Chapter 29: Side Effects

When the sky is nice and purple with specks of orange, Damon bit into his wrist. He bites into mine seconds later and soon all to soon I place my wrist on his lips while he presses his wrist to my lips. Its almost instantly the bond weaves its way through my body. We're bonded again and this time, it's gonna last forever.

Once the bonding ceremony was complete grandfather had insisted that Katherine and I follow him to his magic room.

"Um, wait." Damon asks his hand tugging me back to him. "Since Bonnie and I are bonded again," He says looking to grandfather, while holding me. "Won't you need me for whatever witchy thing your up to?" He asked keeping me close.

Grandfather takes his glasses off. "Of course, but lucky for us you are always with her." He pats his heart suggestively and I hear Katherine chuckle.

Annoyed Damon continues to hold on me. "I'm not comfortable letting her out of my sight for too long, so whatever you guys are going to do," He leaves his words hanging and turns me to face him.

I cut him a look in which he quickly ignores. "Damon." I admonished quickly. "Grandfather is here, he can help, he can protect me if needed and if not, you're my magical anchor, we're good."

He can't help but squint."That creep already showed up here, he's already come after you how many times and I'm just supposed to be okay with you going to family wizard school with your grandfather and Katherine?" He grits out with widen eyes.

I cup his face. "Hey,"I say catching his eye. "You'll know if I need you. I have faith that if something goes down, you'll be the one to catch me if I fall." I say looking into his crystal eyes.

I had faith in Damon. We had come a long way, a very long way but what I knew I could depend on most was that he loved me. And for a long time I couldn't trust that those words were true...that I was who he wanted. But now, I knew he loved me just as I had always known I had loved him.

And the one thing we had in common about love, was that we fought for it- with all our might. I knew Damon would fight for me, just as I knew he was aware I'd fight for him. We finally, one..after all we'd been through. Nothing could tear us apart, not Dean, not Elena not anyone.

He groans. "Bon,"

I say nothing but link my pinkie with his. I knew Damon was weary but I had to do this. Grandfather had wanted to speak with me and Katherine for a reason. If somehow we could uncover anything to banish Dean completely, then we had to do it. He was too risky to be left running around like a vengeful spirit.

He bends his knees and looks me in the eye. "I don't like this."

I put my head on his chest. " Duly noted." I say causing him to roll his eyes. "Grandfather knows what he's doing." I whisper out. I know everyone is scared, I'm just as scared if not more so than anyone else, however my grandfather was a powerful warlock and I trusted him.

He places his lips on my forehead. "If you even think he might be near, you reach out to me."

I smile and kiss his bottom lip. "You got it." I make a move but once again Damon holds onto me. I give him a look which he shamelessly ignores. I get it he's worried but, this sudden cave man thing he has going on is not my cup of tea.

"Weston," He calls causing grandfather to turn around. "Hypothetically speaking, what if Dean wasn't the only ghost that was running around?"

Weston shifts from one foot to the other. "Explain?"

"Say a dashing vampire with crystal eyes and a stroke game that is on point,"

"Get on with it." Stefan says rubbing his temples with his fingers. Too much had happen today for Damon to be Damon.

He turns to look at his brother. "Don't be rude Stefan."

"Don't waste his time Damon." Stefan groans.

Crystal eyes roll. "Anyway, say that a vampire had a run in with his very dead, like 19th century dead father. What if Dean isn't the only ghost running around?"

Flashback

Damon

After she had vacated the room he stood motionless as his mind tried to catch up with everything that had happen. Bonnie had just given him a declaration of love and he had said nothing. Never had he been on receiving end of something so profound of a confession of that magnitude and it terrified him.

In his head, he could hear the old man whispering words of failure and he wondered if it were true. Other times he could hear his father laugh because like father, like son- they always came crawling back.

"This is your chance to finally do something right." Giuseppe says his voice a whisper against his ear.

"Your not real." He says closing his eyes.

"Not now." Pause. "I'm just in your head. You have the most powerful woman to grace this earth and your debating what to do." Giuseppe chuckled. "If she were mine..."

"She will never be yours." He yells. "I may have never done right by her but I want to and that's because I love her! And she loves me."

Giuseppe smiles though it fails to reach his eyes."What has love ever done for anyone?"

