A letter from beyond...

Gilbert saw the blood that stained the floor, before he found it's owner. The body was definitely female, and seeing that chocolate brown hair he automatically knew.

Elizaveta Hedervary.

He couldn't bring himself to understand how she had gotten into this mess. He eyes poured all over the small room of her household. It was her private study,a place she would come to escape from the things that would haunt her. She had brought Gilbert there once, after they have discovered her true gender and he had forgiven himself for groping her "weak spots".

"This is a secret room,no one else has seen it except for me and now you" She had said quietly, staring at him. Infinite love hidden in those emerald green eyes, that put any jewel he had ever seen to shame.

She had given him the gift of love. Understood his brash behavior, carried his drunken-ass home, let him cry into her lap when everything he had was ripped away from him.

She had loved him, when he was a rogue man. Terrorizing everywhere he went and she had been the eye of his stormy heart.

He watched her raise into a strong nation,as his was crumbled.

"Gilbert, please don't leave me again" She cried, holding the sides of the dress that Austrian had picked for her instead of the simple outfit Gilbert loved.

He keep his back turned from her,she swore that she loved him and she had married another man.

Keep his back turned for fear that she would see his tears, that she would know how deeply that it had cut him.

Now,he was standing above a dead body. The body of the only person that he had loved. Sure,he loved his brother, but this love had been the different kind. It transcended family. For once water ran deeper than blood.

Gilbert stepped around to the desk, ran his fingers along the ceder wood allowing his fingertips to aline with every groove and bump.

He had given himself up on this very desk.

Only the moonlight illuminating the room,he could still feel the goosebumps that danced across Elizveta's ivory skin. His hear her faint moans travel down his backside. Still see the white light that emanated as they became one single deity.

Gilbert's thought were broken as he brushed across the surface of a piece of paper. Fine print scrawled on it.

"Gilbert,I warned you not to leave. This world is an unpredictable. It steals life and love in a single glance and doesn't regret it. I never knew the love of a man without you,I never was truly alive without you,I was just a shell of myself. Performing like a marionette, allowing my strings to be pulled. From when we were young,to the moment I felt my final breath being stolen from me. I loved you."

The letter stopped then,Gilbert refolded the letter and placed back on the desk. Walked over Elizaveta's truly dead body.

The realization sinking in.

He had left in search of two things;comfort and power. While he had found both. He lost everything in return.
