When I see an Elephant Fly

Saturday had come around very quickly, and as she paced back and forth in the small livingroom she had conjured she was becoming increasingly more and more nervous. She had tried desperately to work out where her feelings stood for both Draco and Blaise. For Blaise the answer had come easier to her, she really did fancy him. He was gorgeous, and cheeky, his smirk made her swoon and in Ron's words he was bloody brilliant. She knew he was smart, she had seen his test scores and he was perfectly capable of rivalling her in majority of subjects. Maybe it was because she had hardly known Blaise and their interactions had been very minimal in the past that she was able to accept her attraction to the dark Slytherin.

Draco however was a different story, they had a past a dark past. One of hatred, bulling and a fierce rivalry one she was rather proud to announce she won. There had always been a secret attraction towards him, one she would have taken to her grave if ever questioned, she could remember the moment she had first realised she was attracted to Draco Malfoy. They were sat in Charms it was their third year and Professor Flitwick was running late. It had only been a week since the Buckbeak incident and his arm was still strapped up and in a sling, he was leaning on his chair talking to Theo Nott who was behind him. She had turned to snap at him wanting to tell him to lower his voice as she was trying read the next chapter in her charms book when she saw it. He was grinning, no smirk or frown but a wide grin, his eyes were large and there wasn't a single sign of malice in them, she couldn't help but stare for the first time in three years she was seeing him, the real Draco Malfoy and she finally understood what Pansy Parkinson had meant when she said he was attractive, she had turned her head away seconds before Professor Flitwick had entered the room, whether he had noticed her staring at him he had never said, but Hermione never forgot.

Could she open herself up to Draco and was he at all interested in her, there was the old Muggle saying that if a boy was mean to a girl it meant he liked her but Draco hadn't just been mean he had been down right evil, but the more she sat and thought about their past encounters she couldn't help but feel he always targeted her, maybe the saying was true?

She dropped on to the corner sofa with a sigh, how had she fallen for both Draco and Blaise? Why was everything in her life so full on? Most people fell for just one Wizard but not her she had to be crushing on two wizards, two friends in fact, how she would ever decide on which one she liked the most?

The door to the room of requirements slid open and she heard two sets of footsteps enter the room. Her stomach did a summersault and she squeezed her eyes tightly shut before taking a deep breath. Now or never.

Hermione's head appeared over the sofa and Draco smiled, relieved that Hermione was here, he had been a nervous wreck all morning, and he'd even managed to knock his pumpkin juice all over himself at breakfast due to being distracted. He glanced over to Blaise and frowned, he knew the Italian was just as nervous about tonight as he was but he hated how Blaise always seemed to look calm.

He had a soft smile on his face as he looked towards Hermione, he could only see her head from her spot on the sofa. "All ready?" he asked and she nodded.

With a grin Blaise walked around the sofa and dropped shamelessly down beside her resting his head in her lap, looking up he grinned cheekily almost daring her to tell him to move.

Hermione shook her head, her nerves from earlier fading at Blaise's bold move, her grin slipped to a smirk and with a quick twist of her hand she ran her fingers through his locks listening to him moan softly.

"Can you get any more desperate," Draco chuckled as he sat beside Hermione watching the raven haired wizard with slight envy, he placed his arm over Hermione's shoulder before moving in close. "What films are we watching then?"

Hermione shivered at his words, his breath tickled her neck and he was incredibly close, her mind was at a blank; what with Blaise's head on her lap, and Draco's arm around her shoulder, his head so close to her ear that he could take it between his teeth before she could do anything to stop him (and there was even a small bit of her hoping he would)

"I was going to let you two decide," She said softly "I've laid out a few choices on the table."

She inwardly let out a sigh of relief when Blaise pushed himself up and looked at the selection on the table.

"Robin Hood, the Lion King and Dumbo." Blaise said looking back to Draco.

"Dumbo," said Draco with a shrug.

