Frozen

When Mike and Don had found him it had been horrible, over the course of twelve days a storm had blown in and trapped Leo and Raph outside of the lair. The difference was that Raph had been closer and had managed to get home after the storm let up some.

He'd been exposed for five days and collapsed after entering the lair; it had taken six days to help Raph recover enough to sit up on his own.

But Leo, he'd been out for the full twelve days he'd made phone contact with April once but had been cut off.

They had found him curled into a fetal position over an hour from the lair, huddled up against a storm drain opening. Unconscious and freezing cold, Leo had been unresponsive. It had taken them a good forty minutes to wake up Leo and get a response from him.

The mumbled whimper had been the only reaction. It had taken them nearly two hours to move Leo back to the lair due to the fact that Leo couldn't even walk.

His legs buckling in exhaustion and trembling the whole time.

Only minutes ago they had helped Leo lay on the second bed in the infirmary, he had passed out seconds before.

Leo whimpered softly as Mike helped settle the eldest into the pillows and blankets as Don scrambled around to get things ready.

Don threw some fluids into a warmer and then scrambled around the room again.

Mike was sitting next to Leo now, hands shaking as he cradled Leo's limp hand. As he did so he gently massaged his brother's fingers; attempting to warm them.

"Don," Mike managed, "he's not…"

Don shushed him.

"Don't wake up Raph, that's the last thing we need right now," Don whispered as he gathered all the blankets he could find.

"Don," Mike whisper-screamed as Leo's body began to seize and then went limp.

Don pressed a comforting hand on Mike's shoulder.

"Hypothermia," Don whispered gently, "now I need you to fill up the tub with warm, not hot, but warm water then warm up the fluids I laid out in the heater in the corner. We have to do what we did with Raph, we have to be fast."

Mike nodded and dashed off to do as ordered. Don took an already warmed fluid bag and began to slide them into the needles that fed them into Leo's veins.

Leo stirred after a few seconds, didn't wake, but his eye lids fluttered slightly.

Don carefully lifted Leo up into a "bridal" carry, flinching when he realized how much weight Leo had lost from exposure and lack of food over the past week and a half.

Leo moaned softly, shivering as Don quickly moved him to the warm tub and after Mike nodded to him, he eased Leo into it as Mike pulled back the blankets.

Leo remained unresponsive as Don continued to treat him, then finally around 8am Leo opened his eyes and mumbled Don's name before passing out again.

Don eased himself down into a chair and sighed offering Mike a smile.

"He's not out of the woods yet, but I'd say he's stable enough for us to switch off on getting some rest," Don whispered, "go wake Sensei and have him come down here and then warm up some broth for Raph. He should wake up soon. I'll move Leo into the other bed and warm him up with some blankets again."

Mike nodded tiredly before rubbing his knuckles gently across Leo's cheek as an act of comfort. Leo stirred in the warmed water and leaned towards the gesture.

Don chuckled slightly.

"Still remembers that from when splinter used to do it to help him with nightmares," Don said with a grin.

~2 Hours Later~

Raph stirred on his bed in the infirmary, grunting as he started to sit up. When he opened his eyes and looked across from him he spotted Leo, limp, buried in blankets, and out cold.

"Leo," he gasped.

"Let him rest Raphael," Splinter stated softly.
