She awoke with a yawn, a few faint rays of sunlight trickling through the large window to the right of their bed. Tenzin was still fast asleep beside her. She watched him for a moment, the rise and fall of his chest, the way his breath faintly moved his mustache and beard, and just the peace he seemed to have in slumber. She slipped out of the bed, careful not to disturb him, only stopping for a brief moment to scoop up Jinora from her cradle before heading down to the kitchen. The baby's eyes opened with a large yawn as she stared up at her mother curiously. Pema walked the two of them into the kitchen, keeping Jinora tucked under her arm as she started moving around and plucking pots and pans from various cabinets as she softly spoke to her daughter.

"Do you know what today is Jinora? Today is a special day, the first of many in the years to come. Our first Father's day. A special day just for your father, what do you think?"

Jinora simply stared up at her mother, not truly understanding what her mother meant, but giggling lightly as Pema took a break from cooking to tickle her daughter. Pema smiled and carefully continued on with her cooking, making a breakfast feast. It wasn't easy with Jinora, but she feared if she set her down she may start crying and wake Tenzin, hence ruining the surprise. She didn't though, Jinora was exceedingly well behaved, watching the strange motions and processes of her mother with curious brown eyes, happy to be so close and have a fantastic view point.

Pema smiled and shook her head as she arranged the meal on a tray. This was going to be the most difficult part, carrying the tray and Jinora back to their room without spilling any of the food or inadvertently causing Jinora to cry. She took a deep breath and carefully tucked her up under her arm and gripped the tray tightly as she stood and walked. By the time she made it to the room a few trickles of juice were running down the outside of the glass, Jinora was awkwardly positioned under her arm now, the folds of Pema's robes across her face, and Pema herself had knocked her knuckles into the doorframe when she entered the room and muttered under her breath at the slight pain. She shook it off though and made it back to the side of the bed, setting the tray down on the small side table next to it, shifting Jinora into a more comfortable position in her arms and sitting next to Tenzin. She watched him for a moment before tracing a few fingers over his arrows, on his hands and forehead, waiting for the faint touches to wake him. She held back a light laugh as his face scrunched up before he opened his eyes and stared up at Pema, somewhat confused, somewhat curious.

"Happy Father's Day Tenzin."

She watched as his eyes widened for a moment as the words sunk in before a peaceful smile came across his face and he pushed himself up to a sitting position.

"Yes, that….that is today, isn't it?" Tenzin glanced over to his breakfast before glancing back to his wife and down at their daughter.

"Jinora helped me make it. So it's a real Father's Day treat, not just me surprising you with breakfast in bed."

"Oh did she now? Wonderful then. I bet it's delicious." Tenzin smiled as he reached an arm over to pull Pema closer to him, while he reached his free hand over to carefully cradle Jinora in conjunction with his wife. Part of him couldn't believe it. His family, his wife, their daughter, their first Father's Day. The first of many. He simply sat with them both, uncaring if his meal cooled, placing a soft kiss to the top of Pema's head. He was simply content to stay still in the embrace with his wife and daughter, enjoying the moment. This would be one of the best Father's Day in his memory. The very first one of any holiday were always special, so much more so with family, especially when it was your own family.