"A film about an elephant with really big ears that learns to fly?" Blaise frowned and Draco once again shrugged.
"You don't want to see an elephant fly?" he said "C'mon it's an elephant those things don't fly."

"Yeah Blaise I've seen a horse fly I seen a dragonfly I seen a housefly but have you ever seen an elephant fly?" Hermione had purposely chosen those three films. She was curious to how they would handle the death of Mufasa, every time she watched it she got emotional and also the scene where Dumbo visits his 'dangerous' mother in her cage. And for Robin Hood well she wanted to see the look of horror on their rich faces as Robin Hood steals from the rich to give back to the poor.

"Okay then Dumbo it is." said Blaise handing her the film.

Dropping on to the sofa Blaise turned to Draco and smirked, unknown to Hermione they had a plan a simple plan but a plan none the less. They were going to woo Hermione Granger! They had both admitted late one night their feelings for her, instantly becoming competitive declaring to the other on why they should be the one to date Hermione and even more reasons on why the other shouldn't. The conversation had become quite heated and passionate and before Draco knew what had happened he found himself tongue deep into Blaise's throat, hands in his hair and himself up against a wall as the tall Wizard gyrated against him.

They were left with many unanswered questions after that. They hadn't slept much that night their minds tormenting them with new information, possibilities and fears. It wasn't until the early hours of the morning did things begin to clear up and truths were finally admitted. They had decided to keep their relationship quiet. There was already too much gossip being whispered through the school corridors, they didn't want to add more especially Draco who was still suffering from his previous embarrassing revelation. The Hermione problem faded away and they could only hope that she would fit perfectly in between them, it would be an odd request to make to someone and though polygamy was accepted in the Wizarding world it was an old tradition that had faded out. But there was still one question that need answering, did she like them in return. They had their suspicions but they need proof so tonight they were going to get there proof.

Hermione glanced at the two boys and frowned, they were acting… odd. That was the word to describe them, something was up and she trusted either one of them. She sat back in her spot between the two of them and Blaise laid his head back on to her lap like before. His hair was soft and as the film started she found herself playing with it. Draco's arm came over her shoulders and she glanced over to him almost disappointed that he hadn't placed his arm over her shoulders with a traditional over exaggerated yawn. His eyes however never left the film, his brow was crinkled as he watched the film with curiosity. He smelt nice, firewood and mint it was an odd combination but it was comforting and before long she relaxed into his side.

"Oh c'mon his mum was only protecting him," shouted Draco as they watched circus crew throw ropes over Mrs Jumbo and pulling her to the ground.

"What they going to do with her now?" Blaise asked looking up to her face.

"Watch," she said returning her hand to his hair.

"You keep that up and I'll be asleep," Blaise muttered as Hermione laughed.

"Sorry, old habits die hard you used to like this when you were little," she said as she removed her hands from his hair.

"Used to put him to sleep then didn't it?" Draco said with a smirk as Hermione nodded still grinning.

"Worked like a treat," she said as Blaise scowled up at her. "Oh stop it, you were insanely cute."

"Still am," he muttered his lip pouting as he turned back to the TV, "aww poor little thing I hate clowns."

Both Draco and Hermione rolled their eyes but said nothing though the large smirks on their faces said everything, they continued to watch Dumbo's journey with the clowns before Hermione reached for Draco's hand and squeezed it. He was about to speak when he saw tears beginning to well up in her eyes as she stared at the screen. He turned back to see what had caused such an emotional reaction. And his expression softened at the scene in front of him. The words to baby of mine filtered around the room as Mrs Jumbo's trunk rocked her baby, he squeezed Hermione's hand in return as he felt a lump appear in his own throat.

"Isn't this supposed to be kid's film," Blaise said clearing his throat and Draco was pleased to see Blaise was also effected.

"It breaks my heart every time I see this film. He's a baby that wants his mum and he's been picked on and he's miserable. The maternal instinct in me so desperately wants to jump into the screen unlock Mrs Jumbo and let them be free but then I remember it's a cartoon but it still hurts."

