Summary: The wall fell and Dean's left trying to help Sam through while his brother stumbles through delusions and hallucinations.

Author's Notes: Just a clip of life for post-season 6 Sam and Dean before the premiere.

Day 36

Sam's eyes are wild and tear filled. He's in Dean's space in a way that Dean thinks should be intimidating; his brother caught in a burst of confused rage and frustration that echoed of his demon blood fueled days. But the manic intensity and disorganization of it, the way Sam's shaking takes that fear away.

"You're wrong! You're wrong! It's here! It's real! I know it is! You're wrong!"

Dean's immediate response to anger is anger. It's how they've both pretty much always been. Just easier than dealing with the worry or pain their lives are consumed with. And he's just so tired and fried from dealing with Sam since the wall fell… He shoves Sam back by the shoulder, his back thumping against the wall.

"There's nothing here, Sam! It's not-" Dean grits his teeth and breathes harshly, forcing himself arms length away from Sam. Breathing shakily for a few moments, Dean manages to mostly compose himself, dropping his voice back down. "…Why would I lie to you Sam?"

Sam still has his angry gaze fixed on Dean, but his expression begins to waver and all at once, Sam's done his turn around again. His face falls along with his tears and Dean braces himself for the apologies and confusion.

"I didn't…Dean, I'm…" Sam shakes his head, lowering his eyes and bringing his hands up to his head. "I don't know…"

Sam's legs give out and Dean's already there, arms wrapped around Sam and sinking to the ground with him, wrapping his baby brother in his arms, feeling the helplessness consume him. He tries to soothe Sam, but he's never sure what of it, if anything, gets through. He carries on anyway. It's something they both need and Sam's shivering and shaking apart in front of him.

"Sorry, sorry, sorry, Dean….Sorrysorrysorrysorrysor-"

Dean clamps his hand over Sam's mouth, unable to take the litany of apologies he'd heard a million times before. He lets his tears fall as he lays his head on top of Sam's hair, still feeling Sam's lips mouthing silent pleas for redemption against his palm.
