Here's a story I wrote a while ago...time really flies, hey?
Temari laid down on the hill's top, smiling.
"Aren't you happy today," said Shikamaru, walking up to the hill.
She grinned. "Very."
Shikamaru sat down next to her, watching the clouds. "May I ask why?"
"I don't know, today just seems so...nice."
"Uhuh."
She sat up. "I love the feel of the breeze in the air. I love the how the sky seems so bright today. I love the feeling of the soft grass beneath me, and I love the serenity this place gives."
Shikamaru smirked. "Who are you and where's Temari?" he said playfully.
She gave him a soft hit with her fan. "Shut up."
"There she is," he said, chuckling.
They sat in silence for a while.
"So you really like this place, huh?"
"I love it."
He rolled his eyes, and Temari raised an eyebrow. "What?"
"Love," he began, closing his eyes and leaning back on the tree behind him. "Such an overused word."
"What's that meant to mean?"
"I love the stars, I love the beach, I love this place, I love these chips. The word seems to have lost its value to me."
He opened his eyes. "Love is such a powerful word because it's meant to describe a feeling we're passionate about, not about how much we like a pork bun or dumpling."
She smirked at the last part.
"I'm just saying that it has become a word people use too often, and in my opinion it loses its purpose, as its being used for what I think is the wrong thing."
"You have a point," she began. "But I don't think you like the word as much as say you do."
He looked at her.
"You are a person who doesn't use the word enough. In fact, the most I've ever heard you say it is right now, when you have criticised its use."
He smiled. "Yeah you're right. I'll make sure to say it, but only when I really mean it."
She kissed him. "Good. Please do so."
They sat in momentary silence, before Shikamaru broke it.
He leaned closer to her. "Well then how about this. I love the clouds, and I love our spot. Most of all though, is that I love you."
End.
