A Jump in Time
*~*Chapter one*~*
Emily was bored as ever. All her friends were busy. So she took solitude in the local library. She walked around to find a book and found a perfect one. "Aha! Fellowship of the Ring!" she whispered. "I meant to get to this!" She opened the book to the first part of it. There was a mysterious glow coming from it. Emily put her hand in, and strangely, her fingers got sucked in. "Uh oh." Soon, her entire arm was in, then her hair, and then all of her. The last thing she heard was a "clunk" from the book falling and closing. Emily was in a strange place with high grass and tall trees. She stood up and dusted herself off. She looked around, the realized… "I'm in the Shire?! How?!" Emily started to walk, passing hobbit holes and other hobbits along the way. They were quite friendly, waving silently while doing work. All of a sudden, two young looking hobbits ran into her. Emily fell to the ground, and so did they.
"Oi! My lettuce! All ruined!", said one, near tears.
"Pippin! Shut it! It's a big person!" The two looked at her in amazement.
"Uh, hello! Quit staring at me! I'm not that great!"
The two hobbits shook their heads and apologized. "Sorry 'bout that. I'm Meriadoc, though most call me Merry, and this is my cousin, Peregrin, or better know as Pippin."
Pippin looked up from the ground dusting off his lettuce and managed a "Hello!"
"Welcome to the Shire! Are you a traveler?" he said
"Not really, kind of…just fell here." Emily smiled.
"We can help!" said Pippin, happily. "We know the Shire like the top of our feet!"
Pippin looked down at his large feet. "AHHHHHHHHH! When did I get muddy?"
"Pip!" Merry hit him on the head, "We were running from Farmer Maggot!"
"Oh…Yeah! Now I remember! But don't hit me!"
"So you can help?", interrupted Emily.
"Sure! Me and Merry here can get you around!"
"Uh, Pip?", said Merry
"What?"
"We were gonna see Cousin Frodo."
"She can come with!" Pippin smiled at her. The group got up and willingly Emily followed.
