"So, how are we not gonna lose?" Superboy asked awkwardly into the semi-circle of teens. In the middle of the mountain forest, the small group of heroes had assembled to scheme for battle. "What's the plan?"

5 pairs of eyes fell expectant on Robin.

"First thing first," the Boy Wonder replied nothing but business. "We need to take care of Manhunter's mind-reading."

"You think they're listening in right now?"

"But the game hasn't even started!"

The mini-bat opened his mouth to share some wisdom of how you can never trust the Dark Crusader, but closed it abruptly. Something more important had popped up in his head.

"Uh, is it okay if I take over?" He looked sheepishly at Kaldur. Falling so comfortable into the role of the leader, Robin realized too late which boundaries he had crossed and that the other boy might not appreciate it.

"What? Oh, yeah sure. Please be my guest. It's your game anyway." It felt so natural to let Robin take over it hadn't even occurred to the Atlantean that officially he was, in fact, the one in charge.

Robin nodded satisfied and continued, "If you think Bats hasn't blackmail material on basically everyone than you are severely mistaken."

"Fair enough."

"I could try blocking uncle J'onn, but I won't manage to keep up our mental link at the same time. Sorry."

"That will have to do."

"What about Superman?" The clone grumbled.

Wally and Rob gazed at each other, using their own special connection. True bros didn't need a psychic link.

"Pen and paper then?" KF asked.

"Pen and paper it is", Robin confirmed with a grin.

Conner wondered for a fleeting moment how the Boy Wonder would manage to fit quantum mechanics into the explanation before he dismissed the thought altogether.

Silence. Utterly deafening silence. The group stared at the innocent sheet.

"What?"

"Are you for real?"

"Nobody can read this, this..." Artemis was lost for words. She pointed with a finger at the awful scribble that Robin called writing and looked offended.

"It's not that bad."

"Dude, your a looks like an e, and your u,n,v, h, and k are identical!"

"How is this even possible?"

"Don't you have mercy on any form of language?"

It was Kf's turn to stifle his laughter, however, he did a terrible job at that - presumably on purpose. "This is nothing, I have seen worse," Wally grinned in glee. "I could translate," he offered generously. "But Rob, you have to at least try to write actual words."

"No wonder you are always so attached to your electronic devices, it's the only way for you to communicate," the pity in Megan's voice was the nail to his coffin.

"Could we please stop the bat-puns and move on? You know the clock is ticking."

They ignored the acrobat and the teasing went on. Robin rolled his eyes. Sadly nobody saw it, well that, or they simply didn't care.

"Okay, I have a last one: Oh, Boy Wonder, it's a wonder you passed second grade with that hand 'writing'," Artemis actually went so far and did the quotation marks in the air, "of yours."

"I hate you guys."

"No, you don't."

Robin had finally enough. To avoid further unnecessary comments, he took a stick and drew his master plan into the sand.

The group shuffled closer together.

"Wow, this is-"

"Insane!"

"Suicide!"

"Awesome!"

So over-dramatic, the mini-bat thought a little bashful. "Well?"

"I am impressed."

"Of course you are!" Robin beamed.

"You're sure he'll come?"

"Yes."

"Is this even allowed?"

"It says mentors vs proteges, so technically-,"

"More important, will it work?" Kaldur asked skeptically. He saw where the younger one was coming from, but still, there were a lot of variables missing.

"Of course!" Robin grinned cheeky. "What could go wrong?"

Here we go. They were doomed.

"I still don't see how we can beat them," Superboy interrupted. Unless Robins belt contained kryptonite, they stood no chance. Which to be honest, wasn't so far-fetched.

"We don't have to beat them. We just have to distract them long enough for us to win."

They had two big advantages. First, the League underestimated them. And second, they did not want to trash the mountain any further. The Boy Wonder would make full use of those.
