A/N: Thank you Samantha7425 for editing this and creating a fabulous summary, she is the best sister anyone could ever have. Hope you all enjoy, this is my first fanfiction for Doctor Who and I loved writing it.
Burden of A Time Lord
The Doctor glanced around the TARDIS, the big machine that he seemed to have had forever. He couldn't remember a time he didn't have it. He could name all the times it came with him and all the people that roamed its halls. Now it's empty, the last occupants having left not too long ago. In that time the Doctor never felt so alone. It was always around this time, when a companion leaves and never returns that the Doctor feels himself falling into the dark abyss of his mind. That's where rage and loneliness eats away at him; loneliness more than rage. Nine hundred years would sneak up on him and gnaw away as he thought of the life he had, the people he knew, and the one planet he lost.
The TARDIS would drop him off somewhere, weather it was 1819 or 9181, he would find himself in a different time and end up saving the world. Problems would arise and he had to make a choice. That's when the rage consumed him, the anger wiped away his judgment and in that instant he could kill them all; but a companion would be there telling him to stop. Their voices brought him back to his senses, but when he's alone and there is no one to bring him back⦠He shutters at the thought.
With a sigh, the Doctor began flicking switches and turning knobs, allowing his ride to take him through time and space. At least he would always have the TARDIS, and he felt like that's all he really needed sometimes, but in his two hearts, he knew that wasn't true. He needed a companion, because as he saved them from the bleak, boring life they would have had, they saved him from the loneliness and rage. But for now he was alone; sad and alone. That was the burden of a Time Lord.
