mostly just hi and bye with a quick kiss in between.
Suddenly, the happy feeling inside Zack dissipated and his insides squirmed like all his intestines had turned into mushy worms. We are lovers, right? Right? Zack's fingers froze in mid-air with the fork pressed into the pancake.
Then again, Sephiroth was a busy person, he was the most well known 1st Class SOLDIER after all, it's not like he was sitting around whole day doing nothing. Zack gave a sigh and dropped his chin on top of his arms. As his lover, Zack should be more understanding and caring. Sephiroth had enough pressure already. Zack didn't want to be an additional burden.
Zack stopped stirring his coffee as he pondered the question seriously. Great. Now he would keep thinking about this question the whole day and fret about it. Just great. Then someone plunked a tray down opposite him, offering him a chance of escape from his thoughts.
Zack's head snapped up excitedly. "Seph?"
His face fell slightly when he saw the visitor – his mentor, Angeal Hewley. Oops. Maybe he shouldn't be so obvious in his reaction. Zack knew he was heading for trouble when he saw the look on Angeal's face.
Angeal raised his eyebrows, one hand on the back of the chair. "Are you disappointed that I'm not him? Should I leave now?" Angeal's tone was velvety dark.
"No–No," Zack stammered, wishing that he had a hole he could jump into right now. "Have a seat. Boy, am I glad to see you!"
"Really?" Angeal challenged, his fingers tightening around the chair.
"Mm hmm," Zack replied hastily. He was so nervous that he barely knew what he was talking about, the words just spun from his tongue like spiders weaving web. "What's that you got there, Angeal? I heard that the cafeteria came out with a new line of sandwiches. No wonder you got those, they look really good."
Luckily, after another long look, Angeal pulled back the chair and sat down grudgingly. Phew. At least the worst was over. Zack secretly let out a sigh of relief, jumping in alarmed when Angeal suddenly spoke up.
"Something bothering you, pup?" Angeal asked, unwrapping his sandwiches.
Zack could have groaned out loud. Angeal knew him too well. "Just… just thinking," Zack muttered, hardly daring to look at Angeal who could detect a lie instantly with those laser eyes. It wasn't that he didn't want to share with Angeal his problems, it was just so… well, embarrassing that a guy his age was fretting over something like love. What would Angeal think of him?
"Mm hmm," Angeal chewed his sandwich thoughtfully. "You wanna talk about Sephiroth?"
Zack's face turned beet red immediately, he could even feel the heat coming from his cheeks. "Angeal!" Zack hissed.
The corners of his lips curled up as he chewed politely and swallowed before replying. "Seems like you're having deep thoughts about him just now."
"I–I was just thinking about work," Zack struggled to complete his sentences.
"With Sephiroth?" Angeal rose an eyebrow.
"Well, you know how we were sometimes paired up for missions," Zack replied defensively. Although the chances of that happening was very, very, very little, Zack added to himself silently.
"Uh huh," Angeal seemed to know what he was thinking. "Good to know that you're so focused on work."
Zack let out another breath in relief. He was just clapping himself silently on the back that he evaded Angeal's radar successfully when –
"Better get your head in the game, pup, otherwise you're gonna your ass smacked again by the Vajradhara like in Wutai."
Okay. So maybe he wasn't going to be let off the hook so easily, still… "Come on, Angeal, can you drop that embarrassing incident already? It's been so long," Zack groaned loudly.
This time, Angeal let out a broad grin which Zack responded with one as well. Things were finally back to normal… and then –
"What's that package?" Angeal asked, indicating his head towards the breakfast package.
Uh oh. Zack had totally forgotten about the breakfast set. All the warning bells in his head rang. Things were going so well for them, and then Angeal had to go and to activate the bomb trap. Zack bet that Angeal wouldn't like it if he knew Zack made a special breakfast set for only Sephiroth. Then again, why should Angeal feel that way? Sephiroth was his lover right, so that made him one rank higher than Angeal. Technically.
