Am I in love with him, she asked herself as she watched Edward working in the garden. It wasn't until Edward told her that he knew it was Jim's house all along and that he still did it because she asked him to.

Edward was a sweet man, who didn't deserve to be arrested or punished for something that wasn't his fault. At first, Kim didn't like him much. No, she didn't dislike him, but he freaked her out. Then again, how would any girl feel coming home one late night, and finding a stranger in their bed with large scissors? He had beautiful eyes. Dark as chocolate. Jim's on the other hand were an ice cold blue. Kim had thought herself in love with Jim, but then she saw what he was truly like. He planned on leaving Edward to the cops, just to save his own skin, and didn't even tell anybody the truth. But she wasn't exactly truthful herself, was she? At least she didn't want to leave Edward.

Christmas was coming up, and the Boggs family would be having their Christmas party that they have every year on Christmas Eve. Kim didn't really think it such a good idea to have the party, since the neighbors were no longer comfortable around Edward after what happened. Even her own family didn't act the same around him. Sure, they tried, and obviously cared about him, but the tension was becoming too much. She didn't like Joyce or Esmerelda, or Marge, or Helen or any of the other neighborhood ladies. They all pretended to be your friend, but then would turn around and stab you in the back. Just like Jim did.

That she didn't see coming. Jim never thought much about Edward, or said anything about him to her until he said he wanted them to unlock the door to his house. Kim couldn't believe she was thinking this thought, but she hated Jim. Detested him, actually. No longer was he just a jock, that sweet-talked her, he was now an arrogant jerk, and she wanted nothing further to do with him.

Later on, she would find out that Jim had hated Edward all along. When Kim had broken the relationship off, Jim had made the comment about Edward not being human. Was he or wasn't he, she often asked herself.

It broke her heart letting Edward go. She knew Edward would be safe now that he was back at the mansion, but the thought knowing that she would never be able to see him again or talk to him again tore at her heartstrings. Jim was dead, and she didn't care. Good riddance. Jim had planned to kill Edward, and had even hit her, so Edward had to give Jim a dose of his own medicine.

Kim went to Jim's funeral, but didn't shed a tear. How could she shed a tear for a man that was so cold and heartless, and was only looking out for himself?

A few years later, Kim had confessed to her family about how it was Jim's idea for Edward to break into his house, just so he could get money for his own van. She explained to them that Edward only did it because she asked him to, and he had never done anything wrong. It was all Jim. It ate away at Kim for years, and finally she just cracked and told them. They had been understanding through it all, and they knew that Edward wasn't dangerous, but they never did find out the truth about the break-in until Kim decided to confess.

Ten years after the whole Edward incident, Kim had finally met another man, and she could say that she loved him, but Edward was always in her heart and the back of her mind. Her husband had been good to her, and she led a pretty good life, and she even had two daughters, and later on two granddaughters.

Deep down, Kim knew that Edward was still alive, even when she lived to be a hundred and one. It never snowed in that town until Edward came down, and it had been snowing on the night she passed away. Winter had become her favorite season, because it reminded her of the first time she danced in it.
