My second story. Enjoy!

Inspired by the song "Winterland" by Unheilig.

Last cold winternight

Six months have passed since Grunthilda and her 2 evil sisters were defeated and normal life has returned to spiral mountain.

Winter has come and the area was covered in snow. Somewhere in the otherwise white landscape, a small blue house with yellow roof created a little point of color.

Kazooie, the red crested breegull, looked out of the window. It was night and dark outside. She shivered "Cold... I hate the cold..." and turned around. A small fireplace lightened the eoom, but since Grunthilda destroyed the house, it never got completely repaired and so, there were still small gaps and holes in the roof and and walls.

She looked over to Banjo, who was sleeping in his bed. Since he was a bear, he used to sleep alot during this time of the year. He barely ever got up and when he did, only if he really had to.

He used 2 blankets to keep himself warm and was snoring loudly.

It was also the time of the year, when Kazooie got really bored.

She sat down near the fireplace and tried to warm herself.

After what happened at Wichyworld*, their friendship became a little closer, but not much changed. She pulled her legs up to her chest and wrapped her wings around them.

She stared into the flame and thought about her past adventures with her best friend Banjo.

They shared so much time with each other and she felt warm inside, when they were together. But did he feel the same?

As she was lost in her thoughts, she slowly drifted off to sleep.

When Kazooie awoke, she felt warm. The fire was burned down and barely emitted any heat anymore at all. She moved and noticed, that she was covered in a blanket that kept her warm.

She raised her head and looked at Banjos bed. There he was, sleeping and snoring.

When the breegull stood up, she noticed that the blanket was one of Banjos.

"Did he do that...? There is no one else..." she thought and noticed an empty glas standing in the kitchen.

"I see, he got thirsty and got up. But why did he gave away one of his precious blankets?" As soon as she finished that thought, a cold breezed came through a crack in the door and made her shiver and remember the cold in the house again.

"Sometimes, he is such a sweetheart..." she whispered to herself and blushed a little.

Kazooie decided to go to sleep, grabbed the blanket and walked towards the coathanger with the blue backpack on it. She stopped and looked at Banjo again. She struggled with herself a little, but then walked towards his bed. She threw the blanket over his other one and carefully slided into bed next to him.

It felt so warm and comfortable. Suddenly, he moved in his sleep and wrapped his arms around her body. Her heart was pounding hard as she slowly turned her head at him. He had his eyes closed, but was not snoring anymore.

Kazooie smiled and gently rubbed her beak on Banjos big cheek, whispering "I don't want to be without you..."

"I will never leave you" he whispered back suddenly.

Suprised, she opened her eyes wide and looked at him. He started snoring again, obviously asleep now.

She rested her head on the pillow and closed her eyes.

This was the last time that Kazooie ever felt cold again in a winternight.
