I stared at Ace with the most serious expression that I had had in quite a while, making it seem like I was almost seeing through his very soul. The other ten year old boy stared back at me as he tried to seem innocent and calm, as if I hadn't just caught him staring at Luffy for quite a while and as if he had been sleeping instead.

"What were you doing staring at Luffy like that? It's 4AM and the kid's sleeping" I stated.

Ace bit his lip. "It's not what it seems" He just said.

"Really? It wasn't what it seemed like?" I asked sarcastically.

"No it wasn't" Ace said back, knowing full well that I wasn't going to believe any of his excuses.

I stared at Ace for quite a while as I recalled what had just happened. I had suddenly woken up at 4AM, thirsty, and the first thing that I had seen was Ace, sitting on top of his bed, staring intently at Luffy.

"Staring at people like you were doing in the middle of the night is creepy you know?" I suddenly said, making Ace blush faintly.

"It wasn't like that" Ace then said yet again, not wanting to explain or admit absolutely anything.

I just stared at him, trying to guess what this had been all about. I had noticed Ace being a bit… weird… lately, but I had no clue what it could be exactly. I remained like this for who knows how much time until suddenly popped into my mind: Ace likes Luffy! I immediately grinned and reasoned this, realising that Ace was acting in a very similar, almost identical, way as I had seen some girls of the town act with the people they liked. Yes, this had to be it. A big grin appeared on my face, knowing that Ace would have just realised that I knew now what this was all about.

"I see, so you like Luffy in that way" I said teasingly "I'll tell him immediately. Hey Luffy! Wake up!" I then shouted as I went towards Luffy, teasing Ace.

"Don't say anything!" Ace suddenly shouted as he jumped at me, trying to stop me from moving towards Luffy. "It's not that!" He then added.

"If it's not that then why are you getting so defensive?" I just said as I wrestled with Ace. "Oi Luffy! Wake up! I have an interesting thing to tell you!" I shouted again.

"No! Don't tell him anything!" Ace shouted again, this time more desperately.

I grinned, again teasingly, and with a look I managed to reassure Ace that I wouldn't say anything to Luffy.

"You both start fighting and you don't tell me? I hate you guys!" I suddenly heard a voice behind me say. "I don't care what you think! I'm fighting too then!" It then added.

I turned around just in time to see Luffy jumping at us, with his infamous grin in his face, with the obvious intention of defeating both me and Ace. I really wondered how he still managed to be so optimistic and determined about it, I really did.