He looks at his father the old man was the epitome of bitter. Bonnie had been right about Giuseppe, he was and always had been a miserable man and he lived to make everyone around him just as miserable. And the kicker was that he had let his father haunt him even in death.

"This is the last time you will speak to me." He says his voice low and gravely.

Giuseppe takes a step forward. "You think you can get rid of me kid," He says with a snarl. "I'm in your head," He screams. "Your flesh and bones belong to me, I am the one who created you..."

End of flashback

"I bet that old shit was just as nasty as can be." Katherine mutters remembering the times she had been in the presence of old man Salvatore. He was, by far one of the worst people she had to encounter. In fact, Giuseppe was what nightmares were truly made of.

Stefan curses. "Two ghost running around, is not good thing is it?

Weston blanches at the mere thought of all this means. Everything was moving much faster then even he had anticipated. If the time table had accelerated that meant he had less time to prepare. He knew Bonnie wasn't ready, the wounds Dean had inflicted on her were deep, so deep whenever he looked into her green eyes all he saw was the horrors that she may never really talk about.

That, of course was the reason he had unlisted Katherine to assist he and Bonnie in the magic room. For all her faults, Katherine had a pure heart when it came to Bonnie and that was important. Not to mention that Katherine was a five hundred year old vampire. Where newer, or younger vampires lacked certain abilities as they had died off as time went by. Katherine was a different story- she was created by an original vampire and that direct link enhanced her abilities.

The vampire vixen was also able to see things differently from her male counterparts based on her age, knowledge and the fact that for so long she was considered the villain. She would be the perfect asset to team Bonnie. Katherine had connections and if Bonnie ever needed someone with more pull than he had then the vampire vixen was the perfect person for the job. He had no doubt that Katherine would help keep Bonnie safe, even when he, or anyone else couldn't.

Turning to Damon he poses the question that has been rattling around his head. "How long ago was this?"

The raven haired vampire looks to blinks a few time before speaking. "I saw him back in home, but I heard him today."

I felt a chill run down my spine. Damon had two encounters with his father, while I had almost the exact same number of contacts with Dean. That must've meant that this thing, everything that was going on had begun way before Dean. It must all be connected, it had to be.

"Grandfather, what does all of this really mean?" I asked feeling my throat run dry. When I turn to grandfather he looks as weary as I feel.

"It means we might have a bigger problem on our hands." He says ominously.

I take a step forward. "Grandfather, what are we going to do." I ask suddenly cold. "Dean was strong, so strong." I bite out. "If other ghost are half as strong as he..." I let my words hang in the air because I couldn't bring myself to finish my sentence.

He smiles sadly her way. Grayson quest for power it caused this, he can feel it in his gut. Briefly he wonders if his son would give it all up if Bonnie were able to have peace from Dean.

"We will deal with that later, but first- we need to handle Dean."

Mystic Falls

Grayson

Grayson was a warlock on a mission. Shortly after a rather odd conversation with his daughters friends he had been back on the road. His plan had been to visit the prominent witch families that were on the outskirts of town. Once he was through with the remaining families he may have to turn he focus back to his wife. She was still on punishment after all, and he hadn't seen her in quite some time. He wondered if she would love to know that he was gaining all the power from their circle of witch friends and other poor unfortunate ones. Once he obtained enough power, if Alexandria had still refused to love him, he'd bring her, her precious original vampire on a silver platter. If that didn't work he planned to compel her. Sure it had never been done before by a warlock but with the amount of magic he now held in his fingertip, he could destroy just about anything.

As for Bonnie, he hoped the reunion would be filled with everything a father and daughters reunion should be. He knew he could've done better. He knew his obsession with Alexandria had not only pushed his daughter away but put her in the arms of a vampire and later a wolf- but that too would change. Once Damon Salvatore brought his dead ass back from doing what vampires do best which was ruining lives and Mason, his personal solider came back from frolicking with Haley- the two would fight to the death and he would take every bit of power they had and consume it for himself.

After all of that he planned to find his daughter a suitable warlock, one that would benefit both his agenda and his Bonnie and her future.

His phone soon vibrates notifying him that he's gotten a text from and unknown number. He quickly pulls over to read the text only to see that is it from his daughters friend Elena. The forever coveted, thanked him for his kindness and he quickly typed no problem.

Once the message was sent he wondered if she, Elena could be a benefit to him. Elena was the fourth person to be reborn with her face and for some reason that and Achilles heel for so many.

