A/N: It's 2016, I've been gone for over 2 years, and hello once again, you lovely amazing people!
I realise the Kaichou Wa Maid Sama community must've undergone a series of changes in the past couple of years, so hello and welcome to all the new faces who might be reading this. To all my older readers- what did I do to deserve you awesome people, that despite me taking off for so long- you're still back here?!
Thank you so much for all your encouragement and ensuring me there was no pressure to update. I hope you're all reading this so that you know how much it meant to me that you understood :') I love you all, and this chapter is for all of you out there who have read, reviewed, put it on your story alerts/ favourites, who have given me suggestions on what to write about, and have stayed with this story! ^^

Dani- Hello! ^^ I'm so happy you like this story! :') I'll look into writing more sick fics ;)
CheekyDevil13- I completely agree. I am really happy that you didn't get offended, because it wasn't my intention to hurt anybody's sentiments by making the teacher Indian. I have a lot of Indian friends, and they tell me all sorts of amazing stories about their school days. I believe there are all kinds of people- good and bad- in every place, so your nationality has nothing to do with whether you're nice or not. Thank you so much for your review! x :)
Well phew. Long author's note. Anyway, on with the story! Excuse the little rustiness of this. It's been a while since I wrote for TFTWAC :P This was inspired by the fact that it is so. DAMN. hot here! The heat has been killing me!
Listen to "Hageshii Ne" (Maid Sama OST) when it says "THWACK!" in the fic, and "Usui no Hikari kage" (Maid Sama OST) when it says "Usui slowed down…." in the fic. I did while writing it, and it gave me a rush! :P Just a suggestion, you don't have to ^^
DISCLAIMER- I don't own Maid Sama
Summer Wars (3rd Person POV)
It was a normal day. A normal, sunny day in April. Except that the temperature of Japan had suddenly decided to plummet into the depths of hell.
Misaki and Usui lay in his apartment, staring at the ceiling in abandonment, limbs sprawled and beads of sweat trickling down their skin.
It was a rare occasion- to have absolutely nothing to do. Misaki was free, for a change, and Usui- being Usui- had proposed they spend the day at his place, just having a low-key date. For a change, Misaki hadn't complained- because the weather was too. damn. distracting.
"Why is it so hot, Usui?"
Usui turned to look at Misaki, who was staring up, her nose twitching. "I don't know, Prez."
"Did you tell your alien planet to do this?" she turned to glare at him "You did, didn't you?"
He chuckled "Maybe my planet is cold. You never know."
She snorted "Of course it's cold. Like your soul. That explains how you always went around rejecting those girls with no empathy whatsoever!"
He nudged her playfully "Well, you warned me up nice and good."
Mistake went pink and rapped his head "Shut up!" She rolled around, and Usui got temporarily distracted by the way her neckline curved, falling down to reveal the white skin underneath her collarbones. He swallowed.
Well…it was definitely getting hotter.
Change the topic, Usui.
"How about we do something to distract ourselves?"
Mistake turned to look at him suspiciously "Like what, exactly?"
"Well…" he pretended to think "We could cook."
She gave him an exasperated look 'Cook? And get even more sweaty?! What is wrong with you?!"
"We could watch a movie."
She rolled around again and Usui fought the urge to pull her cheeks. She was so adorable. "Noooo. I can't stay still for that long."
"We could go out and hang out at Maid Latter There is an air conditioner there." he offered, fanning her with a wooden hand fan.
She thought for a minute "Tempting…but no. Those three idiots will be there." she looked around his apartment "Why don't you have an air conditioner? Are't you supposed to be really rich or something?"
"No, my family is." he replied shortly "I try not to live on their money, if I can."
"What d'you mean?" Misaki looked at him quizzically "Whose money do you live on then?"
"My father left me a small sum before he passed away." Usui cleared his throat "The apartment is paid for by my adoptive father, but I live by on my own when I can."
"Oh." Mistake blinked, not knowing what to say, and then turned her head back to the ceiling "Well, no Maid Latte it is."
Usui laughed and nudged her "You know, Prez….we could just…remove all these clothes if they're bothering you that much-"
"Wha-?! Shut up, idiot!" Mistake spluttered and in a breadth of a second, had slid away from him and was crouching on the other corner of the room, covering her body and poised ready to attack, like a cat on full alert.
