Reason #14.
I knew that the tapes were labeled one through thirteen but I couldn't help but wonder what if she taped something on that backside?
Was is something she didn't want anyone to know. After listening to the end of the thirteenth tape I flipped it and pressed play.
I listened for a few seconds figuring it wasn't anything. Then I heard it like the quietest noise ever. Her breath slowly.
"Congrats maybe one of you wasn't stupid enough to flip the tape over. Curiosity kills the cat doesn't it?" Hannah's voice sarcastically said. I could picture the smirk on her face. I ran a hand over my face.
Why had she left this side unlabeled?
Was it for certain people.
Was she going to rip apart everyone but me?
She wanted to get to know me.
Listening I heard her take another breath.
"You know. I left the secondary tapes with Tony. He was the only person I could trust. He had old cassette player. He had control."Hannah's voice murmured. "I think out of all the people that might be shocked or might be upset with me."
A pause
"I bet some of you are scared that the tapes will get out. Don't worry. If you've made it this far they won't. At least not for a very long time." Hannah's voice sighed. I could hear the smile strech across her face as she talked about how she knew.
"I wanted to tell you this. Those notes on my parents store. It's cause they took me to the hospital. You know the mental ones. They are scared that I'm permanently scared for life." Hannah said softly. "How do I know that? Cause this was the very last tape I made. I had asked Tony that if I lived through this part of my life to show up with a tape recorder and the last tape." Hannah said a little less happily.
"I decided that if I lived you'd need to know it. So. If you are listening to this. You now know I'm still alive. Barely but I'm still breathing at least right? My parents are scared to leave me. That's probably why their store is empty and there are at least six or seven dozen notes from the post office on the door." Hannah said. He voice didn't seem happy that she was still alive and she sounded bored talking about her parents.
I stared out the window of my room. It was late, well actually it was early. Nearly Four in the morning and I had just finished the tapes...
Or so I thought.
"I have some nerve telling you this don't I? Well maybe not everyone figured it out. I never labeled the back side as number fourteen." Hannah mumbled against the mic. The a static set in for a few second before another voice this time one that sounds distant. "Miss. Baker... Sweetie you need to wake up." The voice said gently as it came closer.
I could hear her grumble then the sounds of sheets being ruffled and a loud shriek from Hannah startled me. I jumped back. I glanced around my room hoping my mother would come in cause I was sure I let out a yelp.
Finally I heard her voice again.
"I'm alive."
Actually I have no idea why I listed this at the 14th reason... But I couldn't help but write this... It might not be a reason...but I like it at all the other 'tapes' were reasons.
Also side note. This would happen to be my first fic for this book. I am absolutely in love with it and I am hoping to write more fics for this book soon.