She held no real power, unless you count of the power of seduction and he might just need someone to deflect his misdeeds.

He mulls over his thoughts briefly, remember the pledge he made to himself, not to hurt Bonnie and those she cared about. However, bringing Elena into his spiderweb- would only benefit Bonnie. He would do anything for Bonnie, even tear down the world only to build it back again for her.

A few states over

Mason

When Haley walked away from him, something snapped, it was like he had no control over his body as his wolf, proud and strong, the alpha inside of him erupted. He had leapt across the field to get to her, and when he did catch her only one word rung in his mind, mine.

She was, so soft and smelt so good, his inner wolf wanted to bury itself far inside of her over and over again. Peering down at her, he breathes heavily. Her brown eyes are now a golden color and he knows his own visage is the same.

"Beautiful." He murmurs. As his hips rock on their own accord. What he wouldn't give to take her from behind and have her howl his name.

She can only smile at his words. The scent of him strong, stronger then usual and she loves it, she would bathe in everything that was him, if only he would see her. She shifts and he growls lightly.

"Don't start anything you can't finish." She warns because the little bit of resolve she has been keeping is almost at it's limit.

He says nothing, as he reaches between the two of them and cups her. It had been so long, so, so long.

She arches her back for only a few seconds as his fingers ghost over her through the denim of her jeans. His hands are hot, and when he lower the zipper of her jeans she bites her lip in anticipation. Once inside his fingers slide inside a gasp escapes her mouth. It had been so long since he had been this close. She thought about him often, so often. Her thoughts had been nothing compared to the real thing.

She leans up and catches his mouth in a kiss that is nothing short of reckless and messy. Its brutal and everything she craves. But what she craves most is him. "Mason, please."

It's the sound of her voice that breaks him out of his haze. Looking down he sees Haley. The same Haley he had left for very good reasons. Blue-green go wide. She slams into him faster and despite everything he can't stop looking at her beauty.

He hadn't tasted her in so very long, so soundlessly he removes himself from her and taste the remnants of her that clings onto him. He closes his eyes as his mind starts to race. He can see them now, it's so vivid- they had been so vivid, so bright but that was then, and this...this was now.

When he opens his eyes Haley is before him, a look of mischief in her eyes. She's wearing nothing but a smile and he can feel his wolf willing to take over and have what was his.

She takes a step and he shakes his head. "Don't" He says wagging his finger at her.

"Why?" she says boldly ignoring him and bridging the gap between them. "We both want this."

He grabs her face with both hands and crashes his lips onto hers. His shirt gets tossed somewhere and soon he feels her hands running down his chest resting on his belt.

Once again he pulls away.

"I can't do this Hales."

Crestfallen she walks away and quickly rights her clothes. "Whatever." she says once finished. "I gotta go." She says almost painfully.

He watches again as she starts to walk away, his wolf suddenly feels like howling sadly. "Haley," He pauses and walks over to her only to stand right behind her. "I do love you. I will always love you." He says placing a kiss to the back of her head.

She scoffs. "Yeah, you just love her more."

She would always love Mason, want Mason, he was the father of her son. She'd always fight for Mason, but this-this would never happen again. She wouldn't allow it.

With that he let her walk away.

Seconds, minutes, hours past when he finally looks at his phone. Grayson is calling, he quickly sends the warlock to voice mail. He had to get his urges together because when he saw Bonnie again, he wanted to be the same man she loved. The only part that sucked was, he wasn't sure that man existed anymore.

All he could feel was the beast her father created.

Bonnie

The magic room was just what you thought it would be, a room filled with spell books, magical crystals and herbs. The Du Pres family crest was front and center as if it were a beacon of strength. I could tell by the way my grandfather looked at the family crest from time to time that this was his strength, his hope. This was his legacy and it was important to him. It was important to me too. I was the product of the two most powerful witch family dynasties and all I wanted to do was make them proud.

"So this is where the magic happens?" Katherine coos while she stands in between Grandfather and me. She looks impressed. "I can easily say I've never been in this kind of situation." She purrs looking between the two of us. "But, I'm down for the cause." She flirts.

I send her a meaningful look. I hope it says, save your flirting for Stefan because we've got work to do.

