The Minotaur horn was my favorite demigod trophy.

When asked why, I would tell you. And I hope that you would understand.

The Minotaur was the first monster I had ever fought and unbelievably, I won. Even if the dude smelled like rotten beef and his boneheaded aggressiveness was kinda too much for my liking, he made me realize who and what I am.

I'm sure you've already guessed that. Being my first, the reason why the Minotaur horn's my favorite was a given.

There's a whole lot more to it than that, though.

I hated the fact that the owner of that misshapen horn mutilated my mother and made me believe that she was gone for good. But the horn made me restore the courage that I've somehow lost as I grew, decapitating my fear of being half-god, half-mortal. Made me realize that there were monsters out there. Vicious creatures that would prey on people like me and hurt their mothers, fathers, even their whole family in the process.

It willed me to never stop fighting.

The horn's currently in a shoebox somewhere in my cabin. I've kept my valuable possessions in that shoebox. I guess telling you that was completely unnecessary though.

It held a lot of horrible memories. My ADHD/dyslexic brain didn't like focusing on depressing things such as that so you guys must be wondering why it's still in the shoebox as a prized possession. Grover knew why I've kept the thing for so long. The guy has a freakish ability to know what I'm feeling, being a satyr with empathy powers and all. I wouldn't be surprised if he would announce that he could read minds as well. Grover knew what I'm feeling, though at first, he didn't quite understand why I was attached to something that made me "trek across the United States, angered two powerful gods and almost died a painful death." The answer wasn't much of a sophistication, really. Good thing he has Juniper. It made him understand a little more.

If it wasn't for that Minotaur…

I wouldn't have met Annabeth.

A/N: Hope that was short and sweet enough. Thanks for reading. Please review!