Zack fidgeted in his seat, squirming as he struggled to find the words to explain. The awkward silence dragged on, not because he didn't want to say anything, but he was too busy finding the right words to explain.
"Let me guess again, that's for Sephiroth, right?" Angeal said drily.
Zack gasped out loud. Honestly. Was Angeal some kind of mind reader? How did he always knew?
"And no, I'm not a mind reader," Angeal said, crumpling up the sandwich plastic wrapper and tossed it on his tray.
Zack gasped aloud again, his mouth hanging an inch from the table.
Angeal gave a laugh. "You look really funny like that, pup."
Zack glared at Angeal, jutting out his bottom lip. "Stop calling me pup, it's embarrassing."
Angeal gave a hearty guffaw, a bright carefree smile on his face, looking more like the Angeal Zack knew and loved. Not the kind of Sephiroth's love but… close.
"It suits you well," Angeal teased.
Zack pouted again. "Only you think so."
"Okay, okay," Angeal said, raising his hand in surrender. "But honestly, Zack, what's that?" he deliberately emphasised on the word Zack.
Zack stared helplessly at Angeal and then he clasped his hands together tightly, holding it in a begging posture.
"Angeal, it was tactless of me, I swear I didn't mean to single you out, I'll make one for you next time, serious," Zack ploughed on, his voice infused with emotion
"Did I said I'm jealous?" Angeal's eyes flashed.
Zack visibly flinched. "Well, no… but…"
"You don't have to do it just because you feel sorry for me." His tone was acidic.
Ouch. That hurt. Angeal never use that tone with him, or anyone for the matter. Sarcasm was not his style.
"Angeal, I'm really sorry, it's just that, I only got enough ingredients for one person and I–"
Angeal held up his hand to silence him. "You don't have to say anymore. It's okay."
"Angeaaaal," Zack whined. "Just listen to me, okay? Come on. I feel really bad."
"Really?" Angeal seemed to perk up at his words. "You feel bad because you didn't make breakfast for me?" Angeal asked dubiously.
"Well, yeah," Zack admitted, twiddling with his fingers. "You mean a lot to me."
Whatever Angeal was expecting, it certainly wasn't that. The hard look in his eyes melted away and his shoulders relaxed. "Chill, pup, I was just playing with you," Angeal said gruffly.
Even though he felt better after listening to Angeal's words, Zack continued to squirm uncomfortably on his seat. It did seemed unfair that he thought only of Sephiroth when Angeal was the one who went through thick and thin with him. Zack let out a breath deeply. He really should become a better mentee. Next time. He would be fair in his treatment between Sephiroth and Angeal.
"Are you really alright though?"
Without him realising, Angeal was leaning in close to him, so close that he could see the rainbow flecks in those concerned sky blue eyes. Angeal was doing it again. Acting out of concern for him even when Zack was the one in the wrong, he always had his best interest at heart. How could Zack ever compared him with anyone?
"I'm fine," he reassured Angeal, his fingers griping around his coffee cup tightly, his eyes focused on the pool of brown liquid. If his gaze met with Angeal, he would know that something was wrong.
"Is it Sephiroth?" Angeal pressed on, his voice turned hard. "Did he hurt you or something?"
Zack's head snapped up in surprise. What? Angeal sounded like he was out for blood, and that was rare for him. Angeal could be overprotective sometimes. Although Angeal didn't say it out loud, Zack could sense it that he didn't approve of his relationship with Sephiroth.
Zack put his hand comfortingly on Angeal's arm, trying to quell his anger. "No, no, he didn't, so don't try to kill him or anything, okay?" Zack said almost beseechingly.
Angeal's nostrils flared, keeping his emotions grounded. "Then what happened?"
There was no point to pretend in front of Angeal. Angeal could always find out how he was feeling, it was like he could sniff out his emotions. At this rate, it was easier to admit, besides, he might even get some professional advice from Angeal.
