Just a little something I came up with. Considering Victoire was supposed to be born in May of 2000, I'd say this takes place in early to mid June.
Ginny sat in the chair, holding a bundle of blankets close to her chest. Harry sat on the arm rest; one arm around her. They both gazed down at the tiny baby, smiling. Every so often one of them would coo and tickle her, enjoying the time with their first niece.
Victoire was barely a month old, but a tuft of thick, fair blonde hair was visible at the top of her head. Her piercing blue eyes were shut, hidden from the world – for the time being, at least.
Fleur's Grandmère Delacour had recently passed away, so she and Bill had gone to France to attend the funeral. They'd decided baby Victoire was too young to be at such a somber event and had opted to leave her with her aunt and uncle – Charlie was still in Romania, George was simply out of the question, and Ron was busy doing Merlin only knows what; in the end it had been a toss-up between Percy and Ginny. Finally, Percy had been ruled out – courtesy of Bill, "no need to scar her at such a young age," he'd said, "she'll have the rest of her life to be traumatised by Perce.
Harry and Ginny were thrilled to be watching Victoire; they wanted practice for when they'd have their own kids someday. Not long after Ginny had started playing for the Holyhead Harpies, Harry had proposed and the wedding was set for the end of summer, in late August.
"Just look at her, Harry. Isn't she gorgeous?" Harry leaned his head on Ginny's and let out a contented sigh.
"She absolutely is, love."
"Oh, Harry – I want one."
He let out a chuckle, "all in good time, Gin. Unless you want to steal your brother's baby?"
She elbowed him in the knee before returning to fawning silently over the beautiful baby girl in her arms.
That was the moment that Ginny Weasley – soon to be Potter – decided she wanted to be a mother.
There it is. Hope you enjoyed it.
