It's late… past curfew, but if Tarrlok wants to enforce his stupid curfew on Tahno he can go fuck himself and that is a fact. So Tahno walks, a bottle that he hasn't opened yetclutched in his right hand. The streets are quiet and tingles run up his spine, unnerving him; jolting him when he hears screaming and ducks into an alley; keeping in the shadows…

"Korra…?" He'd like to think he can recognize her voice but he's never heard her screaminglike that and it's like ice water thrown over him, making him shiver in a way that has nothing to do with the falling snow.

Slowly- he's not an idiot- he peeks around the corner… there's City Hall… there's Tarrlok, getting into a Satomobile…

What happened to him?

But then he hears her scream again and now the ice is insideof him.

What is he…?

The Satomobile starts up, taking off into the night. Tahno hesitates for just a moment, then he's running, trying to duck along the shadows, trying to keep it in sight, trying to figure out what in the world he can possibly do it he manages to keep up.

Korra…

He starts when he hears a snarl, dropping his bottle as he turns sharply, only to find himself face to face with her beast. He goes rigid and throws his hands up defensively, squeezing his eyes shut and turning his face away, but then the animal is whining and pressing her cold nose imploringly against him. Slowly, very slowly, he lowers his arms and looks to her. There's no denying now who was screaming and it feels like something sharp has embedded itself in his chest because who can you trust anymore?

She whines again and he squares his shoulders. Question answered.

"You got a plan, mutt?"

She moves uneasily and he takes a step closer, trying to overcome the instincts that are yelling at him to get away.

One foot in the stirrup and he pulls himself up.

"Guess we'll think of something on the way."

And before he can even situate himself she's running and he's hanging on, not just for his own life but for Korra's too.

"Let's go, beastie," He murmurs, keeping low. "Korra's got a promise to me that she better keep."
