The next day Yuki woke up before Kyo once again. He lay still for a few moments, appreciating the silent company. Only when the clock next to the bed read half past six did the rat slowly make his way out of the warm bed. He left the room quietly without waking Kyo, wanting the boy to sleep in. He left with Tohru a bit after seven, the walk to school quiet. Yuki was worried about Kyo, making it hard for him to make small talk.
"Ne, Yuki-kun. I'm sure Kyo-kun will be fine." He looked over to the girl, surprised.
"How-? Thank you Honda-san." The brunette smiled and they continued on their walk.
The day went by without anything interesting happening. If anyone noticed Yuki being distracted, nobody mentioned it. It wasn't until the end of the day that something, or someone, managed to distract him.
"Excuse me, Sohma-kun?" Yuki turned around from where he was standing at his desk to see the same girl he had talked to before standing behind him.
"Can I help-"
"Who is it." the girl interrupted. It was more statement than question. Her hair was covering the upper portion of her down-turned face, her bangs hanging low.
"Excuse me?" Yuki turned around fully to face the girl whose name escaped him at the moment.
"Who is it? Who do you like?" He still couldn't see her face and her posture was stiff. Yuki felt himself grow uncomfortable with the situation.
"Who I like should be of no concern to you. Please, I explained to you before that-"
"Who is she?!" Yuki jumped back, startled when the girl suddenly looked up, rage clouding her features. "Who is this bitch?! Tell me!" Yuki tried to remain calm. He grabbed the school bag he had been putting books in behind him on his desk as he answered her, ready to make a run for it. One wrong move and it would be more than her finding out about Kyo that he would have to worry about.
"Miss, I ask that you leave me alone. Who I spend my time with is for me to decide."
"She'll never be good enough for you! I love you! I know everything about you! I've been watching you, waiting to tell you. She is nothing!" Her voice became shrill and Yuki took a more firm grip on the handle of the bag. Out of no where, the girl's face cleared. A look of realization overtook the rage as she continued to stare at Yuki.
"Please go home now. It's after school hours and I need to get to the auditorium for-"
"It's that girl from the dance, isn't it? The one you were fighting with! How could you Sohma-kun! She doesn't deserve you! I do!" Yuki abandoned arguing and instead bolted out of the room. "I will find her Sohma-kun! I love you! Not her! I will make you mine!" Yuki's heart was racing when he finally reached the auditorium. He was a few minutes late but the general chaos that was practice hid his arrival from the director. He cursed under his breath as walked toward the stage. Nothing good was going to come of this, he knew it.

Yuki didn't make it home until almost five o'clock, practice having gone on longer than usual. He was tired from the long day but he knew he would be having trouble sleeping tonight. That girl's words still rang through his mind, eating at him. He decided during practice to warn Kyo so he wouldn't have any nasty surprises when he came back to school. He almost bumped into the cat when he got inside he was so lost in thought.
"Oi, trying to finish off the sick? What's up?" Yuki looked up, startled.
"Ah, sorry. Something just happened at school..." Kyo snorted.
"All the neat shit always happens when I'm not there." Yuki gave a small smile but he was too troubled to fully appreciate the joke. Kyo noticed Yuki's stiff posture and raised an eyebrow. "So what happened?" Yuki looked around and sighed.
"I'd like to just sit down. Can I explain it in my room?" Kyo nodded and waited for Yuki to pass him to follow him up the stairs.
"What happened to get you this worked up? A fight break out?" Yuki shook his head as he tossed his bag next to his desk, sitting at the chair in front of it. Kyo chose to sit on the bed with his legs crossed, his arms holding him up behind him.
"Do you remember the girl you saw me arguing with? Outside the auditorium?" Kyo nodded his head.
"Yeah, she still bugging you?" Kyo started sneezing and Yuki waited until he was done before answering him.
"Something like that. Something's not screwed right in her head. She told me she'd been watching me and knows all these things about me. It was creepy." Yuki's face looked part disturbed and part disgusted. Kyo himself felt uncomfortable with this information, not liking the idea of Yuki having a stalker.
"The hell? She's nuts! You remember her name? Tell a teacher about her." Yuki shook his head.
"I don't remember and they wouldn't do anything. She said she would find you though, which was worrying. I want you to watch where you're going when you go back to school." Kyo gave Yuki a blank look.
"You want me to be on the look out for a little girl? Really?" Yuki glared at him.
