Disclaimer: Warehouse 13 isn't mine. And I should really catch up with the rest of the Season.

Summary: When all is said and done, they don't need the Warehouse.

A/N: Holiday Fic Request Meme. Aside from a drabble that was vaguely Pearl Harbor fandom, this is probably the shortest fic I ever wrote. I'm actually sorry it's so short but when I heard the song Oktaria prompted me with I knew I had to use it for the S3 finale (that I, I admit it, haven't even seen yet...) and this is why it's so short. I hope it still makes sense...

Anyway, as always: Not a native speaker, so please excuse any weird grammatical constructions, run-ons and typos. Feedback will earn you a cookie, flames will roast my marshmellows.

Blinded and Harpooned

"She's stuck there on her
Island so marooned
The lime light's got
Her blinded and harpooned."

Katzenjammer, "Play My Darling Play"

When all is said and done, they don't need the Warehouse. When all is said and done, they don't need the Regents. When all is said and done, all they need is each other.

At least, when all is said and done, that's what he wants to believe. That they don't need the Warehouse or the Regents or all the artifacts. He wants to believe they just need each other, Artie, Claudia, Myka, himself. Myka and himself. In the moment they see the Warehouse crumble to ashes, he knows he's lying to himself but he wants to believe so much.

He wants to believe he can take Myka and drag her away, away from all of this. He remembers seeing her walk away from the Warehouse after the first time Helena broke her heart or maybe she broke her heart herself. He remembers wanting to hold her back, lock her in her room at Leena's, do anything just to keep her from leaving. He remembers seeing her again in her parents' book shop and slowly realizing she needed to do it. That doesn't mean it didn't break his heart when she left.

But now the Warehouse is gone and Helena is gone and this time, he doesn't want to let go Myka again. If there's any going, he's going with her and he'll even bear leaving Artie and Claudia behind, just to be with his best friend and not let her fall apart alone again. That's what it's coming down to, isn't it? His best friend is going to fall apart again and there's no way in hell he's going to let her do it alone another time. It would destroy her. This time, it would.

He's poised to go, grab her arm, drag her away… and then it's over. He blinks.

It all happens in a flash and he never knew one person could think so much in just a few seconds. All until Artie pulls out MacPherson's watch and says they haven't lost yet. Next time, then. Next time the Warehouse blows up or it breaks Myka's heart, he's gonna drag her away with him. Next time he will.