The boys nodded it was strange as they also felt a similar feeling of protection towards the oversized eared creature.

"I still don't understand how he's supposed to fly," said Draco as he watched the pink elephant scene.

"Seriously, dude it's the ears!" Blaise said with a shake of his head, "I want what Dumbo has some bloody strong stuff."

"It's just champagne I think," said Hermione amused with how the night was going so far. "Do you think that's what it feels like to be drunk?"

Both Wizards pulled away from her in shock their attention completely diverted away from the elephant on the screen. Hermione eyed them both confused their expressions were full of shock and she couldn't understand what she had said for them to look at her so funny.

"Are you saying you've never been drunk?" said Draco slowly.

"You have?" she replied for the blonde to raise both eyebrows. "I'll take that as a yes then."

"I can't believe you've never been drunk," said Blaise with a shake of his head. "The goody two shoes nickname really isn't that far stretched is it."

"Can I just remind you both that I've done many terrible and dangerous things but because I've never been drunk it means I'm a goody two shoes?" Both boys nodded and Hermione rolled her eyes. "Fine so you drunks, does it actually feel like that?"

"I've never hallucinated and seen pink elephants but it can make you a bit goofy." Chuckled Draco. "Makes you wake up with a horrible headache though."

"And a bit sick and the next morning you always swear you're never going to do it again and then you do it again and you feel shit all over again… Hey Dumbo is in a tree, how'd he get there?"

"Watch," Hermione said to Blaise with a shake of her head. "I thought Draco would be the one to talk all the way through the film but it's you."

"Hey!" Draco argued while Blaise grinned and stuck out his tongue. "I don't think Dumbo actually flew up there though."

"How else did he get up there you idiot? He can't climb he's not got the body for it." Argued Blaise.

"Yeah and an elephant can't fly, see even the crows are singing about it. Why is there so much singing in a Disney film?"

"It's Disney Draco they sing." Hermione was having a blast, it appeared the two men beside her still had very similar personalities to their toddler selves.

"What the…" said Draco as Dumbo with his black feather flew. "How is he doing that?"

"It's the feather you idiot shut up." Blaise's eyes were wide as he stared at the television

"He's only just got the feather you fool he was already up the tree!"

She had tried so hard to keep her laughter at bay as the two boys continued to bicker, but she couldn't hold her laughter in any longer.

Both boys looked at her in confusion which only added to the hilarity of everything. "Oh… I love you guys… you're so funny," she said trying to catch her breath.

"I feel mocked," Blaise mumbled his lower lip slipping into a pout, "I don't get what's so funny he's got a magical feather and can fly, I have a broomstick that makes me fly."

If she bit her lip any harder it would bleed, she was sure of it. Blaise looked so innocent but the laughter was bubbling up in to the witch's chest and she wasn't sure if she could… nope it was too late and a second fit of laughter erupted from Hermione.

Even this time Draco with a dumbfounded expression on his face stared at Blaise. "You can't be serious," he said as Hermione cackled beside him. "It's not the feather you idiot. Like I said he was already in the tree before he had the feather. Maybe he's still drunk… wait what's he doing now. Why is he standing on the top of a flaming building."

"Oh shit he's gonna jump!"

"He can't actually fly though can he? Hermione stop laughing!" he snapped which only caused Hermione to laugh even harder.

Her side hurt, it really hurt and she couldn't breathe but she simply couldn't stop laughing.

"Have you hexed her without me noticing?" Blaise asked Draco as they both looked at the uncontrollable witch. Draco shook his head.

"Look the elephant has dropped his magical feather… oh wait."

Taking a few deep gasps of air Hermione slowly regained her composure as Dumbo flew over the crowd shooting peanuts at the clowns.

"So it is the ears." Both boys muttered and Hermione just shook her head.

"A baby elephant with giant ears and it took you almost the entire movie to work out it was the ears that allowed him to fly."

