Surprise! I LIIIIIIIVE! I cannot apologize enough for not continuing this or my other stories. Between school, transferring and family holiday where my computer decided to die I couldn't put anything together (actively steals momma's iPad any chance I get). A BIG THANK YOU FOR STICKING WITH ME THROUGH THIS! Promise to look through the stories that need a new chapter and by the end of the week at the earliest Sunday the latest they SHOULD all be up to date.
Sirius POV
I slammed down the two fingers of firewhiskey as I signed the letter I plan on sending to Remus. Harry had told me that he had received a letter from Hermione but refused to the address. I sighed heavily at the argument that had ensued when I demand he tell me where Remus had gone. Where Snivellus and the Bookworm had taken him and my nephew to. Color me surprised when instead of answers I got a chain of hexes shot my way.
"How dare you say that about them!" Harry yelled as hex left his want with a flick of his wrist.
"How can—" he started before ducking another hex.
"I defend him, Snape, for one because it takes influences from all around you to make a choice," he sent another hex, "I defend Hermione because she is the one that stood by me no matter what," and another, "And I am defending Remus and my godson from being martyred by the very people who are suppose to help them through a loss!"
"But Snape—" I tried to protest.
"Shut up!" Harry yelled causing me to pause, "Severus did more for me despite his treatment than most. I would not have been able to see the child of the woman I love with another man. The very same man that bullied me throughout my entire school career for being in another house."
"They were just pranks!" I yelled indignantly, "...just school boy pranks."
Harry let out a humorless chuckle, "The same 'school boy pranks' were done to me because I was different from them...ever wonder why I didn't turn into the next Dark Lord? Did you ever stop to think that abuse and bullying can lead to dark places?"
I remained quiet at that.
"I was abused and bullied, not a childhood much different from Severus'," Harry said quietly.
"But Ron said," I started meekly.
"Ron would say anything if it meant 'getting back' at Hermione," Harry said clearly not amused with what I wanted to say, "He is pissed that Hermione caught him in a lie and balls deep in inside another woman in their bed."
I flinched at that not having known the clear other side of the story.
"Beside, Hermione was planning on leaving him long before she ever caught him in the act and way long before she even fancied Sev," Harry said still somber but no longer pointing his wand at me, "Just...stop and considere why they are leaving before coming back and making demands please?"
With that he turned around and left me to my lonesome.
I gave another sigh as I signed the letter and sealed it in an envelope.
I saw Harry going into the kitchen and followed after him.
"I...um...could you send this to Remus for me please?" I asked him wearily holding out the letter to him.
He sighed and nodded and took it eyeing it suspiciously.
"There's no need for that pup, I didn't spell it," I say surprised.
Did he not trust me to trust my own best mate? Well, I wouldn't either if I was as over bearing as he says I was to both him and a child.
Author's POV
The pair spent the rest of the afternoon and night in a restless cycle of pacing and sitting down as they waited for the rain to stop. Leah on one hand tried to keep calm, despite the pacing, for the sake of Teddy. She is very aware that children take queues from their parents or grown ups. She doesn't want him to see her jumpy and get worried or jumpy himself.
Remus on the other hand was feeling the effects of the moon. He had faith that Leah would keep their pup safe and focused on keeping his wolf at ease until he transformed. Easier said than done in his opinion. Considering that he and Mooney have never really gotten along enough for them to share a conversation no matter how long or short.
"Give me a chance..." Remus said to the wolf as they quarreled in his mind.
"Why should I consider the words of a man who would allow his mate to fade?" Mooney asked with a growl.
"Then let us—"
"Us?" The wolf growled.
Remus nodded.
"Have you come to your senses after all this time pup?" The wolf asked voice lowering to a soft rumble.
Remus nodded and said, "For too long have we fought for power, too long have I hated you for being thrust on me and my life. It's time I grow up. Not only that, but we both now have a place to call home...our true home."
Mooney huffed a laugh and nodded agreeing with his human half for the first time in their lives. And for the first time in many moons man and wolf bonded and the physical pain receded allowing for a much easier transformation.
Severus and Hermione listened in downstairs pacing up a storm having had experience with Remus' transformations. The couple are aware of the struggle and have spoken to him about bonding with Mooney once and for all. A legilement experiment done by Seveus proved that Mooney had been struggling against the effects of the Wolf's Bane for years. Further tests brought to light that the potion may help the infected retain their memories but not health wise. For months Remus tried and was rejected by his wolf. Until they found their true mate. Now it's up to man and wolf to win her over and see to her and their pup.
The couple could do nothing but wait as their friend shifted for the first time in their new home.
When the man opened his eyes they were the color of gold as a sign the wolf and man have finally bonded. The now bonded man and beast stood and took off their clothes before opening the transfigured window and letting the change occur.
With a mighty howl Mooney now sporting a thick coat of sandy brown/grey fur and standing on all fours burst through onto the ground below.
Severus and Hermione wide eyed saw how the wolf walked the immediate perimeter of the building before sitting down at the door.
"He wants us to go to him," Severus told his lady.
Hermione nodded and mindful that they were going to be opening the door to a werewolf, went to greet their new friend. And finally see if bonding with the wolf has any effect on the mind of the human.
"Remus?" Hermione said mindful to appear non-threatening to the horse sized wolf.
The wolf barked a laugh and nodded.
"He says to stay in doors tonight, to...I am not going to dignify that with an answer wolf," Severus said with a blush before wishing the wolf a good evening and ushering a curious Hermione back indoors to do said unspoken things.
Mooney made quick work of marking his territory before making a dash into the woods. Finding a high enough hill the wolf let out a loud and deep howl singing to the moon.
The rain came to a full stop after night fell and the clouds parted as night progressed. Leah could see the moon from behind the quickly disappearing clouds. The night was going well for all until a deep howl broke through the tree line.
"What was that?" Jacob asked walking up to Leah.
Leah looked out the window eyes soft and yearningly.
Jacob saw the look and nodded in understanding, "I'll tell Sam to mind the pack tonight. And don't worry about Teddy, he'll be fine with us."
Without a backward glance Leah made her way to the back door not caring for her clothes she shifted mid jump from the edge of the door through the tree line. She stopped and let her own howl in search for her mate and kept on running.
Both wolves ran having heard each other's call.
"She's out there," both man and wolf thought as they stopped to scent the air searching for her, "There!"
With new vigor, Mooney ran following the trail of her scent until in the seeming middle of the forest. The wolves looked at each other one waiting for what the other would do and the other basking in the scent of his mate.