"Just do it, alright? She's nuts and I don't want to see you get hurt." Kyo sneezed again and shrugged, sniffing his runny nose.
"If you say so, I'll keep an eye out I guess." A low knock came at the bedroom door.
"Yes?" Tohru opened it just enough to poke her head through.
"Dinner's ready if you'll come down."
"Thank you Honda-san, we'll be right there."
"Ok!" She smiled and closed the door once more. The two boys stood up and Kyo yawned.
"What did Hatori say?" Kyo shrugged, stretching his shoulder muscles.
"Said it's probably just a cold. Gave me shit for being out in the rain. The meds he gave me are making me sleepy though." Yuki nodded as they made their way back down the stairs.
"When did he say you could go back to school?"
"Thursday or Friday. He said it depends on when I get better."
"You're going to miss a few rehearsal days then." Kyo rolled his eyes as he sat down at the table.
"'Cause I'm so worried about that right now."
"Aren't you behind though, Kyo-kun? You should try and catch up before you go back."
"I know, I know." Shigure came in and sat down smiling.
"I was thinking Kyo-"
"Trying to set off the smoke detectors again?"
Shigure ignored Kyo's comment as he continued, "Why don't you practice walking in a skirt while you're sick? It would be good practice while you have the free time."
"What the hell is with you and that damn snake always trying to dress me up?!"
"But Kyonkinchi! This is an honest concern of mine! In the end, it won't matter how many lines you've memorized if you can't walk across the stage." Kyo groaned and put his head in his hands, elbows resting on the table.
"Kyo will do fine. When he decides to practice is up to him." A tense silence fell over the table at Yuki's words. The telephone ringing down the hall was the first break in the verbal cold war.
"I'll get it!" Tohru rushed up from the table, leaving the three of them on their own for the time being.
"Yuki. Kyo." The two said boys looked up at Shigure's serious tone, confused as to what brought it about. "Are you prepared for what will happen at school? Have you decided on what you're going to do?" Yuki and Kyo looked at each other, hoping the other knew what the dog was talking about. Shigure sighed and steepled his fingers in front of himself. "You're playing a female lead Kyo, and you went to the dance with Yuki not even a month ago. Didn't either of you think someone would make the connection?" Kyo paled and cursed under his breath.
"You want to know if we're going to let them find out or try to lie." Shigure nodded. Yuki stared off into the blank space where Tohru had been sitting in.
"Talk to each other about it." Shigure stated right before Tohru came back in the room.
"Sorry about that."
"It's fine Tohru, is everything alright?"
"Yes, that was just Hana-chan asking about one of our classes." While Shigure and Tohru continued to make small talk Kyo and Yuki were both conflicted, occasionally sharing glances with one another. Once dinner was finished the two excused themselves and made their way up to Kyo's room. Kyo yawned as he got ready for bed. Yuki sat silently at the desk, arms folded, staring blankly in front of him.
"Hey, don't think about it too much. We still have your stalker and the play to deal with first." Yuki pursed his lips but unfolded his arms.
"I guess you're right. There's more to worry about right now." Kyo shrugged and turned away from Yuki, sitting down on the bed. "What?"
"Nothing." Yuki raised an eyebrow.
"If it's not nothing if you won't look at me. What's on your mind?" Kyo shrugged again.
"I was just thinking that there isn't really anything to worry about at all with what Shigure said. What's going to happen will happen whether we like it or not. No matter if your stalker goes away or if the play turns out well or not, unless I drop out of it, someone's gunna figure it out."Kyo started coughing and Yuki waited until he was done to hand him the glass of water near-by.
"We'll see. Shigure was right by the way, not that I'l ever repeat that where he can hear it. You should probably practice wearing a long skirt while you have the time off school." Kyo groaned and fell back on the bed. There were a few moments of silence before Kyo leaned up on his elbows to glare at Yuki.
"I'll think about it." Yuki rolled his eyes and stood up.
"It's up to you. I'll bring my homework in here so you know what you're missing." Kyo snorted, which made him sneeze. Yuki chuckled at the face Kyo made.
"And here I thought it was just the company keeping you around."
"That too." Yuki said right before he slipped out of the room to get his books. The dull thud he heard from the door made him laugh. Kyo had probably tried to hit him with his pillow. The smile faded from his face as he made his way to his room though. What had happened in the classroom today had bothered him. Until Kyo was back to normal health he was going to try and keep an eye over his shoulder.
