SLEEPING BEAUTY
It was late when Jenny finally left the bathroom and made her way to the bed, where her husband was already lay down next to him, propping her head on her hand, a small smile gracing her lips. For as long as she may have known him, Jenny could never get over how peaceful Leroy Jethro Gibbs looked when he slept. The wrinkles on his forehead didn't appear as deep, the constant frown on his face as severe as when he was awake. His face seemed almost gentle.
Jenny's smile widened as she imagined her lover's reaction to that particular adjective.
"Watcha smiling at?" – Gibbs's quiet voice cut through her amused thoughts.
"I'm not. I'm looking," – Jenny replied, even though the curve of her lips gave her away.
"Watcha looking at?" – Gibbs asked, eyes still closed.
"You. I like watching you sleep."
"Why?"
"You look calm. At peace," – Jenny whispered, leaning down to kiss his cheek.
Gibbs's eyes opened and he looked at his wife for several moments before his hand went to her waist and pulled her close next to him, kissing the top of her head as she laid it on his chest.
"I am. Calm and at peace," – he said contently, closing his eyes again.
The silence stretched for a while, the only sound in the room the couple's breathing, until Gibbs broke it again.
"Stop looking at me. I'm not sleeping yet."
Jenny couldn't stop the laugh that escaped her as she moved to cover his lips with hers.