Angeal put his hand onto Zack's hand, sending tingling pleasures down Zack's spine. "You can always tell me everything, you know," Angeal said gently.
"Really?" Zack said looking at Angeal with big cute puppy dog eyes.
Angeal cracked a smile at him nodded his head.
"Okay, but can we talk somewhere else? It's too crowded here." Zack said. The cafeteria was so full of people that you were never too sure who was eavesdropping and the last thing he would want was to let others know about his relationship with Sephiroth.
"Sure, pup," Angeal said. The chair creaked loudly as he stood up with his tray, Zack rose together with him. "Let's go?"
"I thought you promised you'll stop?" Zack whined.
"Yeah, yeah, Zack." Angeal's eyes twinkled mischievously.
Zack was still grumbling after Angeal as he followed behind him. He only finished half of his food but he wasn't hungry so he dumped the rest of the food in the garbage. Food wasting was bad but how could he eat when his mind was so full of messed up thoughts?
Angeal dumped his tray on the way out. "So, where do you want to talk?"
Zack pondered for a few moments. "How about your office? We wouldn't be overheard there."
"Sure," Angeal agreed.
Zack suddenly stopped in his tracks and looked at Angeal intently, he had never loved his mentor more at the moment. Zack counted himself very lucky for having someone like Angeal by his side, although Angeal was a cheapskate sometimes, especially when it came to his Buster Sword, he actually used it once to save Zack's life. Zack was really touched by his gesture. He knew how much the sword meant to Angeal after all. Angeal was always there for him, as his guide, his counsellor and best friend.
"What's wrong? Something on my face?" Angeal asked, touching his own face pointedly.
Was it him or did Angeal's cheeks turned slightly red? Without thinking of the consequences, Zack threw himself on Angeal, wrapping his arms around Angeal's neck and hugging him tightly.
"You're definitely the best! I love you so much, Angeal! Thanks!" Zack cried out while clinging to him tightly.
Angeal's body felt stiff under his touch and then a pair of hands were placed gently on his arm, slowly prying him away.
"Pup, please don't do this in public, people are going to misunderstand. Besides, what will Sephiroth said if he saw?" Angeal said gruffly, sounding embarrassed as he tugged on the collar of his black turtleneck.
If Angeal expected this as a means of cheering Zack up, it had a totally different effect on him. Zack did released his hold over him but instead of his usual joyous self, his head hung with defeat as he looked at the floor forlornly. "I sure hope he'll be jealous," Zack muttered darkly to himself.
"Pup–" Angeal began.
Zack cleared his throat, forcing a smile on his face as he – tried to – return to his normal hyperactive and childish self. He jogged on his two feet, a naughty idea born in his mind. "Race you to your office," Zack cried out loud and ran off in a whirlwind, leaving Angeal behind.
Angeal chuckled fondly, still the same adorable Zack. As if Zack thought that he could outrun him even with a head-start. "Hey, you're cheating, wait up," Angeal shouted as he chased after his mentee.
A 1st Class SOLDIER had some privileges such as their own personalised uniform and weapon as well as their own cubicles together with the other executives at Level 61. Special access was required to access the floor but Angeal cleared Zack's access for him last time with the reason that as his mentor, Zack would need to frequently meet up with Angeal.
With Angeal's rank, pretty much everything was approved, grudgingly even if by Director Lazard. It was one of the perks of being the highest rank SOLDIERS in Shinra.
Unlike Director Lazard's big and spacious office, his office was smaller with just a table and a few chairs. Being a simple man, Angeal didn't put much decoration for his office, with just a few books in a bookshelf on the right and sometimes a dumb apple on his desk. Even though the space was tiny and cramped, Zack enjoyed the space where they could just be themselves without worrying about how others think.
Both of them were breathless when they reached Angeal's office, but with broad smiles on their faces as they grinned at one another. Just like good ol' times.
Zack plopped down in a sweaty mess on Angeal's chair, leaning back as far as he could. "Whew, you sure are fast," Zack glanced at Angeal in admiration.
