Chapter 7: Heaven

He stares at the computer screen, waiting for the alert signaling her logging into the chat software. Today was a rather shit day, a shit day following a rather hellish week. He has come to realize his life wasn't all the sunshine and lollipops he painted for his friends, life was definitely not working out. It was his third time failing this subject, it was the only subject holding him back from graduating from college. He had met the professor and begged for another chance, he was so close to completing the degree he regrets having done, he didn't want all the time and money his parents have devoted to his education going down the crapper, just because he was feeling down. He couldn't afford to waste more time, especially not after 3 years had gone past his estimated graduate date.

Just think of her…

He exhales, and looks at the watch at the bottom corner of his screen. It reads a quarter past eleven post meridiem. She should have gotten of work hours ago, he talks to her rather often, and knows her work schedule. She is normally back by eight. He looks down at his table, books strewn everywhere. His professor had relented, he had another chance…it came at a price however, he had to stop all this.

No more games, no more entertainment AND no more friends.

His parent's voice echoed in his head. Christ he was 22 years old, and here he was still getting grounded by his parents. He had kept his word, his parents demanded focus for six months, and he started that week itself. He had avoided all contact with everyone, even her.

What a fucking messed up week

God he didn't realize how dull life was when you just studied day in and day out. It was so draining, his brain was absolute slush. He was just taking it day by day, but he got a break today. His parents had gone out for the weekend, it was the one time he could listen to her sweet voice.

Ha. Sweet when she isn't insulting my intelligence

He smirked.

Only Six months

He had to make this conversation count, enjoy it to the fullest, he was banned from communications and entertainment till he was done, which was a long six months away. It felt like an eternity to him. Maybe he should just record it, her voice, listen to it when things got really tough. A little piece of Heaven in Hell.

He was distracted by an alert.

DarkEarth has logged in.

He scrambled to put his headset in, untangling it and cramming it into the USB slot, he moved his mouse to click the call button but stopped.

Arrrrgh I can't just call her as soon as she logs in, that'd be so creepy!

A sarcastic inner voice says. He hated his voice of reason.

He groaned into his hands. Wallowing in his rather pitiful situation.

He looked up. She was dialing him! He picked up

"Oi Ruto you finally picked up you bastard!"

"Haha Hey Kurotsuchi, how's hanging?"

"Don't how's it hanging me, where the fuck you been! We needed a fucking tank last night and I wasn't gonna let a bunch of morons from the guild do it"

"Yeah sorry maan, Life's just kinda caught up, haven't been online much, I told Sasuke to fill in for me"

"Ugh that prick, he's so demanding!"

Naruto grinned.

"I fucking know eh?! Oh Naruto do this, oh you're dps should be focusing the boss not the minions"

A roar of laughter sounded from his headset.

"HAHA yeah man"

God he loved her laugh, she was just perfect. He looked at the time it was bordering 12:30 in the morning, and he had an early start.

Ahhh Fuck it, I can be sleep deprived for a day, it's my last glimpse at heaven before I step into hell…

"So Kuro! What took you so long tonight, go out with someone special?"

"Nah Ruto! But there was this super cute chick's number I got today!"
