A/N: Hello wonderful people still reading this. I know I haven't updated in ages, and I was actually considering dropping the story, but then Ryder Thorne gave me his/her creative review and I just had to update. So thank you lovely human! Although this isn't a great chapter, it's a chapter nonetheless. Please feel free to give me ideas if you have any, as you know I get kinda stuck :p

No one in the stable bothered to try to tame him. The pegasus stood large and tall, its feet skirting all over the place. It's wings flapped occasionally, making a huge gust of wind that blew strands of hay out of place. He wasn't nervous, he was just excited and energetic, as usual.

Batty stared up at the creature. Before now, she had been afraid to approach him. He was big and wild, and she tended to be scared of large things. But she had been feeding the white horses for almost half an hour, and it had started to get a little boring. She had tried talking to one of the other demigods working in the stable, but they were disinterested and in a hurry. The only thing left for her to do in order to conquer her boredom was to say hello to the black horse.

Cautiously, she stepped towards it, holding out a carrot. Franklin and Eleanor always enjoyed the carrots she brought them, back home.

As she got closer, the creature sniffed at her curiously.

"A carrot? Man, I want a doughnut!"

The voice in Batty's head shocked her at first. But somehow she knew it was the horse talking.

"Sorry," she thought. But before she could speak the words out loud, she got a reply.

"You can talk to me?"

Batty's eyes widened. She had always dreamed of being able to actually talk to animals, but had recently accepted that it would most likely never happen. Now, she was speaking with an animal...telepathically.

"I guess so," she thought loudly and clearly.

"Daughter of Poseidon?"

"Yes," she replied. Her fear of the large creature was gone, replaced now with wonder. There were several other people in the stable, rushing around, doing this and that. And none of them could hear her conversation. "My name's Batty."

"Blackjack. Now, I'll eat that carrot, but I won't be happy about it."

Batty inched forward and let him reach the carrot. She slowly patted his head. His hide was sleek and soft, and it felt like silk in her fingers.

"I knew your brother, you know," he told her, nudging her hand with his nose. "Fine dude, Percy."

Batty reached down and picked up an apple. She held it out for him to get a hold of.

"I don't know him," she whispered. Well, it seemed like a whisper, anyway. She was still speaking telepathically.

"Saved a lot of people. A lot of it was done flying me, obviously."

"What kind of people?" Batty asked. Sudden curiousity made her want to know more about her brother.

"Well, his first big mission on me was to save Annabeth; the love of his life, though he didn't know it yet. We went all across the country, man. No sweat for me."
He whinnied and galloped around, as if reanacting a memory. Batty laughed at how silly he looked.

"And after that, we saved the world from Kronos. So, basically, we saved 7 billion people. No big deal. But then," he slowed down, and scuffed the ground with his hoof, "Percy disappeared. Man, Annabeth rode me all over the place, looking for him. But even I couldn't find him. He's somewhere unreachable."

Batty lowered her self to the floor and sat cross-legged. She wished she could help her brother. Heck, she wished she could meet him. Everyone, even the horses talked about how wonderful he was, and she felt somehow left out, since she didnt have any stories of her own.

"I'm going on a quest too," she thought to Blackjack. Blackjack, having long devoured the apple looked at her with interest.

"Really? But you're so... small."

Indignantly, Batty rose to her feet. "Daddy says I'm small but mighty," she said, putting her hands on her hips for good measure.

"Poseidon said that to you?wow, he's becoming more and more supportive as a father! You know, he used to not talk to Percy for years, and now here he is encouraging you and-"

"Not Poseidon, Martin, my real daddy," Batty said, interuppting the thoughts of Blackjack, even though that same Martin had once told her that interrupting someone is just a cowardly way of avoiding the point the other person is trying to make.

Blackjack nudged the gate, and scuffed the ground again. He didn't appear to be following the conversation anymore, which resulted in the halting of the conversation, since he was half of it. He was restless.

After a few moments of watching him, Batty decided she couldn't take it anymore.

"Do you want to get out?" she asked.

"Yes! Man, I've been cooped up here for ages! Chiron gave me a timeout for eating a barrel of apples, but man, how was I supposed to know that they were for the saytrs? There was no sign! And they weren't even that good anyways. You would think that my displeasure would be punishment enough! But noooo! I have to get eight hours of solitary confinement! Do you call this justice? DO YOU CALL THIS JUSTICE?"

Batty, whilst listening sympathetically to his rant, had stood up in ther tippy toes and unlatched Blackjack's stall.

Neighing with relief, Blackjack kicked his front hooves in the air and did a little gallop. Everyone in the stable turned their heads.

"Batty he's not supposed to be out!" Piper yelled, dropping the saddle she was holding. Several other campers rushed to grab Blackjack but he was too quick. He galloped out of the stable and into the sunlight. Batty ran after him.

"Jump on," he said, kneeling closer to the ground.

Without a second thought, Batty scrambled onto his back and grasped the soft hair of his mane in her tiny hands.
She had ridden the other pegasi several times already, but being on Blackjack was different. He flew higher, bigger, almost as if her were putting on a show. Which, technically, he was. Many people had gathered near the stables, shouting at them to come down, yelling warnings.

But Batty just squealed with excitement, and encouraged Blackjack to fly closer to the sun.

Please, honestly review, it makes me want to write :)
