Zabuza and Mei had been discussing arrangements for the Chunin Exams, namely which teams would be sent out and which of them would be attending as a representative of the village should any of Kiri's teams make it to the Third Phase when a sudden indrawn breath from Zabuza's shadow turned their attention to the low table that had been placed in the office for decoration more than anything.

It was a good thing that Haku had caught their attention, because after having used the table to pull himself to his feet, their son had pulled his hand away and looked to be preparing to take his first unassisted steps.

Both parents turned to look at each-other. In a flash, both Zabuza and Mei were standing a few feet away from the table that their child was about to toddle away from.

"Come to daddy." Zabuza said with a sharp toothed smile.

"Come to mommy." Mei countered, holding her hands out to the child that she regretted often neglecting in favor of her duties to her village which needed her guidance after the bloody years of Yagura's questionable reign.

This of course started a competition between the two parents who called for their child to come to them. After looking between the two of them for several long moments, their child made a decision, and firmly set out, carefully toddling across the floor on his own two tiny feet.

A minute later, the child was standing in front of a very surprised Haku.
