Song used: Grenade by Bruno Mars

Disclaimer: I do not own Glee, it's characters, or the song 'Grenade'.

Rachel was sitting in the choir room. The rest of the club was slowly filing in and filling the seats around her. When Jesse walked in, she didn't say a word, just kept her gaze straight ahead, focusing on the piano. Jesse sighed and walked over to an empty seat in the row behind Rachel. As soon as Mr. Schuester walked into the room, Rachel shot up out of her seat.

"Mr. Schue, I'm ready to perform my selection for this week's assignment."

Mr. Schuester looked up from the sheet music in his hands and blinked at Rachel. "Well, okay. Let's get started then." He made his way over to the piano, set his stuff down and went to take a seat with the rest of the club.

This week's assignment had been 'Emotion'. They were supposed to convey an emotion through the song. Seemed simple, really, to Rachel. She took the few steps it took to get to the center of the room, before nodding to Brad at the piano.

The music started softly, and Rachel started up on her cue.

Easy come, easy go
That's just how you live, oh
Take, take, take it all,
But you never give

Rachel turned slowly to face the club and looked directly at Jesse. He looked rather sad, but understood why she was singing this song about him. He broke her heart. He was cruel, and he knew it would take a lot to try and fix it.

Should of known you was trouble from the first kiss,

Had your eyes wide open
Why were they open?
Gave you all I had
And you tossed it in the trash
You tossed it in the trash, you did

Rachel took the opportunity to break her gaze away from Jesse and look at the rest of the club. Finn looked pained. Quinn looked unamused. Santana looked bored, and Brittany looked confused. Everyone else just wore a look of "Told you so."

To give me all your love is all I ever asked,
Cause what you don't understand is
I'd catch a grenade for ya
Throw my hand on a blade for
I'd jump in front of a train for ya
You know I'd do anything for ya
Oh, oh

Okay, so maybe Rachel was being a bit over dramatic, but the assignment was to convey an emotion. This was the emotion she was feeling. She was heart broken, and maybe some what in love with Jesse St. James, and he simply seemed to not care. At least, according to Rachel.

I would go through all this pain,
Take a bullet straight through my brain,
Yes, I would die for ya baby;
But you won't do the same
No, no, no, no

Jesse started to frown slightly, an unusual facial expression for him. Rachel was fighting back her tears. She chose to end the song a bit early. Not planned, of course. If she continued, she knew she'd break down, and that was not something she wanted to do in front of the whole club and Mr. Schuester. She quietly thanked them for listening and made her way from the room quickly. Finally letting the tears fall as she made her way to the bathroom.