Usui grinned "My, my, Misa is shy? ...But I wonder why though? I mean…I've already seen everything…"
"Sh-shut up before I punch you, you alien! That- that was a one-time special thing! Don't you get any ideas!"
"But I was simply suggesting we have a shower-"
"That is not any better!"
"Aww, c'mon Prez, we've been dating for over a year…"
"I dont-!" and then Mistake's expression drastically changed and she paused, deep in thought. "Wait. That's actually not a bad idea."
Usui blinked in shock, staring at her. What did she just say?
He swallowed. Okay, now it was getting hotter. The heat had clearly messed with Misaki's head.
"That is…? Not a bad idea..?" he asked, blank.
"Yes!" She looked up at him, and her eyes were shining. In that instant, Usui knew that he was going to terribly regret this.
"Okay, you guys! Now listen up! There are rules!"
Usui stood there, staring blankly ahead as Misaki began to start talking. It was six pm, and he was standing in the park, along with Satsuki, Aoi, Erica- all three who were off shift from Maid Latte, Sakura and Shizuko- who after a quick introduction with them as Misaki's other friends had settled in, Shintani, the three idiots (despite Misaki's cautious invitations, they had somehow gotten whiff of what had been going on, and had barged in), a scared looking Yukimura and Keigo- all armed with water guns.
Usui was still wondering how in the name of hell Misaki had come up with "water gun fight" from "let's have a shower together". And how the hell had everybody else agreed to do it?! He should have never opened his mouth in the first place.
"The park is divided into two territories! There are going to be two teams- blue and red." Misaki explained, hands on her hips "Whoever gets wet gets out, and has to stay out until someone else from their team gets out. Then, they replace them! There is a flag at the end of both territories. You enter enemy grounds, grab their flag and run your way back to your own territory! Whoever captures the flag first wins! There are bushes and trees and rocks all over the park you can hide in, but you cannot cross the boundaries and go over the pavement!" she looked around at the group of unenthusiastic faces- who, for her sake, let out a grumble of unmotivated cheers. "Any questions?!"
The hands of the three idiots shot up immediately "Can we please be on your team?!"
Misaki looked at them, and then replied bluntly. "No."
"AWWWWW COME ONNN MISAKI! COME ON COME ON-"
"How are we going to choose teams?" Satsuki pondered out loud "Most of us have never played Capture the Flag before with water guns!"
"It doesn't matter, I bet Usui's still going to be good at it." Erica remarked.
"Alright, then! The pervert alien is on the Blue team!" Misaki announced ini triumph, her eyes gleaming. She was beaming and Usui shook his head. Sometimes Misaki reminded him a lot of a cat- bossy, hyperactive, running all over the place madly when she wanted something, and scratching back violently if stroked or touched. "Decide your team members and let the game begin!"
Usui was watching Misaki from the other side of the park, his eye twitching. She had taken that fool Shintani in her team.
Well….its not like Usui had left her much choice, blatantly refusing to take Shintani til he'd been the last left to pick. Still, Usui had been hoping neither of them would pick Shintani, effectively kicking him out of the game- something that had happened to the three idiots, who now lay in the corner of the park, bawling their eyes out and crying out to the gods of love that it wasn't fair.
"Okay!" Misaki turned, eyes flashing with determination as she faced Usui along with her team of Aoi, Sakura, Shintani and Yukimura. "You guys ready?!"
Erica turned to Usui "Usui! What's the game plan?"
Usui stared back at her blankly, then turned, aimed at Shintani and shot out a squirt of water at him straight in the eye.
"OWW! What the HECK, Usui! What are you trying to do!? I don't get why I'm always..."
Usui turned to smile at Erica as Shintani continued to ramble on. "Shoot them like this!"
"ENOUGH!" Misaki yelled "Usui, stop assaulting my team players, you weird idiot! Play the game!"
Usui turned to smirk at her "Why don't we place a bet on who wins?"
Misaki paused as silence fell around them. "Excuse me?"
"You know, a harmless bet." Usui smiled innocently "I bet on my team winning."
"Fine, I bet on mine." Misaki said, folding her arms "For how much?"
"Well, instead of money, I was thinking...we give a task." Usui replied lightly. Everybody around them slowly began to back away from the crackling energy between the two.
Misaki raised a brow "What do you mean we give a task?"
Usui walked, closing in on her until he was a breath away from her "I mean…the winning captain gets to assign a task for the losing captain." Usui smirked and watched as Misaki's eyes narrowed, a fiery blush rising to her cheeks "What d'you say?"
