I am all you've ever wanted,
What all the other boys all promised.

Okay I Believe You, But My Tommy Gun Don't - Brand New

Blood red contrasts against white blond and that's really all they are; contrast.

She's smilely confidence and fiery anger while he's cool arrogance and subtle cunning and really they shouldn't even be talking to each other let alone be pressed together against the hard stone wall of an abandoned corridor after dark.

He's everything that's forbidden to her and she turns her head away from him, causing a curtain of that blood red hair to fall into her pretty face. But they're still so close and she doesn't make to move away. With a pale hand and a gentleness you wouldn't expect from a Malfoy, Scorpius pushes the hair back behind her ear and leans his face down close to hers.

He whispers in her ear in a soft voice that runs shivers down her spine, and she closes her eyes, willing herself to stay strong, not too crumble to pieces underneath him. For what is Lily Potter, if not strong?

"I am all you ever wanted."

It's true of course; she's always wanted what she can't have. He's an age-old enemy of her family, the breaker of her cousin's heart and a complete player (just like her). She should hate him, and maybe she sort of does. But what she hates is the smirks he sends her in the corridors, the way he makes her forget what she's saying mid-sentence, how easily he convinced her to follow him here tonight.

It was always going to be her innate taste for danger that would be her undoing.

His voice is merely a breath tickling her skin as he continues.

"What all the other boys all promised…"

The other boys.

There's been so many, Lily's probably couldn't count –or at least name- them all, but they were always the same. They promised, oh they all promised, but Lily couldn't ever stay interested for long enough to give them the chance to keep their word (or to break it). Whatever promises of the stars they had though, they had never made her feel like this.

They're two too strong characters and when they meet it's more of a collision than anything else and they'll emerge from the wreckage broken yet beautiful, for what are they but beautiful broken messes, destined to seek and destroy? They've now just set their targets on each other.

She tells herself that he's just like all the others; that she can -and will- throw him aside before long, but her heart's beating harder and faster than it ever has before and honestly, she's always been a liar.

She gives in to him, of course. She was always going to.