"I am a 1st Class SOLDIER, what do you expect?" Angeal said, standing next to Zack, looking totally fine except for a few beads of sweat peppering his forehead and his black turtleneck stuck to his well-defined body.
"Hey, I'm soon to be one too, okay?" Zack said defensively.
Angeal smiled at him, ruffling up his black spikes. "Yeah, yeah. So what did you want to tell me?"
The happiness inside him dissipated just like that. The fun he had with Angeal sent all his worries away, now that Angeal mentioned it, he suddenly didn't feel like saying anything anymore. What if he was just thinking too much? Sephiroth wasn't one to easily express his feelings. What did he expect anyway? Sephiroth reciting love poems for him? Expressing his love for Zack everyday? Heck. Sephiroth would hardly even speak if he didn't have to.
Zack sighed deeply.
Angeal suddenly leaned in close and he felt a warm hand down the side of his cheek as Angeal rubbed away a trail of sweat from his face tenderly.
Zack could feel the heat rising to his cheek. "Angeal, I'm not a kid anymore," Zack said, turning his head away.
"Are you sure?" Angeal asked teasingly, walking over to the armchair opposite Zack. "You know you can tell me everything right?" Angeal's voice turned serious, the way it always did when he was giving one of his usual pep talks. "I won't tease you or anything, just tell me, maybe I can help you," he prompted. "I'm your mentor after all." Angeal pulled his chair closer to the table, propping his arm on the table, so that he was leaning over to Zack.
"But this is so… embarrassing," Zack whispered, unknowingly, he also leaned in closer.
Both of them were now leaning so close one another, holding each other's gaze.
"Try me," Angeal muttered throatily.
Zack looked at him abashedly then the words blurted out from his mouth. "It's Sephiroth." Squeezing one eye open, he peered at Angel wondering how he was going to take it, or maybe he was laughing at what an idiot he was.
Angeal suddenly withdrew back, looking cold. "Oh. Problems with Sephiroth again?" Angeal said sharply, like he sounded almost displeased.
"That's all you going to say?" Zack was surprised by the sudden change in his emotions.
"Continue."
Zack laced his fingers on top of the table, swallowing back his doubt. Angeal was the only one who knew him so well, besides he was Sephiroth's best friend, he should have some inside info about Sephiroth.
"You know that Seph and I have been going out for quite a while, right?" Zack asked.
Angeal nodded slightly, his face still calm but there was a hard edge in his eyes.
Zack fidgeted with his fingers as he continued, "Well, after all this time, Seph never told me he love me once or took me out on dates. Is that normal? Are we really a couple?"
After thinking for a while, Angeal replied in a slow and heavy voice, "Well, Sephiroth is never the type to easily say how he feels. He probably think that it's not important or necessary to say such trivial matters, to him, at least. Did you try ask him when you are alone?"
"I, well, I never had the chance," Zack hedged.
"Is he always that busy that he didn't have time for you?"
"He did give me his time, it's just…" Zack twiddled his fingers. "It's mainly snogging and…" He trailed off suggestively. "You know how young hot blooded males are."
Angeal seemed to get the message because his nostrils flared and a shadow fell over his face. "If there're so many problems, shouldn't you guys call it quits while you can?" Angeal asked in an offhand tone.
Zack burst out laughing until he realised that Angeal was completely serious. "Wait, that wasn't a joke?" His laugh froze halfway, and he looked away, running his hand through his black spikes abashedly.
Angeal gazed back at him steadfastly.
"You can't be serious, Angeal, what kind of people call it quits when they faced problems in their relationship? Shouldn't the couple tried to work it out?" Zack whined.
"Reasonable people do that," Angeal said stiffly.
"Is that how you always solve your relationship problems?" Zack blurted out before he could stop himself. His tongue always got the better of him and he said things without thinking or filtering first. How could he be such an idiot? He had never saw or heard of Angeal being in a relationship. Maybe that was the reason that he couldn't relate so well. Angeal was excellent in every aspect, but every person must have their own limitation, this must be Angeal's.