Grandfather chuckles for the first time and the sound causes me to look over at him quickly. He looks so much better than he had before the ceremony had started. I guess knowing that Dean could and would pop up at anytime and do whatever he wanted to do to me, weighed on him almost as much as it weighed on me.

"I'm quite aware of your past adventures." Grandfather says all the while looking at a scale that is located on the massive table in front of us.

I can't help but snort at his words. Katherine and her bed count was probably legendary. I wasn't quite sure if that was a good or bad thing, but it did make for something to ease the tension. My soft giggles soon stopped when grandfather sent me a look as well. His look said I'm aware of your past deeds as well, which straightened me out real quick.

When he's busy looking at something else Katherine and I share a look. I bump hips with her while she only grins.

"What exactly are we doing?" I ask my eyes landing on the Du Pres family spell book. I had never seen it before, not in real life. However, I knew what it was, I could feel my connection to it- as if it were my own.

Grandfather looks up and smiles. "We're going to flush the remaining toxins out of your body and then, we are going to make you the rightful owner of the Du Pres spell book."

I could feel my eyes get big at the mention of the spell book. "You- you want to give this to me?" I ask as my fingers trail over the letters of the thick big spell book.

Grandfather comes over to stand in front of me. "You Bonnie, are the future of this family, you are the rightful owner to this book." He says honestly. His family legacy it belonged to Bonnie. It would be up to her to change the narrative Grayson had started.

"What about dad, he's your son?" I ask brow furrowed.

Grandfather only smiles warmly. "This is yours." He says kindly. "I'm going to transfer this over to you, the minute I know that all of Dean and his toxins are out of your system." Grandfather says with finality.

The mention of Dean makes my stomach churn, the only light at the end of the tunnel is that grandfather will make sure that Dean no longer has a connection to me. We were well aware that he was feeding off of my fear, that fear was making him stronger but the connection he created, all traces of it needed to be gone for good.

I nibble on my lip and nod. "How are we going to do it." I ask suddenly. "How are we going to make sure that Dean and every bit of his magic that touched mine, is fully eliminated.

Smile. "That's where Katherine comes in," Grandfather says adjusting his glasses. " She's going to bite you."

You could literally hear a pin drop.

Why would grandfather want Katherine to bite me and more importantly why would I let her. We were cool but, like this was a whole different level of cool.

Katherine crosses her arms in front of her chest. "What- wait, why? How come Damon isn't doing this, he's her familiar?"

Grandfather glances between Katherine and I to the shelf that houses a plethora of crystals before suggesting that we come and sit.

"Damon cannot possibly be the person to bite Bonnie because the connection they have is too strong. Damon and Bonnie are connected through her magic, and her heart. If something were to go wrong," he pauses.

I bite my lip again. "If Dean has any traces left in me if Damon bites me Dean might have the same access Damon does." I say finishing his train of thought... or at least I thought I finished his train of thought. This whole thing was super confusing and to be honest, grandfather looked just as confused.

Grandfather levels Katherine with a look.

" I need you to bite her and get inside of her blood. I need you to find out if traces of Dean still linger. And once you find where he's lurking... if he's lurking I want you to hold onto him."

Katherine rubs her forehead. "I don't understand why your..." She pauses. Not many people trusted her to do much. Most were afraid she'd turn on them and that was rightfully justified. But here, Weston- was trusting her to help Bonnie. "Why?" she asks finally.

"It's simple, the two of you balance each other out." grandfather says. "Where Bonnie is concerned your heart is pure, and so is your friendship. Your heart will help you watch out for her when or if others cannot."

Katherine gets up soon and walks over to the scale on the table. "So we're like the balance of nature or something like that."

Grandfather walks over to the vampire vixen and brings her back over to where I'm sitting. "You're her compass, when she feels lost."

I look over to Katherine, she didn't sign up for this and if she didn't want to do it, I wouldn't hold it against her. "You know, Katherine you don't have to do this."

Katherine only grins. "This means I totally knocked Stefan and Caroline out as best friend status." she says fluffy he hair. "Lets do this."

After a few seconds I nod my head. I wanted Dean gone and if Katherine could catch him somewhere in my blood then I was ready. I hold my arm out for her, while Katherine soon lets her fangs drop.

"You just need a little sip and once you've tasted her blood, I need you to use your vampire nature to dig deep inside of her blood, I need you to follow the trail Dean is sure to have left." Grandfather says all the while placing a crystal necklace on Katherine.

