"Never frown, even when you're sad, because you never know when someone is falling in love with your smile."
Ever since my mom died, I always smiled. That's what she always told me. They were her last words to me.
"Takeshi-kun, never stop smiling."
So I never did.
I became famous for my loud laugh and toothy grin. They became trademarks of mine.
Yes, I was patronized for it. Gokudera always mocked me for smiling.
"Oi, yakuubaka, why are you laughing? This is SERIOUS!"
I laughed anyways.
And I discovered just how grateful I was that I smiled. I was with Gokudera about a week after he had accepted my confession when I asked him.
"Hey Gokudera, why do you like me?"
He had had a bit too much to drink, which I was grateful for. Alcohol made Gokudera honest, and that's what I was searching for.
"Your smile."
The trait in question appeared on my face just as he finished speaking. "But, you've always giving me hell for it."
"Yeah, and maybe I was jealous okay? I mean, you could always find a reason to smile, no matter what happened. I needed that, and I could never find it."
I let out a soft laugh and kissed his cheek gently. "I love you just the way you are. Don't you ever change."
