Castle excuses himself from the table to walk Alexis to her room, left alone at the table Martha pours the detective another glass of wine, before she pins the cop with an astute look and says, "After the explosion – he really was the only one there in your eyes wasn't he?"

Startled Kate tries to school her features so as not to betray the truth, but the knowledge is there in the older woman's eyes, that all knowing sixth sense all mothers seem to possess.

"Well?" The actress asks again.

" Yeah." Kate confesses quietly. "He was the only thought in my head."

Martha smiles. "I'm sorry I interrupted then." She says, raising her glass to toast with Beckett's.

Kate returns the smile – and the toast. "Here's to better luck next time."