Katherine nods.

"You ready?"

"Ready."

Before we get a chance to even begin grandfather gets a call that leaves him looking like he's seen a ghost. He leaves shortly after causing Katherine and I to look at each other bewildered.

Damon and Stefan

Once they are alone he turns to Stefan who is giving him one of the most dirtiest looks he's received, at least today. His brother had made it perfectly clear what he thought of Bonnie and he being in the same space, so all of this– he becoming her familiar and all, not to mention the sealing of their bond, was probably eating his brother alive.

"Cat got your tongue Stefan?"

"How did you do it?" Stefan asks leaning against the fireplace. How Damon managed to become Bonnies familiar is beyond him, but he knows it was probably so back handed deal his brother made. Everything just so happen to fall in place the way his brother wanted it to be. This was all to easy. First Bonnie admits she's still in love with Damon, then all of this crap with Dean and then Damon saves the day and now crowned the familiar of the same girl he had been trying to get back for ages.

He gives him a heated look. "I didn't do anything, underhanded if that is what your implying." He says deadpan. "This happen all on it's own." He admits fingers flexing. He wasn't the bad guy here and the sooner Stefan got that in his big head, the better.

"You're her familiar." Stefan says more to himself. "I just- I can't believe it." The younger Salvatore says dumbfounded. He was thankful that Damon was able to save Bonnie from a monster like Dean. However he still didn't trust his brother where Bonnie was concerned. Damon had the tendency to do whatever he wanted when he wanted and that meant he was a liability especially when it came to Bonnie.

Catching the hint of jealousy he studies his brother. "Jealous you weren't the one to bring the best of her magic out?" He says almost tauntingly. Stefan is so obvious. His brother hates the fact that this is yet another thing that is anchoring Bonnie to him and he to her.

What Stefan failed to notice was this thing with Bonnie, it wasn't temporary. He meant everything he said today...when they bonded it was for life.

Stefan chuckles. "More like sad that she'll be shackled to you when you pull a Damon and go back to what you've been chasing, for over a century."

He grits his teeth. He hates the fact that everyone expects him to go back to chasing after Elena. They were a mistake brought on by the mere fact that he and Elena tended to ruin everything and everyone in sight. As for Stefan, his brother was the one who ran back to Katherine. "Aren't you the pot calling the kettle." He sneers. "Your legit screwing Katherine."

Stefan shrugs. "Katherine knows the deal while Bonnie," Green eyes soften. "She wears her heart on her sleeve and you somehow get the key to her heart and her magic. You'll eat her alive."

Glacier eyes get frostier. "You've always hated the fact that your best friend fell in love with me. You were cool when she fell into my bed, but the moment she fell in love with me, your tune changed." He shakes his head taunting. "Your ticked off, that Bonnie and I, are so intertwined that I can feel every breath she takes."

Stefan balls his fist. "I want to protect my friend, from getting hurt!" He glares. "You have a habit of doing that, so forgive me, for not taking your vows seriously." He says using quotation marks when speaking of said "vows". Damon talked a good game but that's all it was, a game.

He sucks his teeth. He's not trying to fight with Stefan not now. Not when they need to protect Bonnie from Dean. "Then help me, and stop fighting me." He says earnestly. "You don't have to like it, but you need to get use to it...Bonnie and I, we're bonded now, and nothing you say or do, or anyone for that matter will change that fact." He grits.

Stefan only clenches his jaw tight.

Blue eyes study him before a sigh in finally released. "I love her and she loves me. You fight this, you'll lose her."

Stefan lets his head drop. He can't change what has happened. It appears it was all meant to be. He can, however watch out for Bonnie and that's what he'll do. "Fine," Stefan says reluctantly.

"Truce?" He asks bringing a glass of whisky for the two of them.

Stefan looks long but then accepts a glass. He knew that they were still at odds, but between Giuseppe and Dean, they needed to be a unit. "For Bonnie."

He nods and clinks the glass with his brother.

Silence, it stretches till they both finish the glass.

"We have to figure out why ghosts are suddenly running free." He says causing Stefan to look his way.

Stefan wipes his face. "Between the two of us, we've got a lot of enemies and our blood count is endless." pause. "But dad,"

"Is the worst." He finishes as he walks over to the sofa. "I don't want Bonnie worrying about anything but Dean." He says finally. "Which means, I might have to call a favor in from an old friend." He admits thinking of Gloria. "The witches must know something about this?"