Angeal didn't seemed angry by his words, he actually looked quite calm. "I'm not in a relationship with anyone at the moment. But if I am, I hope that the person can know how I feel about him all the time so he would never have to doubt himself or herself," he added hastily.
Zack cocked his head to the side, studying his mentor. That was quite some speech.
"Zack?"
"You know, I'm curious, how did you always know how I'm feeling?"
"Because I'm always looking at you," Angel replied seriously.
Zack wanted to burst out in another round of laughter, but the laugh froze in his throat, Angeal looked so serious that Zack didn't know when he was kidding. He took a closer look into those mako blue orbs, same like his. Angeal looked deadly serious.
"Oh, Angeal, you're as funny as always," Zack said with a laugh, trying to break the awkward silence in the office.
Angeal remained quiet as he gazed determinedly him, those sapphire orbs burned with an unknown fire. The atmosphere in the office was getting weirder and weirder.
Zack shook his head with a small smile. "Damn, man, you know what, forget I ever ask, maybe I was over reacting."
"Zack–"
"But you're right, couples should talk out their feelings with one another," Zack said, pushing the chair slightly behind him as he got ready to leave. "I'll have a talk with Sephiroth… when he's back."
"Why not just leave Sephiroth and fall in love with me instead?" The words escaped from Angeal's lips, he looked surprised that he uttered those words.
"Is this a joke?" Zack began with a strained smile.
"I'm serious, Zack," Angeal replied without an ounce of humour in his voice.
Zack's eyes widened with the slightest traces of fear but then he cleared his throat and forced a smile on his face. "Stop it, Angeal. I never knew you are so good at making fun of people," Zack said, his heart starting to thump like mad.
"I'm not making fun of you, why wouldn't you believe me?" Angeal said, his tone hard. "I've had enough of all this." Something in his eyes shifted, those friendly looking orbs turned hard, his gentle features turned to stone.
"An–" Before Zack could finish his sentence, Angeal leaned in and kissed him hard on the lips, taking him completely by surprise.
Angeal was losing control of himself. Big time.
Every time he was around Zack, he had to control himself not to touch Zack, even though he burned with desire. Angeal thought that he had perfect control of his actions when Zack followed him into the office, he thought that they could have a joke around like usual, he even thought that they could bond in his office.
This was more than he asked for.
Angeal had the longest crush on Zack, which was the main reason he took his mentor all those years ago. He never dared to express his feelings, unsure of how Zack would react to another guy's confession. Angeal knew that Zack never once guessed that Angeal was deeply in love with him. He could be very dense and oblivious to such things at times.
Just when he made up his mind to confess, Zack dropped the bombshell that he was going out with Sephiroth. Angeal still remembered the excited look on Zack's face when he told him that he's going out with Sephiroth. Angeal felt like he was punched in the gut, his heart shattered to pieces but he could only swallow back the bitter bile of rejection and forced a smile on his face as he congratulated him.
"Angeal!" Zack gasped, breaking for air but Angeal kissed him again. And again. A groan rumbled at the back of his throat. Zack was better and sweeter than he had ever imagined.
Angeal broke the kiss rapidly, his entire body was flushed with heat and his breathing heavy. Zack probably thought that the worse was over as he rose from the chair stumblingly, looking like he was going to bolt away.
Angeal crossed over to his side instantly, grabbing him by the shoulders and shoving him against the book racks. The books thudded against one another in the wooden rack.
"An–"
Angeal pressed his whole body against him, kissing him violently. He had always imagined kissing Zack, but in his imagination, he was gentle and sweet. It was nothing like this.
Zack pushed him with all his might but Angeal planted his feet firmly on the ground, refusing to budge an inch.
"An–" Zack murmured.
Using the chance, Angeal slipped his tongue in, probing his mouth open wider, exploring every inch of him. Zack gave a little gasp, he had no choice but to comply. He buried his hand in Zack's soft spikes, feeling him trembled under his touch, his body turning weak as he melted in his arms.
