Panic

Tsuna had paperwork to do. There was always paperwork to do. So it didn't matter that he felt like his head was stuffed with cotton, or that his muscles were sore to the point of pain. He pushed it off, put it in the back of his mind and focused on the paperwork in front of him.

It wasn't like paperwork was hard exactly, just really, really time consuming so Tsuna figured it would be alright, and kept going.

No matter how much his head hurt or how his hands began to shake.

It was fine. He could keep going and deal with the paperwork or it would just multiply to the point of insanity.

As time passed, Tsuna worsened, but he kept going. If he was one thing Tsuna was stubborn. The paperwork needed to be kept up with no matter how he felt.

So Tsuna did it.

It was that simple.

Reborn had been in to see him at one point, but Tsuna wasn't quite sure what they had talked about beyond the fact that Reborn had finished his mission and come home perfectly alright.

O~O~O~

Reborn had known on sight that his student wasn't feeling well. It was in the way he held himself, the almost-but-not-quite autopilot answers and in the lack of coffee cups around his desk.

He had left his student to his paperwork despite that. He had resolved to check on the boy frequently and make sure his Guardians didn't cause any…issues while Tsuna did the paperwork though. He was sure it was alright- that Tsuna just felt badly and it would be fine.

He out of everyone in the mansion knew exactly how stubborn his student could be.

(He remembers the day he had stood in front of his student- still so young and inexperienced and frightened- and commanded him to hand back the boss-watch only for that student to turn him down and vow to fight him seriously for the right to protect and free Reborn)

If Tsunayoshi had decided to come in and do paperwork despite feeling badly, Reborn would allow it and would simply watch over the brat (the boy was going to give Reborn grey hairs. Reborn didn't get grey hairs) and make sure he didn't make himself cross from 'not feeling well' into 'sick'.

Sick Tsuna was bad news. It tended to cause panic.

And chaos.

And not the good sort of chaos either. (The kind Reborn caused and reveled in)

The kind of chaos that was the result of panicking Guardians, a clumsy but worried Dino, a nosy and loud Byakuran who delighted in pressing the buttons of those around him with no Tsuna to calm the mess, a destructive Varia (who was not there to check on the Mini-Boss Reborn what were you talking about) and whoever happened to be in the area when the news got out.

(And the news would get out.)

Hopefully Tsuna never found out about the amount of repairs the mansion went through when he was too sick to manage the bunch of crazies his family consisted of. (It helped that there was literally an emergency account that the family added to specifically so Tsuna didn't wonder about the funds that went into repairs during the time he was sick)

(Reborn had not contributed to the destruction thank you very much, the bullet holes belonged to Xanxus no matter what the Varia boss said.)

So Reborn let his student do as he wished.

(Even though his Sun Instincts wanted to bundle Tsuna away and fix the issue immediately. Reborn knew he was a violent mother-hen. He acknowledged that fact utterly and made it work for him. He owned his Mother-Hen tendencies thank you very much.)

He even managed to keep from throwing something at his student or hitting him (so Reborn got violent when he was worried. So what?) while he was there.

Tsuna didn't really notice.

It was worrying. His student was usually a ridiculous sort of aware when it came to his surroundings and especially his family. For Tsuna to not notice was sending up quite a number of red flags for Reborn. He shoved it into the back of his head though.

Instead he constantly came back to Tsuna's office to check up on the brat.

(Seriously. Grey hairs.)

O~O~O~

Tsuna wasn't sure what happened.

He'd sat down, did more paperwork than he wanted to think about, and then glanced up only to see it was time for dinner.

Tsuna didn't remember missing lunch. He didn't remember Reborn coming into the office and forcing crackers on him with tea. He didn't remember much of anything.

But he figured he might as well head to the kitchen for dinner. It was tradition after all.

(Unless on a mission, injured, or sick the entire family always had dinner together. It was one of Tsuna's rules.)

He never made it that far.

O~O~O~

Reborn frowned staring intently at the doors leading into the dining room.

Tsuna was late.

Tsuna was never late.

