I have an unhealthy love/hate relationship when it comes to Samara Morgan. The Ring was my horrormovie debute and it didn't end so well. I can deal with a whole lot more horror now. I have seen numerous other horror movies since then and none has effected me like The Ring did.

Samara Morgan does however not let me go ever and in a way I'd like to meet her. But at the same time i really don't want to. I don't know, this fic just appeared once.

"Do you like the rain. Samara?"

He was sitting on the sealed well, staring at the ground where she had stood when her mother had killed her. That that one single murder had led to so much suffering was something he couldn't quite grasp.

The trees and the boy keeping the lonely circular construction and the dead girl inside company were soaked by the heavy rain. He didn't mind though, the rain fitted the place, it almost felt as if the rain could wash away the evil that lived in the place where he was waiting out the rain. He knew it was just an illusion and that the evil residing directly underneath him would never disappear. She was too young to understand the damage she was doing every day, just by begging people to help her. Neither did she know that people didn't understand her frightening plea. She couldn't understand the evil she was doing and that was why he couldn't hate her.

For a moment he wondered how many people were, unbeknownst to them, counting down to death this instant. Was someone watching it right now?
He could feel her move in the well underneath him, she was restless due to his presence. She didn't want him there and she was angry because of his mocking question. She did not like the rain, he knew that.

He also knew he was in mortal danger, he didn't mind that either. She had a gateway, a way to leave and punish those who had neglected her. He however hadn't neglected her, he was there, wasn't he?

But he did not suffice, he already was haunted and Samara didn't want to share. He knew he could give her what she needed if he'd let her. She wanted someone to love her and he could do that, he knew her. But the love and attention she demanded was undivided and he couldn't give her that.

Regardless of that he came every time it rained, whether it was a drizzle or a storm, so she didn't have to be alone. He knew how much she hated to be alone.
The rain gradually decreased and eventually stopped.

"You should have come to me", he whispered.

He remained seated, not receiving an answer. He hadn't expected it. He stood up and looked at the well, wondering like always what would happen if he opened it. He never did it though, he was much to frightened for that. Not because of himself but because of her and her son.

"I'm sorry. You should have come to me and left her alone, you would have been free."

He knew though that she wouldn't, he couldn't give her what she wanted and thus she would kill him, like she killed everyone who didn't suffice. The only reason he was still alive was because she didn't want to be alone in the rain.

"Take care, Samie, I'll see you when it rains."

With those words Ryou left, finally silencing the evil being inside him demanding of his Landlord to go home.
