AN: Wow…first Glee fic. Just some cute Finchel fluff.
"Remind me again why we're doing this?" He deadpans as she stalls the engine once again. His truck may be beat to hell and just as old as him, but it's still his baby and right now Rachel is about to be arrested for child endangerment.
"I need to learn how to drive a stick." Her voice is all determination, and he winces because he knows that she is probably going to lose her fight with his truck and its standard transmission. He can't exactly remember how he's ended up here, knees by his head because of the stupid bench seat, and he can't quite recall it being this hard when he'd learned to drive standard in this very truck.
But Rachel clearly has no idea what the hell she is doing. This is the fifth time she's managed to stall the engine, and they've moved farther drifting backwards in the parking lot than Rachel has made moving forward.
He sighs and resigns himself to the slow death of his baby as he tries to talk her through it again. "Put the clutch in," he tries his hardest not to find it adorable that even with the bench so far up she still has to sit on the very edge and use her tiptoes to reach the clutch, " and the brake at the same time. Good now we're not going anywhere. I want you to take the shifter and wiggle it out of first gear again so we can start fresh." She wiggles the shifter out and then deftly maneuvers it back into first gear—that, at least, she can do.
"Good, now slowly let the clutch out until you feel it catch and then press the gas just a little." She is so close this time and he can hear when the engine starts to catch, and then—yes! They are moving forward.
And sure his knees are by his ears, and his girlfriend looks way too cute sitting on the edge of her seat driving his truck, and he probably has to worry about her grinding gears in about ten seconds, but right now he is just happy that they are moving.
AN: I am Lea Michelle's height and my boyfriend is Cory Montieth's height…it makes sharing bench seats really hard to do… Please review I need to know what could make my Glee fic better. :) Also thanks to April over on Tumblr she's my first follower so this is for her.