"I'm not going to play your stupid games."
He tilted his head innocently "Scared I'll win, Prez?"
Her fists clenched and in that instant, he knew she was in. He mentally patted himself on the back. Whenever you wanted to get Misaki to do something- all you had to do was challenge her.
"You wish." she said, placing her hand forward "Fine. It's a bet."
He shook hands with her, eyes flashing.
Oh...now this was going to get interesting...
Sakura and Yukimura were turning out to be terrible at this.
Misaki ran over and crouched behind a bush, panting heavily. She was sweating. She looked over at Sakura, who was currently sitting outside the boundary, waiting for someone to get out so that she could join back in. A second later, there was a helpless yell, and Yukimura was making his way over dejectedly to replace Sakura on the benches.
Misaki sighed- it was becoming like a game for both of them- nobody else was getting out from her team except for those two. They were just in an endless loop of replacing each other, soaked to their toes. Well…Misaki took a heavy breath, at least they were not complaining and playing along and trying to enjoy. Besides, the other two in her team were really good. Shintani and Aoi were running and blocking and aiming left, right and centre- making up for the lack of defence and keeping an eye out for Usui (who was nowhere to be seen), engaging the other team long enough to give Misaki the opportunity to sneak her way out to their territory without having to worry about her flag.
But- her gaze shifted to Erica- Usui's team was similarly good, if not slightly at an advantage. Satsuki was helpless and sitting out on the benches most of the time, but dammit, Erica was good! She was aiming at Sakura and defending herself from Aoi's and Shintani's attack and protecting their flag- all that the same time! Keigo was equally good, and he looked like he was immensely enjoying himself. He could have taken Shintani head on, but he seemed to be having entirely too much fun aiming for Yukimura and watching the little vice-president scream and freak out every time.
Misaki watched as Yukimura finally jogged back in- and Keigo, grinning sneakily, started to run after him. Yelling helplessly, Yukimura tripped and Keigo shot Yukimura straight on the nose, getting him out before he could even begin to play. Yukimura looked dangerously close to tears. Misaki blinked as she saw Keigo's eyes soften as he laughed and lent out a hand to Yukimura. The green-haired boy caught on, fumbling on to his feet, making his way to the benches for the umpteenth time, wishing Sakura luck, and not noticing that Keigo's eyes were following him, a smile playing on his lips. Misaki shook her head…the two had become really good friends. Looked like they were having fun as well.
She looked around, ears perking up.
But where the hell as Usui?!
Shizuko was busy with Sakura and Shintani, and everybody else was engrossed in the game, yelling out instructions and cautionary warnings, but Usui….Usui was nowhere to be seen.
Misaki gritted her teeth. If there was anybody who could possibly beat her in this, it was him. She needed to be one step ahead of him. She was not letting him win that bet- who knew what sort of sick, perverted task he would come up with for her?! Her grip on her water gun tightened. No. She could not let him win, at any cost.
"MI- SA- KIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII!" the loud roar nearly made her jump out of her hiding place.
What in the name of-?! Misaki turned to find the three idiots were hopping outside the boundaries. They wore cute cat ears on the top of their heads, clutching pom-poms and cheering on, dancing and doing back-flips, shouting on top of their lungs as they jumped around.
"What the hell…"
"WE LOVE YOU, EVEN IF YOU DIDN'T CHOOSE US-!" one of them yelled.
"AT FIRST WE WERE UPSET…"
"BUT THEN WE REALISED TRUE LOVE IS ABOUT MAKING THE OTHER PERSON HAPPY, NO MATTER WHAT!"
"SO WE CHOOSE YOU! WE'RE GONNA WIIIN, AND WE'RE GONNA SUPPORT YOU THROUGH THIS!"
"Hey! Shut the hell up, we're trying to play!"
"Get outta the boundaries, you morons!"
"Stop talking about true love AND STOP THROWING YOUR POM-POMS AT OUR FACES! THAT'S AGAINST THE RULES!"
Misaki slapped her forehead, shaking her head. She needed to win this. She had instructed her team well, they would do fine on their own.
She sank further into the bushes to make sure she wasn't being seen, and looked around.
Now where the hell was Usui….?
Usui stood on the tree behind the bush Misaki was currently hiding in, watching her closely. The game outside was controlled chaos- with the three idiots dancing and often jumping in his team's way, but both their teams were doing an excellent job at defending their own flag, trusting Usui and Misaki to capture the other team's flag.
