"Who's the girl?" Terry asked as he picked up a picture on Bruce's desk. It was of a dark haired twenty something woman, with golden skin and huge green emerald eyes, she was hanging onto Bruce's arm and beaming at the camera like it was the happiest night of her life. Even Bruce was smiling. It was a recent picture because Bruce looked like...well, Bruce as he was now, and it seemed like they were at some kind of party considering her cocktail dress and his suit. But it definitely wasn't an event Terry had driven or accompanied Bruce to because he'd have certainly remembered seeing a schway babe like her. "She's a babe," he added.

"My Granddaughter. Mar'i," Bruce replied.

Terry cringed. Why did he have to add that part about her being a babe? He was an idiot. He could have at least said something a little more eloquent, like she was beautiful or gorgeous, which she was. "I've already heard the 'don't go near my daughter' lecture to know what you're gonna say," Terry said as he put the picture down and held his hands up in defence. "And I know I'm an idiot."

Bruce leant back in his chair with a slight smile. "She'd eat you alive, McGinnis. She's Dick's daughter. Mar'i Grayson, also known as Nightstar." The smiled disappeared, "He had her with that alien Starfire," Bruce said distastefully.

"Why don't you like her Mother?" Terry asked.

Bruce decided to indulge Terry in a little family history as he glanced at the picture of Mar'i again. Mar'i was always telling him to be nicer to Terry when they spoke via video chat. And in response he kept telling her to meet him so she could see how long her patience lasted.

"At first I didn't mind Starfire, Kory, she was part of the Teen Titans that Robin created. She was quite innocent and enthusiastic to learn about Earth from Dick. They spent a lot of time together, fell in love, and got married. Although, I knew and believed I was the only one to realise what a threat she could be if she wasn't watchful of her power. Her patience outlasted her ability to take orders about holding back and before any irreversible events occurred she retreated to Tamaran with her daughter, without Dick. Dick tried to follow but Kory wouldn't allow him onto her planet. So Mar'i rebelled against her Mother and followed Dick home in a stolen Star-cruiser. They finally came to a compromise that she would live on Earth but returns to Tamaran at least once a month for affairs of state as she is the heir to the throne."

"I see," Terry nodded. Mar'i sounded as schway as she looked. If she was still on Earth right now he had to meet her.

"She could do a lot worse than you." Bruce stood up, and allowed himself a small internal smile at the honest shock and then pride on McGinnis' face at being complimented. "She's had a crush on Superman since she was ten. That's the last thing I want to see develop. And with their combined powers God knows what their offspring would be like." Bruce rolled his eyes.

Bruce began walking out of the study and Terry began grabbing the hard copies of the files Bruce had made him 'borrow' from the police archives.

"The only risk she'd take with procreating with you is her children growing up to be idiots."

Terry's head whipped around to the empty doorway. "Hey!"
