The sky was doused in colors of pinks, oranges, and purples as the sun set. Dean laid back in the lounge chair, listening to the seagulls crying around him. He couldn't deny that he was happy. For once everything was just fine. There was nothing trying to kill him, Sam had convinced him that one day wouldn't cause the Apocalypse to come any faster, Cas was laying in the chair next to him. The angel was actually wearing swim trunks, but Dean couldn't convince him to take off that damned trench coat, even at the beach.

But that was aside the point. Dean was enjoying himself for once in a long time. He reached into the cooler and pulled out a beer, twisting off the cap and placing the bottle at his lips. He took a long drink before placing the bottle in the sand.

His eyes flickered up and he noticed Cas staring at him. He couldn't help smiling at the tousle-haired face. Cas returned the smile, but in his own Cas-like way.

"This is nice, Dean." Cas said.

Dean's smile grew a little bit bigger and he leaned over to kiss Castiel. The angel, though still a little new at the whole kissing thing, kissed back happily.

"Get in the water with me?" Dean asked.

Castiel's expression turned wary. "Dean, I really do-"

But Dean was already pulling him up and taking him toward the water. They tried to totter, Dean's hand gripped around Castiel's wrist, through the foamy waves, but a rather rough wave rolled up suddenly, knocking both men down into the water.

Dean's head was submerged for only a second before he resurfaced. He looked around for Cas and saw the angel sitting in the water next to him looking stoic. Water dripped from the angel's hair and the trench coat was sopping wet. Dean couldn't help but let out a yelp of laughter. Castiel narrowed his eyes at the laugh, but that only made Dean go into a minor fit of laughs. Cas looked like a cross between confused and irritated; he had no idea what could possibly be so funny in this situation. However when Dean pulled him into a kiss he stopped caring.

Dean pulled away, much to Castiel's dismay, with a small smile and stood. He walked to the shore, leaving Castiel in the water. The angel was about to follow, when a school of fish swam by, moving and darting about in synch. Cas sat in the water and watched them, feeling serene as the waves washed around him.

On shore, Dean was walking along the shore. He looked back at Cas and as he was turning back around he spotted a piece if driftwood on the ground. Smiling, he picked it up as an idea formed in his head.

"Hey, Cas, come here!"

Cas looked up from the fish and saw Dean motioning for him. He stood from the water and made his way over to the Winchester. "Yes?"

"Cas, I've never been happier than I am today." Dean said, pulling his lover into an embrace. "I want it to be like this all the time someday."

"So do I, Dean." Castiel said, head laying next to Dean's neck.

Dean backed away from the embrace and pointed at the ground. Castiel's eyes followed where Dean was pointing to see words etched into the sand.

"Marry me, Cas?"
