Sorry it's a bit short this time. I'm moving back to New Zealand and my diary with all my pre-written chapters almost got thrown in the bin during the clean-up.

Disclaimer: I don't own FFVII nor its characters. I also don't own the ideas taken from Love Monster.

Cloud was somewhat surprised to see that all the Generals, Tseng, Reno and Rufus were all in Zack's apartment when he got home. Of course the Lieutenant was also there and they were all sitting on the couches seemingly discussing something.

"Is there a reason why everyone is here? Or can I pretend that I didn't see this and go straight to bed?" He questioned.

"We thought that you would have wanted to know what happened after the test." Angeal explained. "Also everyone else wanted to check how you were."

"I'm fine. A bit sleepy and still feeling really drained of magic despite being given an ether and a potion. I don't know why they don't stock elixir's here. Also, I heard from the other cadets that came in after that there was a bunch of checks done." Cloud said as he fell on the couch beside Sephiroth and the general took the chance to pull the cadet onto his lap protectively. The white crow didn't even have the energy to even try to be embarrassed.

"Elixirs are expensive. It's cheaper to just feed everyone potions and ethers, then give them a day of rest instead of wasting expensive resources over tests." Sephiroth explained to him. "Also, Genesis and I went around setting fire to all the test monsters. We found another five that were magic resistant. One other Behemoth, a pair of Nibel Wolves and another two Bandersnatch. If they had been fought normally, then it would have been fine, but I guess you were unlucky."

"Granted there were only two Behemoths in the whole test." Zack pointed out. "Whoever switched them out might have known that we were going to send a Behemoth after Cloud."

"I don't get anyone would want to even bother trying to sabotage Cloud's test." Reno pointed out. "He's just a cadet."

"I thought that we were trying not to give Cloud special attention." Zack added on.

"You'd have to be both blind and deaf to not notice the amount of attention Cloud gets." Rufus pointed out. "If being a part of the mentor programme didn't make him stand out enough then the amount of attention he gets from all of you would be more than enough."

"Hojo's main interest was if there was something special about Cloud due to the intense interest in him. After today's display though… He seems to have lost all interest." Tseng noticed that all the Generals seemed to stop holding their breaths at his last comment. "An affinity for magic is apparently nothing special. He seems to think that you're only trying to get him into SOLDIER for Genesis' sake now."

"He's not wrong there." Genesis pointed out. "If I have Cloud I can at least get rid of one incompetent member in my platoon."

"And dump him on me I heard." Sephiroth added.

"He's good with a sword. Bad with magic. If anything he'd be an asset to you. Why he got put with me is beyond me."

"He's probably one of the original members of the magic division." Rufus said thoughtfully. "I remember Lazard mentioning that we might need to restructure because the useless magic users we originally put in your platoon for numbers are still there and some of the more competent physical fighters are still in Sephiroth's platoon. Angeal has the better deal where all his men are competent, but lacking in numbers, not like that really matters though."

"Perhaps we can discuss this later with Lazard after the new SOLDIERs come in." Sephiroth suggested as he pressed a hand against his forehead. He could just imagine how much paperwork would be involved and the hundreds of SOLDIERs that they would need to go through to make sure that they would go to a platoon that matched their abilities.

"So, what happened to all the enhanced monsters?" Cloud questioned.

"Switched them up with the ones in the lab that hadn't been modified yet." Sephiroth replied.

"I still don't get how you manage to mistaken enhanced ones with non-enhanced ones. Doesn't someone keep track of them?" Cloud questioned.

"Test subjects usually have a tattoo or some kind of marking on them, but stuff like this can happen when the interns can't be bothered checking because the chances of being attacked are high. Either way, who's going to find out when no one bothers to check after the monster's dead?" Rufus stated simply.

"I would have thought that as a scientist Hojo would be a lot more protective of his projects." Reno said thoughtfully.

"Hojo isn't really much of a conventional scientist." Angeal explained. "If something doesn't work out, he'll just throw it away or have it killed. On the other hand, if it does work out, he's more likely to keep a closer eye on it. Enhancing monsters isn't really an experiment for him. It's more of a hobby. Sometimes it comes up with interesting results, but for most part they're just used to test the strength of other test subjects or SOLDIERs that have been too enhanced to be challenged by a normal monster."

Cloud made a disgusted face. "SOLDIER is starting to look less appealing as you speak." He said, not noticing the look that both Sephiroth and Genesis sent to Angeal that clearly said 'stop talking now.'

"If you don't want to join SOLDIER we do have the offer for you to become a full time Turk." Tseng pointed out.

Sephiroth tightened his hold on Cloud in response. "Cloud will not become a Turk. I thought we already discussed this." The General said possessively.

"The offer is merely there. I never said that he had to take it." Tseng said. "After all, Turks aren't enhanced and we don't have to go down to the lab for tests."

"I don't think his moral compass is broken enough for him to be able to kill someone he doesn't know." Rufus said. "I can't even imagine him being able to kill someone without knowing why he had to. Even then he'd probably think that there's no good reason to kill anyone."

"I never said that we'd send him on an assassination mission." Tseng pointed out.

"You just want a competent magic user don't you?" Genesis questioned and Tseng just shrugged his shoulders.

"They're rare and it would be nice not to have to go head hunting. Especially if there's already one right in front of me."

"Why don't you ask Aerith?" Zack questioned. "I mean if it's not dangerous and it's not killing anyone, I'm sure she'd benefit from the extra cash."

"Aerith is a special situation. It's in her best interest for her to stay outside of the Shinra complex. Besides, there are some unsavoury people on these grounds that I'm sure she would appreciate never seeing again. Not to mention her mother doesn't like the military."

"Oh, you mean Hojo?" Zack questioned and Tseng had to fight the urge to hit the wolf.

"Exactly like Hojo. Now shut your mouth before Tseng shoots you for spelling it out for everyone." Genesis said.

"What's up with the slums flower girl? Is she a Siren or something?" Reno questioned. "Because if she is, that would explain why she attracts men like a moth to a flame."

"I told you before. Aerith's information is a need to know basis." Tseng said in an almost scolding tone. "And if she was a Siren she would have to be living near a large body of water and I doubt that Honeybee would let her use their pool without some kind of price tag on it."

"She does reel in men for them for free. I don't see why they wouldn't let her." Reno pointed out.

"Because if Don Corneo were to find out, then he would do anything in his power to make her into one of his girls and I'm sure the ones working in Honeybee know better than to pull someone so innocent into their own world." Tseng replied easily.

"And with that said, I think it's time for us to leave." Rufus cut in. Reno looked like he was about to protest, but stopped when the spider gestured over to the cadet who was snuggled up in Sephiroth's arms. He was sound asleep.

"Probably all the excitement got to him." Angeal said as Sephiroth got off the couch, lifting Cloud up into his arms.

"I'll put this one to bed then." He said, making his way to Cloud's room.

When he got to the white crow's room he pulled back the sheets and gently laid the smaller crow on his bed. Just as he was about to pull away he realised that Cloud had a firm grip on his coat. Grinning, he climbed into the bed, wrapping his arms around Cloud before releasing his wings and draping them over Cloud like a blanket before pulling the blankets over the both of them.

Cloud was going to get a nice shock when he woke up.