His breathing was getting harsh and he was getting a very hard erection below. Angeal pulled Zack even closer, enjoying the warmth of his body against him. He wanted to get closer to Zack. He was pleasantly surprise when he felt a hard bulge pressed against him.
Zack's struggles were becoming weaker, as if he had given up. Angeal thought that Zack finally caved in when suddenly he gave him an almighty push and shouted, "Angeal! Stop it!"
This time, Zack's yells finally got into Angeal's head. Angeal pulled back, totally stunned at himself.
What. The. Heck. Did. He. Just. Do.
He took a step back, staring at Zack who remained slumped against the book rack, feeling horrified with what just happened. Zack rubbed away the trails of saliva from the corner of his lips, those pink lips swollen from the ferocity of the kiss.
The cold air hit his brain hard and good, clearing his senses. Control had always been one of his strong points, and he had proven his point more than once especially when he was around Sephiroth and Genesis who often got carried away with their emotions. Him, who had always preached others about dreams, honour and pride just did something dishonourable and shameful like this…
How would Zack, his mentee thought about him after this? Angeal lost all his rights to become his mentor. All he ever truly wanted was to stay by Zack's side, even if he had to play the role as his perfect mentor. He never expected that it would be this hard, especially when Zack wanted help about his relationship with Sephiroth. His patience was worn down day by day, even more when he saw how lovey-dovey Zack was with Sephiroth.
Today, Angeal reached his limit.
Angeal couldn't tear his eyes away from Zack who looked so broken, like Angeal had hurt him deeply, he reached out a hand, wanting to comfort him but then he withdrew his hand. He should go immediately, before he did another regrettable act.
"I'm sorry," Angeal muttered, then with one last desperate look at Zack, he turned and ran out from his office.
Zack stood rooted to the spot for a few seconds, his mind still whirling from the crazy, intense experience just now. Before he could even grip – anything to balance himself and – what was going on, Angeal uttered those farewell words and departed hastily.
"Angeal!" Zack cried out, exiting the office after Angeal. "Angeal, wait!" He needed an explanation. What just happened? Was it a joke? Damn.
The hallway was completely empty, not even a footstep. Which direction did Angeal headed? He walked to the right a few steps, before backtracking back to the left side to see whether he could catch sight of him. Nope. It was like he completely disappeared into thin air.
His mind was in a mess, what with Sephiroth and now Angeal. He barely had the energy to stand any longer, like he was going to faint on the spot. The weight of everything crashed down on him, making his mind blur and foggy, and a constant ringing sound echoed by his ears. Zack backtracked slowly into Angeal's office, sinking down to the floor, his back against the door as he stared at Angeal's empty office.
Angeal totally blindsided him.
He couldn't believe that he didn't saw this coming, he always thought that Angeal treated him the way he did because he was his mentor. That was all. That was why he never once suspected that…
How could he be so blind? And how could Angeal just dumped him there after kissing him? What was going to happened to them? And to make things worse, Zack realised with a groan, that it must have been torturous for Angeal when he kept pouring his relationship problems to him.
What must Angeal thought of him?
And… finally, the finale, the worst part of today's incident, the cherry on top of the cream – he should feel disgusted that he was kissed by another guy, but when Angeal kissed him… if he was being truly honest with himself, it felt… great…
Heat seared up his body. He didn't know that Angeal was so adept at kissing. With his lips pressed upon his with urgency, his hand cupping the side of his cheek, his tongue exploring his mouth, the heat of passion almost burned him to ashes. If not for his self control, he would have drown in Angeal's kisses.
Wait, why was he thinking about that?! That wasn't what he should be worried now.
Frustrated, he ran his finger through his black spikes, his fingers tangled in his own hair. With another groan of frustration, Zack gave up on his tangled hair – and mind.
"Damn you, Angeal," Zack whispered self-consciously.