Stefan sits across from him. He finds himself, smiling at the thought of calling Morgan. They didn't know each other that much, but she told him her secret and that had to count for something."I might have to do the same." He mutters. He needed someone he could trust, someone that could be honest with him and Morgan fit the bill. Yes it was taking a chance on a stranger, but he felt a connection with her and that had to count for something.

Sitting up he looks at his brother, a faint smile even ghost on his lips. This is definitely not the Stefan of a couple minutes ago. "Since when do you have witch friends, you two timing Bonnie behind her back?" He says playful. In truth the small smile that found its way to Stefans lips is cause for some alarm. They were kind of getting along, and if Stefan rocked the boat Katherine might snap.

Stefan ignores him and glares. "I met a girl, her name is Morgan and she's a witch."

His mouth hitches up. "Well lets go talk to this girl." He says standing up. Weston took way too much time and he was a man of action at the end of the day.

"No!" Stefan says with a shake of the head. "I'm gonna talk to Morgan and you contact your friend, we'll meet up here and compare notes." Stefan says as if he's trying to hide this mystery girl from everyone.

He watches Stefan walk to the door. "Stefan," Sigh. "Katherine will skin you alive and the witch your grinning about won't have a chance."

"Call Gloria." Stefan says knowingly. "You said it yourself, we need all hands on deck so that we're informed."

He nods his head agreeing "I love her Stefan," He calls after his brother. "I am in love with her and she is in love with me. I'll do anything to make sure she's safe."

"I know." Stefan admits. He knows Damon loves Bonnie. He just wonders how long Damon can last before, he falls back into old habits and crushes Bonnie all over again. Maybe this time will be different, maybe it won't. The only thing he does know is that, they need to find out what's going on.

"Tell Morgan, I said thank you."

Stefan stops in his tracks hearing the sincerity of his brother. "I will."

Bonnie and Katherine

Grandfather had gotten a call which had him looking like he had seen a ghost, leaving Katherine and I alone.

"Was it just me or was that weird?" I ask Katherine, all the while watching as Grandfather walked faster than I did.

Katherine listened keenly hearing nothing. "It was very sketch but, warlocks are like that."

I arch a brow. "You've been around warlocks? I thought you spent most of your time starting brother feuds."

She only throws her head back and laughs. "It's a past time you seem to falling into." she says innocently.

I nudge her. "That"s not funny."

Katherine shrugs. "It's still true though. The way Stefan defends you..."

I smile. "He's my bestfriend."

Katherine looks down. "For what its worth, I'd do the same. I know Stefan and I aren't like your bonded familiar, kinda sorta boyfriend, husband."

"That's a mouthful." I say.

"I'm sure it was." Katherine grins. "I mean you just saved me from a creepy warlock– makeup sex must be epic in a super lovey dovey kind of way."

I glare her way.

"I've got your back and so does Stefan."

I smile again "Thanks." I say hopping off the desk. "So how about you have my back while we sneak into Deans room?" I ask. Grandfather had gone off to take a phone call, and I wanted to wait for him. But I wanted to do most was get in the mind of that creep that way when he tried anything I could hit him just as hard, with things that hurt the most.

"I'm down." Katherine says ready to make a move. "You know I use to be a private detective."

"This is the beginning of a dirty joke isn't it?"

Smile. "Of course."

-Weston-

Weston and Grayson

The very moment his phone rang he knew in his gut who it was. His whole body stiffened, while his heart began to accelerate. Judging by the wild look Katherine sent his way, he knew the vampire was aware as well. With a curt nod to both his granddaughter and Katherine he retreats to his office.

Once alone he sits at his desk waiting for the next time the phone will ring. It always does. Grayson always calls him to confess all his wrongdoings. He isn't sure if his son does all of this out of habit or if he secretly wants someone to stop him. He knew his son hadn't always been this way. A broken heart had changed his sweet boy into a monster. And as Grayson had gotten older his heart had turned colder and colder. It seemed nothing could make his son happy, not till Alexandria and even then Grayson was still so obsessed with power. He had hoped that when Bonnie came along it would curb his son thirst for everything. However it did little to nothing.

