I'm very sorry for not finishing this story. My problem is that I get these great ideas in my head for long stories, but I don't really commit to taking the time to write them. Life keeps moving forward. I meant for this to be a segway between Last Airbender and Legend of Korra. Now that Legend of Korra has finished, there's so much in this story that is outdated. I finished college now, and need to start thinking about my life and career, and would rather spend my free time doing other things besides writing fanfics.

Here I will summarize what happens in the rest of the story, giving some long overdue closure.

Hidan and Kakuzu eventually make it to the Jashinist temple. They meet the traveling nomads from Last Airbender who guide them for a while. They annoy the crap out of Hidan, and he eventually kills them. At the temple, Hidan's Jashinist friends share information.

Nagato and Zetsu make it to the Northern Water Tribe. They hide out on an ice berg and send in the Six Paths of Pein, who act as scholars looking to research The Avatar. They sneak into the Spirit Oasis where Nagato is able to enter the Spirit World. He travels through the spirit world, meeting the souls of Konan and Yahiko along the way. He makes it to Wan Shi Tong's library, has a philosophical debate with him about human nature, and eventually earns the privilege to peruse the library. The Water tribe villagers find out that Pein has trespassed on the Sacred Oasis, and attempt to throw him out, but after Nagato retrieves the information he needs, the six paths fight their way out and devastate the colony.

Madara / Obito spends more time with Pathik, until the guru receives a vision from the spirits revealing who the Akatsuki are, and refuses to help Madara any further. But the latter uses his sharingan to invade Pathik's mind and steal any information he can and render the guru in a comatose state.

Deidara and Sasori arrive at Ba Sing Se and see the play of the Ember Island Players. They also stop at the Jasmine Dragon and meet Iroh. Iroh finds the men suspicious and menacing, but nothing important happens. Deidara is so disgusted by the poor performance, he blows up the theatre, to Sasori's annoyance. He also kills the Cabbage Merchant because he hates vegetables.

Itachi and Kisame make it to the Fire Nation capital and break into Zuko's palace. A big battle takes place. Eventually Itachi uses Mangekyou Sharingan to invade Zuko's mind, take any info he can, and kill Zuko. The battle takes a large toll on Itachi, but Kisame gets them out of the capitol. Of course Mei is devastated.

With all their information, the Akatsuki hold a hologram meeting and decide they are ready to take on the Aang. They formulate a plan to use Katara as bait. They decide Kakuzu would fight Aang, considering he can also manipulate the elements. Kakuzu, Hidan, Itachi, and Kisame decide to meet up and invade the Southern Tribe together. Kakuzu and Hidan meet June and Nyla, and employ them to help find Kisame and Itachi. June and Hidan hit it off well and develop a romance of sorts.

The five meet up and travel south on a giant shark Kisame summons, and begin their assault. They slaughter many. Katara puts up a good fight, nearly overwhelming Kisame even. She surrenders though so the Akatsuki will spare the villagers.

The Akatsuki take Katara to the Eastern Air Temple and wait for Aang. Aang eventually arrives with Sokka, Toph, Suki, and a few other allies, and a big fight breaks out. Katara tries to use her blood bending on Hidan, which nearly kills him, so Kakuzu saves him by killing Katara. After witnessing his wife's death, Aang becomes enraged and enters the Avatar State, and kills Kakuzu.

The Akatsuki fall back and discuss a new plan. They decide Deidara could try, since he has a talent for wearing down his opponents. Deidara and Sasori then track Aang to Ba Sing Se, and another big battle breaks out. There's a big sky battle between Aang and Appa and Deidara, with Sasori providing ground support. Eventually Appa is killed, and Aang enters the Avatar State once more, overpowering Deidara. Deidara and Sasori barely escape with their lives.

Aang decides to gather all his allies together once more for one final battle with the Akatsuki, which ends up taking place in the same coastal area where Aang defeated Ozai. The Fire Nation, Earth Kingdom, and Water Tribes send their troops.

The Akatsuki agree Pein will fight Aang next. The battle comes finally. Sasori, Itachi, and Kisame are killed. Hidan kills Sokka. Zestu uses a summoning jutsu to summon carnivorous plants. Madara and Itachi both use their Susanoo forms. June also joins in and formally becomes an Akatsuki member. Eventually, Pein defeats Aang, even in the Avatar State. With the Avatar world devastated and Aang captured, the Akatsuki return to the Shinobi world.

I had a few more OVAs or Omakes in mind. One involved Deidara and Hidan going on a double date with June and Azula, with Azula being impressed by flying on Hidan's birds, and by his explosions. In another, Deidara and Hidan would have to feed Madara's pet falcon. Another involved the Akatsuki exploring the Foggy Swamp and seeing apparitions of their loved ones.

I also had a sequel in mind about the return to the shinobi world, and Madara setting his master plan into motion, and fighting off the nations and Kabuto, and Sasuke joining the Akatsuki. The focus was mainly going to be on Hidan and June and their romance and their differences.
