"You sure you have everything?" he asked while closing his phone and shoving it in his pants' back pocket.
She looked up from her watch and nodded. "I think so." She looked around then turned back to him. "So just proceed as planned, right? Try to get their support yet at the same time don't let them upstage us, correct?"
Lelouch's lips twisted into a rare small smile. "You did your homework."
She chuckled and was about to flick her long hair over the shoulder when suddenly remembered that her hair was no longer its natural length. One hand reached up to touch her short black wig, she murmured, "I hate this."
"You'll be fine. Don't take it off until you're sure no one's watching though," he reminded grimly.
"Got it." Just as she was about move forward, Lelouch quickly reached out and jerked her back by the elbow; she glanced back with one raised eyebrow.
"Hm, you'll call right?" he asked timidly.
C.C. studied the boy in front of her with subtle puzzlement with eyes narrowed slightly. Then, she nodded hesitantly, "Sure, I mean I'll have to tell you whether I got there or not."
"Ahh, that's right." Was it her or did he flush a bit?
Shaking her elbow free of his grasp, she proceeded forward again. Lelouch was debating if it were a good idea to follow her for a bit, to make sure things went as planned, but he couldn't risk it. Right now, he's Lelouch Lamperouge, a normal, average high school student. How would he explain himself if one of his classmates were to see him trailing a young woman at the airport? If he weren't careful, his Zero identity could have been exposed. Nope, couldn't risk that.
Neither could C.C. She had to walk rigidly and could move only her eyes as far back as they would go to steal a glance at the boy behind her without fully turning around. When she noticed he was looking, she nodded slightly to indicate they would part ways for now, but would reunite later. A 'goodbye' was too cheesy in her opinion.
Suddenly, he pulled out the phone and put it onto his ear. Must have been a Black Knight member, C.C. thought as she never stopped walking. Then, to her surprise he yelled, "Call me!"
C.C. almost stopped in her tracks.
Her bright golden eyes widened as she thought about what just happened. He could have been talking to either the Black Knights or his friends for all she knew. However, at that instant when she decided to glance back ever so slightly, she had caught his deep violet eyes staring straight at her. The phone on his ear but there's no sign that there's anyone on the other end. And his face, especially his face. It's so serious and sort of compassionate when he shouted out those two words. Also, the way he was looking at her. No man had looked at her that way before ever since she got the Code.
"Don't forget," he was saying. The phone was loosely held in his hand now as his eyes pierced her back intensely.
This time, she fully turned her head around and smiled slightly at him. "I won't," she mouthed the words.
When C.C. passed through the gate and disappeared into the interiors, Lelouch realized how much he hated the headquarters and his room now.
A/N: Definitely a spur-of-the-moment thing. This is what I thought of in a few minutes and couldn't help putting it down. And since it's not really a thoroughly planned-out story, it's very, very, incredibly short - probably the shortest I've ever done. I don't know if I should make another chapter for this or end it like this, so we'll have to see. If by Friday and nothing's updated by me, then this little story is officially over.
Thank you for reading and of course reviews are appreciated!
