A/N: 'Misplaced' response again~ Everyone is doing Robin and Zatanna, so I figured I would do Wally! Enjoy!

Warnings: Spoilers for 'Misplaced' and a somewhat mature Wally.

Disclaimer: There would be more mentor/protégé bonding moments if I owned Young Justice.

Empty

"Did you call home?"

"No answer."

"You could Zeta there."

"I've been collecting kids all day. I don't need to see another empty house."

He turned as Superboy entered the high school gym, but the look on Artemis's face told Wally that she already knew the truth; he had gone home. He didn't Zeta, he had ran, but the fact was still there.

~Wally~

The first stop had been his parents' house. He hesitated for a second(a miracle for a speedster) before he entered the house. The golds, browns, and greens of the interior were the same as ever, but it was quiet. Too quiet. The TV was off, the washer wasn't going, there was no conversation or laughter. When he wandered into the kitchen, he realized someone(most likely his mother) had been in the middle of making dinner. He turned off the oven, pretty sure he had missed saving the roast, but not wanting to risk burning down the house, at any rate.

He went through the first floor, checking every room on the way. Wally's hope fell a little more with every empty room and as he repeated the routine on the second floor. His room(still messy from that morning), his parents' room, the guest room; all were completely devoid of life other than himself. Then there was no life as Wally sped off, the only sign of him ever being there to begin with a slight breeze blowing the curtains.

He ended up outside Aunt Iris and Uncle Barry's place. Wally sped right in, knowing the two should've been home by then if this whole debacle hadn't happened. A small smile crossed Wally's face when he saw the evidence that he was right: Iris's purse on the table in the hallway, Barry's lab coat tossed over the back of a chair in the living room with the TV on.

Wally glanced into the kitchen as he headed towards the stairs; some cupboards were open but it seemed that was as far as Iris and Barry had gotten in making dinner when they disappeared. The house was as empty as his own; Iris and Barry's room, the guest room he had commandeered(only slightly cleaner than the one at home), the second guest room… "I don't know why I even bothered," Wally muttered bitterly. "But…" His eyes flicked eastward, and he was gone.

He wasn't supposed to know; not who Robin was, not where he lived, nada. But he did, because his best friend trusted him. So he ran to Gotham; to Wayne Manor. Wally knew what he would find, but he went anyway.

He shuddered. The manor was as imposing and intimidating as its owner. Knowing he would set off alarms if he went at anything slower than his top speed(Robin had briefed him on the security systems in case there was an emergency), Wally went his fastest through the floors, glancing into each room as he passed and avoiding the room with the grandfather clock. No one was there, just as expected. He sighed and sped back to Happy Harbor. He had more kids to find.

Artemis watched the redhead sadly. She could tell by his voice and the look on his face that Wally hadn't needed her suggestion. She refrained from saying anything and turned back to the children she had been singing nursery rhymes to. Wally didn't need her to make it worse.

A/N: Anyone else notice that Wally is getting more mature as the season goes on? I like it~ And I want to hear that cute accent from 'Downtime' again! Any suggestions on how to improve are appreciated!
