Disclaimer: I do not own sgt. Frog.
Heya! So this was actually my first chapter length sgt frog fic, and first M rated fic and I would love to thank you all for the lovely support. I am in the process of editing this with a little more detail and making it easier to read, and this is the first edited chapter!
I hope you enjoy it.
Also, this fic does include a sex scene. I lied about that previously because I believed that I'd never write a sex scene (but people pushed for one anyway, so yeah) and it does include violence so be wary.
Hope you enjoy!
Natsumi watched, her eyes widening and her jaw agape as her house exploded in a spew of fire and rubble. The little ashes flew everywhere as splinters of the wood flew into the sky and bulleted down at the speed of a rocket.
"Watch out, kitty!" Natsumi yelled horrified as Giroro's cat stood shivering in fear as a splinter fell into the top her head. Natsumi's eyes widened as she fell. The cat's tail twitched but she no longer moved.
"Come on, Natsumi….You can't dawdle!" Giroro yelled pulling at her hand as Natsumi's eyes widened in fear.
"YES I CAN! Fuyuki was in the house! I have to make sure he's okay!" She screamed, trying to pull away from Giroro's touch. Giroro sighed.
"I'm sorry, Natsumi… I don't want to hurt you." He hit her with a needle and all went dark.
Keroro woke up from his usual Gundam filled slumber. He scratched his head, yawned and stretched his arms. "Morning, Gundam models." He told his babies. He smiled, the faces of his wonderful Gundam models in the morning always told him that today it would be a good day.
A black vortex suddenly appeared above him, no larger than the size of his fist, and a paper marked with the words 'FROM HEADQUARTERS' floated down. Keroro yawned and caught it, scratching his butt for a second before opening it.
Headquarters? Keroro thought to himself, he tried not to worry about what headquarters wanted from him. Were they calling to replace him with Tamama again? Or was this good news? Would it hurt to be an optimist?
Optimism never hurt anybody. Keroro reminded himself. Still, he couldn't help but uttering a "I wonder what they want...?" aloud to himself. He tore open the envelope and hummed a happy tune to himself. The humming halted and a mixture of emotions filled Keroro's stomach, fear, shock, but most of all optimism.
Nothing would bring the green commander down.
Still though, it was best to inform his platoon about the contents of the letter as quickly as possible. He hopped out of bed and hit a button on some sort of communication device.
"Emergency meeting now!" He called to his platoon. He darted into the base to wait for them.
It took no longer than a few minutes for them to assemble, all five, six counting Angol Mois, to stand before Keroro.
"What is it, Keroro? Another half brained invasion scheme?" Giroro asked bored and tired of having to sit in the boring invasion room,he polished a gun in his hands. "It's probably something about Gundam, just like the last emergency meeting." He snickered. Keroro shook his head and stamped his foot like a child.
"NO! It's not! It's actually something important this time!" Keroro complained.
"Ku, ku, ku...So you're admitting Gundam isn't something important?" Kululu asked.
Keroro shook his head, "No! Gundam is very important! Ugh! Look at what you made me say, Giroro." Keroro scowled, "But what I'm saying is I brought you all here because something big is about to happen!"
"That's a surprise." Giroro sarcastically rolled his eyes.
"Everything about the sergeant is imporant." Tamama smiled munching on some candy. He sighed as he looked at Keroro dreamily.
"Huh?" Keroro asked slightly confused. Sometimes Tamama really confused him. He almost felt like he was picking up some sort of vibe from the private? He dismissed Tamama's comment and went back to what was important. He cleared his throat. "Umm...Anyway, a couple soldiers from headquarters are visiting us later today!" Keroro announced, "They want to see the progress we've made on the Pekopon invasion." He continued.
The five pairs of eyes in front of him narrowed, in worry and discomfort.
"They said that headquarters is very pleased by all the work we've completed in the amount of time we've been here." Keroro smiled proudly. He gave everybody a thumbs up.
"Ku, ku, ku…Sure they weren't being sarcastic? We've complete pretty much nothing. Oh well, I won't be the one blamed for the failure of our invasion. Ku, ku, ku." Kululu laughed looking at Keroro. He put his feet on the table and turned up his music louder, showing how little he cared about everybody's well being.
"Hey! This is a happy meeting! They might even raise our ranks and give us a raise!" Keroro's eyes shined as he yelled at Kululu and pointed his finger at his platoon. "They like us! They like me!" Keroro was gleeful. He remained ever optimistic.
"I doubt that they'll give us a raise. Kululu's probably right. They've probably come to punish you." Giroro agreed. He found something suspicious about the letter. They really had done nothing on Pekopon unless Keroro had been lying on official reports. Then they'd be in even more trouble when the army found out.
"Nonsense! They would never do that! If they did they would give me time to prepare for my memories being wiped." Keroro gave a nervous laugh. He smiled a little. He trusted the Keron government, what he had put his life into. "Anyway, if they were going to blame us for the invasion, I wouldn't be the only one in trouble." He gave a mischievous smirk like he was ready to start prodding at the circumstances that were not yet bad. To start teasing someone. "Mr. Give up the invasion for a pekoponian."