His son was an addict. He was addicted to power, addicted to control and more than ever addicted to Alexandria. That was why that obsession had been so dangerous. Grayson would do anything to hold onto Alexandria and Bonnie. They belonged to Grayson, or at least that was what he had thought. The truth was, that he never really had Ally and as for Bonnie when she learned the truth about her father- he would lose the only real thing in his life.

"I thought it was high time for our weekly session father did you miss me?" Grayson's jovial voice jumps through the phone.

He lets out a long sigh, so his son is aware he's listening.

"Well, you'll be glad to know I've been on my best behavior since arriving in Mystic Falls." Grayson says proudly. "I haven't drained anyone in a few hours and I've even scheduled a meeting with the council later this week."

Weston rubs his eyes. "How long do you plan on continuing this way son? You know, you can stop it. You can fix all of this but," He paused and looked over at a picture of he and his son when everything was much simpler. "You have to want it."

A dry chuckle escapes his mouth. "That's not part of my agenda father. I want everything and I wont be happy till I have it all."

Hearing his son admit to not having enough power had him seeing red. Grayson was a bright warlock, he always had been but his obsessions it was his downfall, and would be his downfall if he kept it up.

"Do you know what you've done?" He asked passed playing nice. "What this thirst for power will cost you?" Weston demands picking up a portrait and throwing it across the way. He was tired of hearing his son brag about what he was doing but mostly he was angry that Grayson was so wrapped up in his own wants and needs that he didn't realize the magnitude of what he was doing and what it was costing his daughter.

Grayson lets out a sigh. "Is this the ever so boring talk about the balance?" He doesn't give his father time to speak. "Because from where I'm sitting the scale is tipped in my direction."

Infuriated Weston speaks! "At what cost? You've already lost Alexandria." He says causing the younger Du Press to suck in a breath. He can see it on his face, his son his hurt. His words may be hurtful, but they were truthful. Grayson had to see past Alexandria. "Do you want to lose Bonnie too?"

Grayson slams his hand on the table. "I won't lose Bonnie." He proclaims proudly. "Once I get enough power I'll be able to rid them of the leeches they cling to." He then smiles. "I'll even be able to make them forget."

"You cannot compel a witch, even with all your power." Weston says tiredly.

"No." Grayson says smiling again. "But I can use persuasion."

Weston looks down. "You can't have persuasion over your wife and daughter without the magic of the oldest person in your family bloodline." pause. "Which would be my magic."

Grayson sat back in his chair and held his phone at a different angel. "I'm glad you said it, now I don't have to."

Weston leans forward. "Is that a threat?" He asks his voice serious. "Because I'm stronger then you- older than you and if needed I'll do what I have to do, to stop this."

Grayson spins in his chair. "It's a fair warning old man." He says simply. "When I get your magic father, I'll have the means to get everything I want." He pauses thoughtfully. "I'll have my wife, without the stench of Elijah Mikaelson." He says grinning. "And my daughter, my beautiful daughter will be free of her vampire and werewolf paramour. It's then that my family, will be the most powerful witch line, to exist." He says proudly.

Bonnie and Katherine

When we reach his room, I feel a something twist inside of me. It's like fear is gripping me, coiling itself around me and stealing my breath. Confronting your fear and the person, that put it there, is a difficult pill to swallow. I knew that this room held some of the answers to the many questions I had since first meeting Dean. Why was he so obsessed with me? How did he know so much about my life, about my parents? And most importantly how did he know me?

When I was with Dean, it was like he knew all of the things that terrified me and used them, he used every single one of them against me. He fed off fear, but what he feed off of most was me.

"You don't have to do this." Katherine calls as I place my hand on the doorknob. "I can check it out myself and you could..." Her words trail off. She places her hand on my shoulder and I bite back a cry. He tortured me, he got in my head and wrecked me. I was barely keeping it together and had it not been for the bond I was sure I would've been a mess.

I close my eyes. I know what she's trying to do. She's trying take away the pain. But I wonder if it'll ever go away. I turn to face her my eyes glistening because all I did was cry lately. "If I don't do this, he'll win." I look down. "I refuse to let him win." I say quietly. "So I'm gonna go in that room and I may have a panic attack, I might just set some things on fire, but I'm gonna take back what he stole from me." I swore. He would never control me again.

"Then lets do it." Katherine says placing her hands on her hips.

I nod and soon push the door open.

Katherine and I share a look before stepping forward only to have the door slam behind us.