"Shut up," they both muttered as they watched as Mrs Jumbo waved her trunk to Dumbo as he flew behind the moving train. The credits started to fall and she closed her eyes with relief. She wasn't sure she had the strength to watch another film.

"I liked that," said Blaise with a smile.

"What's not to like it's got a flying elephant in it. Though I wouldn't want to be under it when he lets one go, imagine getting that off your robes." Hermione just laughed. "She's at it again mate, do you think she's broken." Chuckled Draco.

"Honestly you two are one of a kind."

"How are we one of a kind when there's two of us," Blaise said with a smirk causing Hermione to pat his head.

"You know what I mean," she said with a smile.

"Well you're stuck with us love." Said Draco with a smirk

"How will I ever cope," she laughed.

"Maybe if you take a leap of fate you'll find out," Blaise said softly completely changing the tone of the mood. Hermione paused and looked into Blaise's eyes. They had softened and even showed a glimmer of nervousness. She glanced down to her hand as Draco slowly interlocked her finger with his.

"Sometimes you have to jump into something feet first," Hermione glanced between the two of them, she had known them for years, but she'd really only known them for a few weeks and in those few weeks she had realised how much she loved being around them. As children they made her heart swell and even as adults she felt a buzz of excitement from being around them. She'd never felt so right in anyone's company like she did theirs not even Harry or Ron could make her feel like this but right now she felt like she was where she was supposed to be, sandwiched between these two men both opposite in appearance yet so alike and it felt... like home.

"I suppose you never know if something is meant to be unless you give it ago." She said softly smiling at them both.

"You sure?" said Draco and Hermione nodded.

"It's weird don't get me wrong and it's going to take a lot of getting used to but I think it may work,"

Blaise and Draco grinned, "Here's to the future!" Said Draco squeezing Hermione's hand in his "Whatever it may be,"

Hermione and Blaise chuckled. "And before you ask love, yes Draco is going to be the dramatic one." He said with wink.

"Rude," Draco muttered under his breath though a smile still graced his face. "How about another film," he said jumping up. "I don't fancy a film about lions far to Gryffindor let's watch Robin Hood!"

Blaise shook his head as he faced Hermione, he softly stroked her cheek as Draco tried the video player. "You finally sort things out?" Hermione asked softly her eyes glancing over Blaise's shoulder. To which he nodded.

"Just took an argument over a certain witch to clear the air," he said softly and Hermione nodded.

"And exactly where will I fit in to this,"

"If three people stand together you are always in the middle of the other two and that's where you'll find yourself," Hermione nodded and smiled. "Do you mind?" he asked and Hermione shook her head. With a smile Blaise lent forwards gently pressing his lips to hers, they were soft and she smiled in to the kiss, he lent back before planting another on her forehead.

"Sounds good to me," she said reaching for his hand.

"So what's Robin Hood actually about," said Draco as he sat back on the sofa.

"You'll see," said Hermione with a smirk, she wasn't sure she was prepared for the onslaught of abuse this film was about to receive and the million and one questions that were surely to follow, but she looked forward to it just like she looked forward to everything she was going to share these two men. She had never been so grateful for a disaster in potions.

The End

I actually don't think I can believe it, it's only taken me like 2 years to get to this chapter, parts of this have actually been written for years but so much has changed in my life. I've had a baby who is almost 9 months old and she's just brilliant. I moved out and moved back home. I've struggled with depression loneliness, and some serious writers block but I've been determined to get this story updated. I can honestly say thank so much to all the people who have reviewed alerted and added it as a favourite this story has meant so much to me and I'm really sorry it's taken this long. I'm sure you were all expecting it to be forgotten about.

I'm planning two epilogues, one about Harry and Pansy and the other around Hermione, Blaise and Draco to follow this chapter but the actual plot is now complete. It's been one of my favourite plots to write and I really hope you all have enjoyed the story and also this chapter, let me know if there are any errors in this chapter I'm half asleep but I just wanted to post it. Thank you and Hope you enjoy :D
