Babysitting

(These characters belong to the author and not me please read and enjoy thank you!)

Quil walked in through the back door of Sam and Emily's place. Sam and Emily had mentioned the other night at dinner that they planned on going out since tonight was their anniversary that week which meant they needed someone to babysit their three year old niece Claire. They had already guessed who would be straight in their and offer to help. Of course they were right as usual. Quil quickly told them that he would do it since Claire was his imprint and he loved spending time with her, making sure she was safe. Emily had agreed quickly but Sam took more persuading. Luckily for Quil, Emily liked him so she willingly spoke to Sam and made sure he agreed.

Quil smiled when he saw Emily fussing about in the kitchen. "Em, leave it, I can deal with that later when Claire is asleep," he told her, taking the pans off of her. Emily turned around and smiled at him.

"No need to," she told him, attempting to take the pans off of him. Quil held onto the pan, refusing to let it go. Emily gave up and let go. "Fine," she said, "But if you don't do them, don't worry," she told him.

Suddenly Quil heard footsteps patter into the kitchen just before he heard the cutest voice ever (to him). "Qwil!" three year old Claire shouted as she ran at him, jumping into his arms. Quil automatically caught her and held her close.

"Hey Claire-bear," he said, smiling softly at the young girl in his arms. Claire planted a sloppy kiss on his cheek before he placed her back on the floor. She toddled off into the living room to go back to her drawing.

Quil stood up straight and faced Sam and Emily. Sam must have come in behind Claire. "Our number's on the fridge in case you need us," Emily told him, even though he already knew the number off by heart. Quil nodded.

"Go out Em, you need a break from feeding us all," he said, smiling at them. Emily smiled softly and walked to go get her coat. Sam looked at Quil with a serious look on his face.

"Keep her safe, don't do anything stupid and make sure she's in bed and asleep by her usual time boy," Sam told her. "And you know I will find out," he warned before following Emily out of the house. Quil watched him leave. He knew Sam meant every thing he had just said so he would have to try his best and go against Claire when she begged to stay up for five then ten then fifteen more minutes.

Quil listened carefully as the car drove off. Then he headed into the living room where Claire was sitting on the floor at the table, colouring a multicoloured flower in a colouring book Rachel had gotten her. Claire looked up when she heard Quil walked in and gave up colouring straight away. She picked up her favourite story book and toddled over to him. Quil chuckled and sat on the couch. Claire placed the book next to him and climbed up onto his lap. She picked the book up and held it out to him. Quil smiled at her. She was so cute. "Qwil pwease wead me a stowry," she said, holding up a book towards him. How could Quil say no to her? He was never able to say no to his imprint so how was tonight going to be any different? "Sure Claire-bear, anything for you," he promised her. Claire smiled at him and curled up against his warm chest. Quil opened the book and began to read. Quil knew he would always keep his promise no matter what. Claire was his life and she would always be that, his Claire-bear.
