Snowball Fight

Disclaimer: I don't own Fullmetal Alchemist.

Note: This is a one-shot that I wrote for a fellow Risembool Ranger on deviantART, DarkJujuMagumbo, as a Secret Santa gift.

Roy Mustang was glad that it was his day off, a slight smile on his face as he walked through the snow-covered park with his hands buried into his coat pockets.

However, it eventually became clear that he wouldn't get as peaceful of one as he would have liked.

It wasn't long before his head snapped forward slightly as a snowball collided with the back of it. Roy whirled around to see who had thrown it, but the only people nearest him were a young couple snuggling together on a bench. He frowned and resumed his walk.

"Hey, Colonel, catch!" Edward Elric's voice rang out right before another snowball hit him.

"What the—!" The reaction was a little delayed as he turned to face the Fullmetal Alchemist, who had a widespread grin on his face. "What was that for, Fullmetal!"

Edward's grin spread. "It's a snowball fight."

Roy rolled his eyes. "And you couldn't have told me about this beforehand?"

"But that takes the fun out of it," Edward replied matter-of-factly.

While he was distracted, another snowball hit the Flame Alchemist from behind. When he turned to face his attacker, a round of snowballs hit him from his blind spot. Roy made an exasperated noise in the back of his throat.

"All right, who the hell—?" This time, the snowball hit him right in the face. He sputtered and shook his head, blinking past the white stuff obscuring his vision in time to see Maes Hughes duck back behind a tree. He frowned and bent down to gather up a handful of snow, packing it into a ball, and waiting for someone to come into his line of fire.

Edward streaked past, looking for better cover. Roy tossed the snowball in the young blonde's direction, but he noticed its approach.

"Hey, Al!" he called before sliding in the snow to take cover behind his brother; the snowball broke against the armor.

"Brother, don't use me as a shield!"

"Hey, it works, doesn't it?"

Alphonse was about to argue, but then the snowball fight was beginning to heat up as the rest of Roy's subordinates came out of their hiding spots. Edward watched from behind a tree, occasionally throwing some at random targets. Eventually, he dashed to another area of their "battlefield", dodging the snowballs thrown in his direction, and clapped his hands together when he reached his destination. In no time, he had a type of snow fort serving as a hiding spot for him. His younger brother glanced over, sighed, and ran over to join his brother. From the safety of his fort, Edward began throwing snowballs left and right, as his exasperated brother handed him more ammo.

At that point, there was a lull in the battle, as everyone was hiding. After a few moments, Roy looked over at Edward's fort. He smirked and pulled on his ignition cloth gloves. He waited a few more moments before he snapped and destroyed it. The Elric brothers went flying into the air, landing in a pile of snow. Alphonse's metal limbs flailed about as he tried to free himself. The elder Elric's head popped out of the snow, which he was shaking vigorously.

"What the hell, Colonel!"

"Serves you right, Fullmetal."

"Alright, that does it!" He clapped his hands together, and a canon formed from the snow, bombarding Roy with a flurry of snowballs.

"Ha! In your face, Colonel!"

Roy wiped the snow off his face, and smirked slightly before retaliating; this practically buried the young blonde under a snowdrift. Alphonse helped unbury his brother, who was fuming. However, the Fullmetal Alchemist grudgingly agreed to calling a truce, since it was getting late. But the next time…
