The only explanation I can give for why I wrote this is that I was bored. I was really, really bored. Something like this was probably written before, but I didn't feel like reading through 98 fanfics about Tetris to see if it was. Yes, there are 98 fanfics about Tetris in existence. I can only guess that there are 98 bored people on the website or something.
The blocks were getting nervous. They were all starting to stack up now, gaps everywhere, the ceiling approaching. Their only hope was that some I blocks would come and occupy a space that was a single block wide, six blocks long. That would eliminate six rows and bring them further away from the ceiling. So far though, all they were getting were S blocks.
"Oh come on, not again!" an L block shouted when another S block spawned. "Where's that I block when you need it?"
"Agreed," a square-shaped block replied. His lower half had been decimated when one of the rows cleared and he had only two blocks left. He was in intense pain after having been torn in half and was relying on an I block to fill in the gap and delete him from existence, thus ending his misery.
"New block! New block!" a misplaced J block started shouting excitedly. They all groaned when a T block spawned and started falling from the heavens.
"No space for me?" the T block sighed. "Guess I'll just settle on in here then." He turned himself upside down and laid flat on top of the suicidal square block. "This place is piling up, isn't it?"
"Tell me about it," a nearby stack of Z blocks said.
"I don't think we've had an I block since we started," another T block shouted from the bottom of the heap.
"Yes…yes…YES!" they heard the L block screaming. "We've been waiting for you!" An I block descended from the top of the screen in a chorus of angels…or perhaps just the background music. He quickly located the six-block gap and positioned himself for entry.
"Get ready! Get ready!" the Z block stack said.
"Now I can finally die!" the square block added with intense joy.
Suddenly the I block switched positions and went lengthwise. He plastered himself over the hole, blocking it from entry. There was an eruption of anger from the other blocks as he laughed and shouted, "You shall not pass!"
"You troll!" the J blocks shouted angrily.
"You gotta be kidding me…" they heard L block say. Suddenly stream after stream of I blocks began spawning, plastering themselves against the sides and in places they didn't fit for lack of a place to go.
"Well I was going to fill that hole there, but I guess I'll just have to fit in here instead," one of the I blocks sighed as he settled in with the stack of Z blocks.
"You are the worst," the half-square block grumbled to the trolling I block.
