Warning: Slash, PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder), language
Pairing: Britt/Kato
Summary: Someone should've told you that getting shot at on a nightly basis would eventually lead to some serious mental health issues.

You're not sure how much you've had to drink.

All you know is this: while the whole superhero thing has been a real blast and a half, someone should've fucking warned you. Someone should've warned you that getting shot at on a nightly basis would eventually lead to some serious mental health issues.

You're not sure how much you've had, just that you're lying on your bed and Kato is standing in the doorway. You wonder if he's as drunk as you. And, if he's not, then he needs to be.

The nightmares started three months or so after you and Kato first slammed Black Beauty into that meth lab. And they've got progressively worse and worse.

You'll wake up screaming and sweating and crying.

So you decided it would be a good time to have a drink.

You're not sure how much you've had, just that you're lying on your bed, head in Kato's lap and he's singing and running his fingers through your hair. He has a soft, sweet voice that promises a peaceful night.

You were drunk for three days when Kato finally stepped in. He looked at you with something akin to pity in his eyes before he quietly took you by the hand.

You're still not sure what happened, just that – without even saying a word – Kato was able to fix you. And you didn't even have the sense to realize you were broken.

You're not sure how much you had last night, just that you've finally had a night without images of death and destruction. You also notice that there is a comforting warmth snuggled quite nicely behind you.

Slowly, you raise yourself up on an elbow and look behind you, and there's Kato, smiling softly up at you.

THE END.