He glanced around the table counting heads. Everyone else had arrived. Reborn stood, not one inch of his body language or face giving away his worry as he headed for the door. "I'll get Tsuna."

Reborn glided out of the dining room, but as soon as he was out of sight he sped up. He knew the way to his student's office by heart (he had to force Tsuna in there to do paperwork often enough) so it was easy for him to round the corner of the hallway only to pause.

His eyes focused on the unmoving lump in the hallway and Reborn stilled. He knew that suit, that hair…those limbs that were so still.

Reborn ran.

He slid to his knees beside his brat, his senses working overtime to sense any threat even as he gently rolled Tsuna to his back.

(He ignored how Tsuna just sort of flopped where Reborn laid him out.)

He cursed sharply as the flushed face came into view, and the shallow pained breathing became evident. When he reached to check Tsuna's temperature he had to pull his hand away at the heat. He cursed again, reaching under Tsuna's limp body to lift him into a bridal hold. He ran for the Med Bay in the Sun Wing without pausing.

When he arrived Reborn kicked the doors open and carefully laid his brat down. He quickly stripped of his own suit coat and rolled his dress shirt sleeves up to his elbows so he could scrub his hands. Then he reached to the wall pressing the intercom system and demanding "Dining Hall-Family." When there was a 'click' noise letting him know he had hooked up to the proper intercom he demanded "Ryohei get your ass to the Med Bay. Tsuna is sick."

He ignored the chaos that broke out at his words, the breaking dishes and screaming voices. He had delivered his command and Ryohei would be running his way. He cut the intercom off, working instead on quickly pulling Tsuna free of his clothes to quickly change him into the cream colored hospital gowns the Med Bay was stocked with.

Reborn was a steady hand as he hooked an IV into his student. He didn't dare to use his Flames until he knew what Tsuna was sick with.

Some sicknesses took the 'Activation' part of Sun Flames and multiplied with it. They would become super bugs and were hell on the immune system and very, very resistant to antibiotics. Reborn didn't want to chance trying to heal Tsuna when he wasn't sure if his Flames would just make the sickness worse.

Reborn's hands remained steady as the doors flew open to let Ryohei into the room. The younger Sun didn't even look at Reborn racing for the sinks to scrub his hands even as he stripped off his coat and rolled his dress shirt sleeves up to his elbows.

As soon as he was cleaned up Ryohei rushed up to his side with all the controlled worry of a Sun looking down on one of his own injured or sick. His eyes flew over Tsuna taking in all the visible signs and symptoms of what was wrong with his Sky as well as what Reborn had already done.

O~O~O~

Outside the Med Bay, the rest of Tsuna's Guardians prowled, waiting for their two Suns to tell them what was wrong with Tsuna. They were silent and still apart from the occasional pacing/prowling, none of them daring to fight so close to the Med Bay especially with Tsuna residing inside.

O~O~O~

When Reborn slips out to update the Guardians, the only sign of his surprise is the slight narrowing of his eyes.

Who had told the Varia Tsuna was sick?

(Yamamoto had missed his sparring session with Squalo and Squalo had come looking for him. The end result was Squalo calling Xanxus to tell him why Squalo wasn't coming back on time, and then the rest had showed up and trickled into the mansion.)

"He's stable." He informed the hovering group with a sigh. "His sickness is stubborn, and we can't use out Sun Flames to heal him without turning the sickness into a Super Bug, but he's stable. Lussuria- if you wouldn't mind we could use an extra set of hands."

(Only a very few trusted Suns were allowed to work on Tsuna when he was down since it left him vulnerable. Lussuria was one of them.)

In a sign of how seriously Tsuna being sick was treated, Lussuria didn't make one playful comment, nodding instead as he answered "Absolutely" and slipped his shades off his face, passing them to Squalo who was closest as he slipped into the Med Lab after Reborn.

Reborn wondered how long it would take before the hallway filled with the others Tsuna had pulled into his sphere of influence and inevitably broke out into panicked chaos.

He'd best take advantage of the calm while he could before the property damage started.

(He knew he'd be the one that had to leave the Med Lab to calm the chaos down eventually.)
