"It-it's not my story to tell," Shippo quietly answered, looking away from the piercing gaze of the older fox demon.

Kurama loosened his grip, caught off guard by the obnoxious fox's subdued reply. He asked, "Are you really willing to go to jail for her?"

"Yes," he answered without a shred of hesitation, lifting his head to meet Kurama's gaze. He quietly explained, "If it weren't for her, I probably wouldn't even be here right now. I owe her everything."

Kurama let him go. Whatever Shippo's relationship with Kagome was, a few idle threats wouldn't work. Running a hand through his hair in frustration, he asked, "Fine. Tell me what you can and I'll do my best to make sure Koenma doesn't find out about your relationship with her."

"Well, she's a priestess," he replied, starting with the basics, and with information he knew Kurama was already aware of. From the cold look the older fox shot him, Shippo decided to drop the games lest he end up in a death plant. "Her last year of middle school was tough for her. That's when she discovered demons existed. She also lost some people pretty close to her."

Kurama nodded his head. It really wasn't much, but it was a starting point. He asked another question that has been bothering him for a while. "Is she a threat like Koenma seems to think?"

Shippo snorted in wry amusement and said, "No way. She's more of a threat to herself, she's awfully clumsy."

A powerful priestess like Kagome was clumsy. The thought brought a small grin to Kurama's face.

"Kagome's pretty trusting, if you ask her she'd probably tell you the whole story," Shippo admitted before taking off. Leaving Kurama to ponder on the enigma that was Kagome.
