Could be seen as a prequel to Me Against the World if you wish.
Rain Sucked.
There was no other way to describe it. It just plain sucked. Oh sure, rain brought food to plants, kept the weather cool and brought fresh water. On those points, rain was the most wonderful thing in the world.
Just not when you're caught in a storm without an umbrella.
That was where Wally currently was: outside, in the downpour, soaking wet and cold. Really this day couldn't get any worse. High school is tough already. It's just an endless cycle; wake up, go to school, get pushed around by bullies, fall asleep in math class because his parents' fighting keep him up all night long in both fear and worry, get detention for falling asleep, dodge more bullies, fail at dodging bullies and get stuffed into a locker, and finally it's off to the last class of the day, P.E. where everyone used the dodgeball excuse to pound him with bouncy red balls.
So when Wally finally got out of detention, the school is deserted. Like usual, his parents seemed to have forgotten to come and pick him up. Wally pulled out his wallet and checked for money. Zilch. That meant no bus ride home either.
Wally took a deep breath and resolved himself to walking home. He didn't even get out of the school parking before he heard a rumble. Then without warning, torrents of water began to fall from the sky. Within seconds, Wally was soaked to the core and he just wanted to scream at the world.
"ARGHH!"
Wally closed his eyes. His chemistry textbook he's carrying is soaked and his teacher is going to kill him tomorrow. He's isn't sure if his backpack is keeping the rest of his textbooks dry. With how heavy the rain was, he doubted it is. The wind had started to pick up again. 'Oh great,' he thought bitterly. He shivered, pulling his soaking wet jacket closer attempting to keep warm. It wasn't helping.
His shoulder shagged. "Now what do I do?" Wally grumbled. "I suppose I could back to the school and wait for the rain to stop." If he was lucky, the nice old lady in the main office was still here and would take pity on him and give him a slice of her apple pie that she's always bringing to school.
"This day can't get any worse," Wally moaned to himself. He swear that the world is out to get him.
Suddenly the rain stopped.
No. Correction, it was still raining. It was just no longer raining on him.
Wally looked up to see a blue umbrella now covering him. He turned around to see a younger teenager with the bluest eyes Wally has seen, standing behind him under another blue umbrella.
"Here," the teen said, shoving the handle of the umbrella into Wally's hand. "I brought an extra one today. You don't have to return it to me."
Before Wally could even thank him, the teen took off running towards a black car (wait… is that a limo?) that's obviously waiting for him in front of the school. Wally is left holding an umbrella, standing in the rain, stunned.
There might be something good about these rainy days after all.
The End. Please Review. :3