"Hey!" Giroro blushed.
"Aw…You caught me… But it's more of giving up the invasion for Pekopon herself." Dororo laughed a little bit, trying to ease the awkwardness off of his friend's back. Nobody noticed him because he was Dororo. Nobody cared about what he said.
"I haven't given up the invasion! I'm the most passionate about it!" Giroro insisted. Everyone knew at this point that he was lying to everyone including himself.
"Sure you haven't." Keroro rolled his eyes, everybody laughed along with him, like a laugh track "Anyway, when headquarters comes make sure you don't let them figure out you've fallen for the enemy. They might kill you and Lady Natsumi." Keroro teased. Everyone continued laughing even though it was a very real threat.
"That's not funny!" Giroro hushed them, "And anyway..." He continued speaking, "I haven't fallen for the enemy! You should all know that!" Giroro denied while blushing. Everybody started laughing again at his obvious denial.
"It's like total denial?" Angol Mois stated. They all nodded in agreement.
"Sure you haven't." Keroro smiled. Giroro groaned and seeing that Keroro had told them all the important news, left the room in anger. "Meeting dismissed!" Keroro announced. His business was done. He left to play with his Gundam models.
Giroro opened his tent flap and stepped inside planning to grab another bottle of cleaning spray for his gun. His anger could only be calmed with obsessive cleaning after all. As he stepped inside his tent he stepped on an envelope that someone must have delivered to him.
"What's this?" He asked out loud, kicking at the strange envelope, "Probably another creepy love letter from Kululu in an attempt to make me uncomfortable…. " He hated those letters. He didn't know why out of anyone Kululu could have chosen to harass, it was him that Kululu had chosen. He picked up the envelope anyway just to make sure it was from Kululu before he tossed it.
'Direct from Keron' It read on a postal stamp. Kululu couldn't have sent it.
That's strange…Is it Big brother? He thought as he tore the top of the letter open. Sure enough, it was from his brother.
Dear Giroro,
You must read quickly. This is urgent news. I only pray that you've found this letter before it's too late. I will tell you bluntly instead of beating around the bush.
Headquarters is coming to Pekopon.
I know it's illegal to tell you all this because it's top secret military information but I have to tell you. I won't let my younger brother be caught by surprise.
They've come to take over the Pekopon invasion. The whole army is coming. They're probably going to arrest you all and I expect they will torture you for your failures, standard military protocol, but what's the worst is they've found out about your crush on that pekoponian girl.
They are going to execute you and the pekoponian, Natsumi Hinata.
I can help you, perhaps even get you back to your military career and let your forget the failure at Pekopon ever happened. You will work your way back into a high position. This shame will not ruin you. I will not let you be tortured, but you have to give up on the Pekoponian Natsumi Hinata. It has already been decided by the higher ups that she will die.
Running, hiding or fighting won't help at all. I know you want to fight for her, but it won't work. Trust me. You're as good as dead unless you give her up.
I hardly ever say please. But please. Give her up. It is the only way. The heartbreak will hurt, but it's the only way at least one of you can survive.
Make the right choice. I know you will, little bro.
And do whatever you need to do fast. They're coming.
Sincerely,
First lieutenant, Garuru
Giroro's hands shook in fear as he read the letter over and over again. No thoughts about his own or his platoon's safety went through his head, only the word Natsumi. Natsumi's name floated around in his head, lines in the letter highlighted over and over again. Natsumi's life was in danger.
He ignored Garuru's please, he ignored his own life. All he thought about was Natsumi. She had already been chosen to die. All because of him.
He was more terrified than he had ever been in his entire life. He dropped the letter, unable to hold it in his shaking hands. He ran out of the tent, willing his legs to be still and find Natsumi.
She was cutting some vegetables in the kitchen, humming to herself, completely free of terror, unaware of what was about to transpire.
"NATSUMI!" Giroro rushed forward, panicky but feeling reassured that she was still alive as soon as he saw her image. Her happy face soothed him. For at least a moment.
"What is it?" She asked turning away from the carrots she was cutting. She gave him a small frown, seeing him panting from his loud screaming of her name.
"You're still alive…Good…." He sighed in relief, "Listen, Natsumi. We have to go to safety, right now. How about we go on a vacation? Just the two of us." He suggested. He wasn't very subtle about his worry.
"What are you talking about? Why now?" Natsumi asked confused. Giroro tugged at her hand, but she pulled away.
"That's not important." Giroro explained not wanting to scare her, he knew if he told her about what was going to happen she'd want to stay and fight the Keron military which would result in her death. He didn't want her to die. "The only thing that is important is that we have to go. Right now." He impatiently ordered.
"No." She refused stubbornly. Giroro's eyes widened. He loved her stubborn nature, but why now of all times.
"You're in danger. Just trust me!" Giroro begged, grabbing onto Natsumi's arm. Natsumi looked at him confused by his strange behavior.
What had gotten into Giroro?
