"Moony." Sirius tugged at his boyfriend's sleeves. "Moony."

"What, Sirius?" Remus sighed, lowering his book resignedly. He should know better than to think he could read when Sirius was around and demanding his attention.

"The first years. They're under our tree." Sirius pointed out the window to the view of the Hogwarts grounds. Remus guessed he was supposed to be looking at the pair of students sitting underneath a large willow by the lake.

"Our tree?" Remus asked, his eyebrow raised. "I wasn't aware we had a tree."

"Yes!" Sirius exclaimed indignantly. "Of course we do!"

"Why that one?"

"Because it's the one we always sit under when James and Pete aren't with us."

"Sirius, I'm not sure that counts as 'our tree'."

"It does."

"Alright then." Remus returned his eyes to the book he was reading.

"Remus!" Sirius exclaimed. "Aren't you going to do something about it?"

The werewolf turned the page casually. "I wasn't planning on it, no," he told his boyfriend.

"But it's our place!"

"Well you're a dog," Remus said, not really paying much attention to the conversation at all. "You're territorial and stuff. Go pee on it or something."

Sirius huffed and turned away in a sulk. Remus took advantage of the quiet this gave to read more of his book.

It wasn't until he'd managed to read three whole pages without being interrupted that he realised Sirius had left the room. Sighing, he debated whether he should follow or not. On one hand, Sirius tended to get up to mischief when he was bored and on his own. As a prefect, Remus supposed he really should attempt to exercise control over his better half.

On the other hand, he wasn't Sirius' keeper. The other boy was entitled to do whatever he pleased.

Remus just hoped that 'whatever he pleased' didn't include transforming into a dog and peeing on first-years.

He glanced out the window, and wasn't too surprised to see that the students were no longer sitting under the tree Sirius had dubbed as 'theirs'. Instead, they'd been replaced by a large black dog, who sat there with his tongue lolling, staring pointedly up at the window Remus was looking out of.

The werewolf couldn't help the smile that tugged at the corner of his mouth as he rose from his chair. He could read outside just as well as he could inside, and at least Sirius wouldn't be able to talk if he were a dog.

Remus just hoped Sirius hadn't actually decided to mark 'his territory'.