He looked down at Misaki. She looked cute, her nose all scrunched up in concentration and eyes narrowed as she observed the game going on, her hand hooked onto her gun, ready to shoot at a second's notice. He was waiting for her to make a move. The minute she would try to go for his flag, he was going to attack her, get her out, and run over and capture her team's flag. He knew he would have no problem fighting off the rest of her teammates- so long as she was on the benches, because she was his only threat. She could get him out, and he was not going to risk it. Especially not now, not after the bet.
He smirked, watching her as she peered over the bushes every now and then. He wondered what she was thinking about. Was she curious about his absence? Frustrated that she couldn't find him?
If that was the case though, then they might end up playing till night, and forfeiting the game- and he could not let that happen. Forfeiting meant no winning, and that meant no bet. If both of them continued to wait for the other to make the first movie, then they would be waiting here for a long time. If there was one thing Usui knew from experience- it was that Misaki took forever to make the first move.
He glanced around. He needed to do something to make her act. His gaze fell on the bushes a few feet away from her- that should give him a head start. Looking around and not finding anything he could throw, he grabbed his own shoe. Aiming for it, he mustered up all his power and threw it over at the bushes with a loud THWACK!
Like a cat that reacts by the milli-second, Misaki reacted instantly, jumping up and aiming, blindly beginning to shoot at the bushes with all her might.
"Attagirl." Usi smirked, readying himself and jumping down from the tree, landing gracefully on his knees behind her.
Almost as if on cue, Misaki turned and realised her mistake a second too late. Her eyes set on him, wide, as he began to sprint over towards her territory.
"SHINTANI! AOI! FLAG!" she yelled on top of her lungs, and spun around, racing over to Usui's territory as fast as she could.
This was it. Usui thought as he aimed his gun directly at Shintani. Whoever gets the flag and makes it back first wins. It's no longer a game. It's a race.
Erica, Keigo and Shizuko- on the other hand- had all turned to Misaki, running and shooting after her. Aoi and Yukimura and Sakura ran forward, shooting at them, covering for Misaki. Aoi knew better than to sacrifice himself by going after Usui, deciding to cover for his captain instead.
This is it. Usui was all alone in Misaki's territory, whereas she and her team were battling his team on his side. Shintani was out of the picture, yelling and cheering for Misaki from the benches. This was going to be a piece of cake. Usui felt a headrush as he grabbed the read flag, whipping around and running as fast as he could over to the territory line- almost at the same time as Misaki.
He had to say- he was impressed. It was chaos over on her side. Her team was aiming for his team, who were aiming for her as she ran for her life, zig-zagging past water shots and not letting even one drop touch her, clutching onto the bright blue flag with all her might. Nobody cared about getting out now, or replacing the other. Erica, Keigo and Shizuko were running in a desperate attempt to surround Misaki, while Aoi, Sakura and Yukimura ran towards them to make way for their captain. Misaki, with her arms raised, ran on top speed, aimlessly shooting water everywhere, causing the others to back away.
Usui looked over and caught her eye, and smirked, eyes flashing.
And then, something strange happened.
Misaki's eyes widened as she saw him, realising that he was much closer than she was. Gritting her teeth, she shut her eyes tightly, looking painfully powerless, pushing herself even more- throwing her everything into trying to win…
Usui slowed down, feeling a weird chilling sensation course through her veins. Around him, the loud cheers of "COME OOOOOON MISAKIIII! YOU CAN DO IT! RUN! RUN!" echoed through his mind, as if coming from somewhere distant.
Her hair tied up, with a few strands falling into her eyes, Misaki's muscles were tight, jaw clenched as she ran, and Usui couldn't help but stare.
How does she do that? Give her best, try and try and not stop, despite anything?
Everything around her was a loud mess- and yet still she was focused on herself, willing herself to go on.
Usui laughed slowly, and began to slow his pace. Maybe this was why he was so madly in love with her. He looked over at Misaki, whose eyes were now open and wide- as she came to the realisation that he was stopping.
His gaze softened as he watched her run forward, and he smiled.
The were a deafening roar of triumph as she ran past the boundary, and the three idiots went absolutely mental.
"AND AS ALWAYS- THE AMAZING MISAKI AYUZAWA HAS WON THE GAME FOR THE RED TEAM! RED TEAM ARE THE CHAMPIOOOOOOOOOOOOONNNNSSSS!"
"Well that turned out to be a lot of fun!" Erica exclaimed "I had no idea I was so good!"
"Neither did I." Shintani said excitedly, wiping his brow with a hand towel as the rest of them sat around, cooling off at Maid Latte. Sakura and Shizuko had excused themselves early, and Keigo and Yukimura had had dinner plans. Keigo had sure looked surprisingly pleased with himself after the game, despite being surrounded by a gaggle of girls.
"It didn't make it any less hot, which was really the whole point of it, in the first place." Misaki replied, eyes closed "I think I forgot how much we have to run in the sun."
"Well I'm hungry!" Shintani announced happily "And after winning, it just feels so great to sit and have dinner and celebrate with your team!"
"You always feel great when it comes to eating free food" Usui commented.
"Usui!"
"I agree with Hinata!" Satsuki said, emerging from the kitchens with a huge food trolley "Its always fun to celebrate a good game with your team over food! And that's why- today, we have food on the house! Eat to your heart's content!" At the puppy dog eyes the three idiots were throwing at her, she laughed "You guys, as well. You couldn't play, but you were excellent cheerleaders!"
"Are you sure, considering how much Shintani eats?"
"Usui!"
The manager laughed, amidst the three idiots' cheers and salutes and tears of happiness "Let him enjoy, Usui. And you do too! Everybody played so well today!" she smiled, patting Misaki "Especially our Misaki!"
"I know, right!" Erica remarked "For a second, I thought we'd had her. But she came on stronger than ever before!"
Misaki shook her head, going pink "N-No, it's n-nothing like that-!"
"Well, it's not exactly a surprise." Aoi said, back in his cutesy girly attire, biting into an apple and looking at Misaki "She always overdoes herself."
"N-no! I'm s-serious! Usui- he played so much better-"
"Yeah, but we won, Misa."
"C'mon let's celebrate! Less talking, more eating!"
As everybody began digging into their food, busy in conversation, Misaki glanced over at Usui.
He let me win. It had been eating her ever since the game had ended. She had wanted to win, of course, but not like this. He was so much faster. Why did he let me win?!
Usui glanced up, noticing her eyes on him "What is it? Something the matter?"
"I….erm…" Misaki's expression turned solemn "You…you let me win."
Usui looked at her for a second, then turned back to his cake "I don't know what you're taking about."
"Wha-?! You so do!" she leaned over to hiss at him in a low voice. "Why d'you let me win?!"
"I honestly don't know what you're talking about, Prez. You crossed the line first."
"Don't play with me! You and I both know you're could've beat me! You were one step ahead of me, but you slowed down! Why?"
Usui laughed and turned to look at her. She was always so passionate about everything she did. So cute when she got all worked up like this. Her hair had been tied up in a messy bun, a few strands falling into her eyes and the red flush of exercise turning her skin pink. He wanted to kiss her so damn bad…
He shook his head at her softly "Always so stubborn, huh?"
She blinked "Wh-what?"
He chuckled, pulling his chair back. He got up and smiled down at her, shrugging "Sometimes…you realise true love is about making the other person happy, no matter what."
Misaki's eyes widened, and she sat there, immobile as Usui began to walk away. He halted for a second, and then just as he was about to go, leaned forward to whisper in her ear "Oh, and prez? Come up with a good task for me, yeah? Something that would make me very happy."
Blood rushed up Misaki's face as she went crimson, but before she could react or hit him, Usui had patted her shoulder and walked away.
Stuttering and blushing, she stayed glued to her seat. Th-that….that idiot!
"Misaki?" she looked up to see Shintani blinking at her with concern "You okay?"
"Oh y-yeah! I'm fine, don't worry!" she laughed, shaking her hands. As Shintani went back to his food, Misaki turned to glance at the kitchen door Usui had disappeared into, her eyes softening. Say what she may, Usui was always there for her, putting up with her rants, her temper, making sure she never ever felt alone. He always put her first- and maybe she was just coming to realise it, but it felt really good.
She sighed, touching her chest gingerly. What was this weird clutching of her heart? This tightening in her chest that fluttered every time he smiled at her? He never left any stone unturned to keep her happy.
Sometimes, you realise true love is about making the other person happy, no matter what.
She smiled, shaking her head and turning to the others, joining in their laughter and taking a bite off of Usui's cake.
Stupid alien Usui.
My stupid alien Usui.
